That’s exactly how I felt with Kyle. Also after Kyle beat Andy he saw it as a real win, whereas Kyrgios gave the interview one of his withering comments, when he was asked how it felt to beat Andy at last - along the lines of “I don’t count that as a win”.

All power to Dan. He deserves it. Now for goodness sake focus, and get yourself an ATP title. It’s long overdue.

Couldn't sleep so saw sets 2 and 3 of Dan's match. He was so good in set 2, which he won; he really attacked the Rublev serve and played with all his skill and guile to hold onto the break of serve. However in set 3, Rublev was relentlessly hitting the corners and played some impressive defence to break Dan and eventually take the match. I've high hopes for Dan at the AO. He's looking so good at the moment.

He answered that question himself. He's played him twice before and lost both times. He doesn't like playing him as he's tricky to deal with and in today's conditions that was even worse. He played the best he could although not his best.

For Dan, playing Nishioka was probably like playing a version of himself. Both are full of guile and variety and make many trips to the net, with Nishioka this time outsmarting Dan. I never thought this match up was going to be 'easy' for Dan, but he certainly didn't let himself down and the future looks bright for him.

On the one hand hooray for Amazon Prime. I've just caught up on all 3 matches today. I knew Dan had won the first 2 but didn't know the Rublev outcome.
On the other hand we don't have fibre optic broadband so Amazon is clunky. On Sky I ff between serves and end changes when I've recorded a match. On Amazon it's impossible to see what's happening while you're in ff mode and several times today it told me there was an error and to come back later. I then had to restart the match and ff to where I'd left off.
Anyway.....Dan....WOW!!! First match v Foggy was scrappy from both of them and he won ugly. I have a love hate relationship with Foggy, such a character but his nonchalant manner irks me. Almost like he's not sure if he can be bothered.
Match v Herbert much better but nail biting.
Against Rublev..... stunning!
He hasn't played Tsitsipas so should be good given both their varied styles of play. Bring it on and well done Dan whatever happens.

A tough day for Dan as he and Goffin exit the doubles. Everything was well and groovey til 5-5 in the first, then suddenly it wasn't. They go down 5-7 1-6 :sad: Dan's played a lot of tennis the last couple of days, so a rest and onwards. Hope he teams up with Goffin again, they have a lot of potential.

Meanwhilst Moutet is losing it with the Umpire after getting a warning for racket abuse (which he's still arguing about) AND he complained that Dan was moving about whilst he was trying to serve.

Rain caused play to be suspended with Dan serving to stay in the 3rd at *5-6, Advantage. They'll resume tomorrow and I hope Dan can pick up his good run of play to take the 3rd set and go 2-1 up and then win another to reach R3. He's up against a volatile but talented lefty who has great movement on court so it'll be no easy task for our last Brit in the singles draws.

Such a shame for Dan but he had a lot of chances in the 3rd and 4th to nab either of those sets but was thwarted by Moutets' agility and skill.

Some inspired play from Moutet and great defence early in the breaker, however not great from Dan and disappointing he let some chances slip in the 4th. Only Brit representation now is in the Doubles.

But what a cracker of a match. Highly entertaining and such a shame Dan couldn't close it out. Moutet a tough cookie to crack, but I feel he was crackable. But not today and not by Dan! All the same, Dan doing ok overall.

He lost in five sets, yesterday, to Nishikori at the French Open. I could only watch the last set, as I'd been at my sister and brother-in-law's house nearly all day. I had hoped he would win the match.
