Wardy won his QR1 match there already and plays again today in QR2.
Due to various rules (if you can read and work them out) provided he wins today and reaches the FQR he'd likely make the main draw without winning the FQR match because he's the #1 seed in qualifying and there are a couple of Lucky Loser spots in the main draw. It's a bit complicated - read BT.net's thread for Aptos here (http://britishtennis.activeboard.com/t54550660/week-32-challenger-100000-aptos-ca-usa-hard/)to check the ins and outs ...

Wardy wins his QR2 match: 6'4, 5'7, 6'1 and is into the FQR. He could have won it in 2 sets had he managed to break in game 13 of set 2 when he was 40-15* against the server. Hum ho, it's all good court practice!!!

Allez Dan!!!

He won his first round match 6'1, 6'2 not without some exchanges of service breaks in the 2nd set (and some juicy comments to his opponent!) but he ot the job done and next faces Jimmy Wang.
I'm quoting Steven because only he can put together some pre-match words so succinctly ...

L16: Dan Evans WR 194 v (8) Jimmy Wang (TPE) WR 139 (CH 85 in 2006)

So, the player who lost to Pospisil in the Vancouver Final will take on the player who lost to Pospisil in the Vancouver SFs, who today double-bagelled the player who lost to Pospisil in the Vancouver QFs ... while Pospisil himself took out Isner in Montréal today!

Sadly, Wardy lost his match to Wayne Odesnik despite fighting back hard to win the 2nd set.

He just got the first set! Brilliant lob at the end.
Gosh he has feel. He just needs more experience beating players ranked close to 100 and then he can take a big step forward!

3-0 in the second and his level is quite awesome at the moment. He is completely inside his opponent's head!
Double break would be great to make sure. C'mon Dan!
He gets it and is now 5-0 up. Just needs to keep focus a bit longer.
He is taking apart the TOP SEED! This guy was ranked 75 in June and Dan is making him look ordinary!
Two MPs but Pella puts everything into it and manages to hold.
Now come on Dan. Stay calm! Boring hold please!
Two more MPs squandered. That makes 4. Deuce. Ace. Number 5.
Does it! Brilliant. Another semi final!
7-5 6-1

Fantastic play from Dan!
:bravo:

Stats from Steven on Bt.net

QF: (SE) Dan Evans WR 194 beat (1) Guido Pella (ARG) WR 96 (CH 75 in Jun) 5 & 1
SF: (SE) Dan Evans WR 194 v (Q) Farrukh Dustov (UZB) WR 213 (CH 173 in 2007)

If he wins this match Dan will almost certainly overtake James Ward as British #2. Not for long though (unless he keeps winning shedloads of events) because he's a lot of points to come off.

Awesome. Hope he can maintain this level. Watching him at DC have always felt he had all the potential of Andy with twice the aggression Andy had at the same age. Only things lacking to date have been work ethic and willingness to travel.

About 90mins to go for Evo's match ... depending on how long the first semi takes of course!

I thought when I looked this morning that it was 7pm, but I see it's now listed as 9pm so maybe I was mistaken earlier.

Per the conversation on the Dan Evans thread the OOP states a start of 13.00 which is 21.00 in the UK. So, we have a little longer to wait ...

I was looking in the LS where you get draws, OOPs, results, etc,for all the tournaments and it still says 11.0am for Dan's match. Clearly that is wrong, but I believed it and added 8 hours on accordingly.
