The defending Champion - doesn't that sound great???
He opens up his US Open campaign against Frenchman Michael Llodra against whom he has a 3-0 H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=L428)and in fact beat the 33yr old doubles specialist here in 2008 in R2. So, there's history and it's in Andy's favour.
Here's hoping he makes a good start ...
C'mon Muzzah!!!

As far as I know, it's only Wimbledon that has that tradition. But I could be wrong.

I will miss all of the first week because I'm going to Walsingham with the church.

Have to start this with :cauldron: because I'm going to say I'll miss the final - it's the day our cruise sails.......but of course Andy may not get that far so it won't matter.

Hello Mumaj and welcome to our forum!
:welcome:
Andy's not on the OOP for Monday so it looks as though he'll play on Tuesday or even Wednesday since the USO spreads R1 matches over 3 days. I'll move your post to Andy's match thread (v Llodra) which is the most likely place that news of his match time/day will be posted.

How come he might play Wednesday then as defending champion do you think? R! spread over three days. Doesn't make sense.

The scheduling in the US is always weird and sometimes beyond belief. One thing is consistent - it never seems to favour Andy although this year I did think he may be 'promoted'
PS Welcome Mumaj
They're going on till Monday this year though so I suppose the Wed thing is not soooo bad for Andy???

Someone on Twitter saying there's a possibility of rain on Wednesday! I hope not as it seems that when Andy might be playing and after the shambles a few years back when I think he had only played 1 match by the Friday sticks in my mind which I didn't think helped his chances. But isn't it the case that those who play on the Monday have to have 2 days off in a row which I would rather Andy didn't have as I think day on day off is a better rhythm.
USO always seems to be a bit of a shambles! Pesky tv controllers..... I just hope Andy's match tomorrow is on at a half decent time for us - @judmoo on Twitter said 6.30pm ish - but not sure if that mean local or UK time. Can't wait to see Andy in action again.

It always seems to me that they couldn't organise the proverbial....and it is very clear that they are ruled by the TV companies. Pretty gutless in my opinion and especially disrespectful (and I rarely use this over-used term) to the defending champion. Now the weather has already affected matches. I am seething as you can tell and have sent tweets to the US Open but they've been ignored. Just hope Andy is keeping calm.
Any chance that they might schedule Andy's matches to suit our times here in the UK? :GBflag: Ha!

I think Sky do try to ask for that sometimes. Though it can backfire if they put Andy on first as Andy does not like playing in the morning.

Andy didn't like playing in the mornings when he was a young thing just starting on tours, when his diet was chocs bars and long lies in ,things have evolved since he is more mature and very professional now and adjusts to all eventualities being a top player.

Andy first on the night session tomorrow (midnight UK) which is just about the time heavy showers are forecast. As has been said so many times, the scheduling is ridiculous.

Annoying Andy so late in getting his campaign underway, just hope the weather doesn't play too much havoc! Of course though Andy is professional and he does enjoy night matches at Flushing Meadows.
I didn't think it possible that Croft could get any more on my wick but she has by suggesting that Andy would be insulted if, as reigning champion, he had not been scheduled on the night session. This despite Greig Rusedski saying that Ivan Lendl had told him earlier that they expected to be second on Ashe in the daytime. Greig putting up a very good case for why the scheduling is ridiculous but Croft was having none of it.

Think many of us share that with you
Last night on Sky they said the forecast was better than thought earlier. Judy was commentating on the Heather Watson match and they asked her about the timing. Judy confirmed that they thought that Andy would have been on in the afternoon. Judy politely mentioned that things can go wrong when matches are scheduled for the night match and then get called off because of the weather.
I have been so looking forward to seeing Andy in action, but a midnight start here and getting up at 6.30 for work just isn't going to happen :( Quite happy to stay up for semis and final, but I am too old to cope with it the whole tourney! Will just have to hope I am waking up to good news in the morning. Best of luck Andy, let's get the show on the road!

The USO really needs to pull it's socks up regarding it's scheduling as a whole given the fiasco's of the last 3/4 years regarding the weather and opportunities they could have taken to be even handed to ALL the players.
Wishing Andy all the very best of luck tonight.:thumbup::thumbup:

They certainly seem to be ostriches sticking their heads in the sand when any thoughts about bad weather are ever expressed! The most frustrating thing about this, just like situations in the past, is that this is not an unexpected event - it was clearly a distinct possibility.

Soooooooo, there's a revised OOP out for today. When play resumes it'll be DelPotro's match on Ashe to finish and then followed by Andy v Llodra. Could be a bit later than midnight for us in the UK but not as bas as if they tried to do all the Ladies matches as well.

That was such a fun match! Well worth staying up for! And that last game was brilliant! Andy's returning of that llodra underarm serve! I really hope someone has a video of it (the one USO tweeted can't be seen in UK). And loved the last point where llodra held up his arms to say hit me and Andy lobbed him instead. Llodra chucked his racket in the air. Was hilarious! And huge smiles!
