Forgot to say a time. I'd prefer 7.30pm.
However ... remember that if the rubber goes to 5 sets AND there's any delay getting back to hotels that a bit of extra time is no bad thing to allow for getting changed and tarted up (i.e. putting on a clean top ...) for the evening.
So 8pm might be safer?

Hi folks, thanks for all the replies so far. Angie, Ally and I have looked at a few venues which would be handy for trains, buses and the hotels you've all chosen. Not to mention looking out for your wallets as I'm sure the LTA will take a heft chunk. So at moment we are looking at Pizza Express in Queen St, 1min from George square to help you get your bearings. We will of course need to give them approximate numbers and they will also use this to charge us a deposit.
We realise folk may not wish to commit until they know if they have tickets but to ensure we can get the booking could we ask that....
You make your decision on the basis of having tickets (as we can reduce numbers easier than adding them) and let us know by next Thursday (11th) if you think you want to be included. That way we can make the booking based on a fairly likely number. Ally is adding us all to a spreadsheet as we post.
Many thanks and can't wait to see you all again.
Oh yes please. Just me! Don't mind the time. Great chance to catch up and meet with everybody. Many thanks.
Count me in please.Really enjoyed the Birmingham meal, thanks for organising

Waiting for you to make me a leon one roy as i cant seem to source one ;)
You can count me in. I think I can leave the car in Carlton Place, which isn't far from Queen Street (otherwise it would mean a bus ride).

If the restaurant is one near George Square, cardboard Andy can be left in our room at PI (in the morning before the tennis) and I'll bring him with me to the restaurant.

Then there are the downsides. Cardboard Andy does have mobility issues - he's a bit unsteady on his legs, might find the stairs challenging etc. Would need a lot of TLC!

Hi folks,
Update on our meal.
Firstly, we have changed the venue to Di Maggios Royal Exchange Square (8pm) - both venues required a deposit of £5 per head (£235) but Di Maggios will pay it directly back to Angie once bill is settled, whereas at Pizza Exoress we would have had to be collecting it from everyone individually which would be a hassle. Anyway it's a lovely restaurant and very central, very close to station and your hotels. And we are sure Cardboard Andy will get a warm welcome!
We are on the set large group menu - £15.95 for 2 courses, £18.95 for 3 courses. You can have a look here.
http://www.dimaggios.co.uk/royal_exchange_square
If anyone drops out can you please make sure you pay Angie your deposit - preferably at Saturday's match- as its non refundable and we need to be sure she's not left out of pocket.
As in Birmingham each table will settle their own bill.
Look forward to seeing you all!

I hope you all have a great time. I haven't signed up as a) I need to get back to Edinburgh that night b) I haven't got a hope in hell of hearing much in such a big group, and c) I have never functioned well in big groups ie I am a complete social wuss. Given all the things I have got on between now and then I can predict fairly accurately I am going to be incredibly tired (Rheumatoid Arthritis is a complete pain in the nether regions), - at which point I do a credible impression of a fractious two year old. Not a pretty sight.....!!!

14-09-2016, 19:49
About 1minute! Seriously! Maybe 2. From PI walk diagonally across the square onto Queen St- walk down to where the gallery of modern art is- you can't miss the statue with a traffic cone on its head. Turn right walking towards back of the gallery, you are in exchange place and you will see Di Maggios, it's just beyond the back of the museum and Ziizzis, it's on the left beside cafe Rogano
We are staying just outside Glasgow so will be driving in for the meal. Hunting for parking near the restaurant. If anyone has any parking suggestions, they'd be appreciated.

You know Andy was refused entrance to a bar and he was the only one who hadn't had a drop of alcohol

Really enjoyed the meal and it was lovely to meet the "real"people behind the forum names. Thanks so much for organising, having a get together really added to the whole weekend

The door guys did keep him safe though. They obviously thought he'd cause a scene.

Fantastic meal Saturday really enjoyed it. Always love all getting together on the Saturday nights x
When I left, there were a policeman and policewoman standing outside. I didn't let on about the amount of red wine, I'd drunk, or the drive back to the hotel. I managed to get back safely. I did eat, eventually, the rest of my pizza.
I will forever remember that night! walking through the streets of Glasgow carrying Cardboard Andy (yes I was given Andy to carry!) and the few of us singing the Andy song - and the people we walked passed trying not to oogle, laugh, etc. the number of confused faces was hysterical
And why was there a traffic cone on the head of the guy on the horse statue?

Your post reads as if you drank a lot of red wine, then drove back to the hotel. Hopefully just phrased ambiguously.

Thanks to Angie, Ali and WW for setting this up. I enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with folks from Serbia.
Great choice of restaurant, loved it.
I look forward to seeing you all again next time
