The Russian, Youzhny, beat the Latvian, Gulbis, today in Cincinnati R1, denying Andy the chance for a spot of payback for his loss against Gulbis last week in Canada.

The good news, as the H2H shows is that Muzzah leads Mischa 3-0 in matches played. And the most recent win came on the green grass of Wimbledon 'en-route' for Andy winning The Championships for the first time. Andy was only 20 the first time they met in the Semi's at St Petersburg and having won the match went on to win the title. And the Valencia win was for the title too.

disappointing game - youzhny didn't turn up, he destroyed himself with unforced errors and double faults. against gulbis i thought youzhny played so well,such a length and that backhand fired all the time. nice run out for andy, nothing more

Much of the reason for so many Youznhy errors is because of Andy's tactics and play. As he said in the interview, Youzhny plays a flat ball and so slicing it low over the net makes it difficult for him and puts pressure on him to go for winners.

And I'll never forget that she was the only one who didn't back Andy to win before the US Open. AND then she was first up to kiss him when he arrived in Sky studio after his triumph.....that annoyed me too!!!! So glad your husband has got good hearing like me.:thumbup:

I was pleased to hear Andy say that he would have to increasingly become more aggressive. Today he was more like the old Andy who was keeping the ball in play and tempting his opponent to make mistakes. He pointed out that he didn't hit many clear winners and he certainly didn't.
