Just turned sound off, can't take any more of that commentary

Amazing at 0-3 after losing 8 games in a row, I found a solution
At the same time, Andy found his solution and won the next 6 games lol
time to party, Queens all over again (but not the final yet!)

Bad or good?
It was after they shook hands and were walking to the chair & Foggy started speaking and Andy said something like "are you talking to me?" and gave him a look.

Andy back out on court for the fans.

That. Was. AMAZING!!!!!!!!! :)

Full credit to Fognini, with a more even temperament I think he could easily have been a top 5 player, and he certainly played like one for the middle part of that match - but as always I have to take my hat off to my hero Mr. Murray. So, so, SO pleased with that win, I'm leaping about the house!!! ;)

Take care... :)

Andy was in bed on Wednesday, hardly practiced Thursday, then played Friday, Saturday (finished singles then doubles) and Sunday, Andy was wacked and serving at 60% on Sunday

Andy has to wear the Team GB clothing rather than his normal clothing and that is sponsored by Adidas. Maybe he is allowed to wear his own shoes.
I have noticed most of the players wear their own shoes if they normally don't wear Adidas. Jo wears her Asics.

Andy through to the quarter finals with gritty determination finding the tennis to counter the Fognini spell, stepped up under pressure though Fabio gave him an opening as he couldn't sustain the level, championship tennis sometimes just involves finding enough on the day-not always going to be perfect performances. Perhaps was living a bit dangerously but produced when it mattered for terrific comeback, was very edgy at times but Andy still thrilled us to go through, well done!:cheer::cheer::cheer::clap::clap:

I didn't notice and (neither did Simon Reed) but apparently the umpire wrongly overruled Fognini's serve on game point at 3-1, no wonder he was hacked off but thank god Nili did. :phew:

I have noticed most of the players wear their own shoes if they normally don't wear Adidas. Jo wears her Asics.
All the Adidas contracted players seem to be wearing the same kit with their country's flag on it regardless of who's sponsoring their team kit. Andy's the only one I've seen who's wearing another company's kit. It wouldn't happen with a Nike player. I wonder if Andy stipulated that with UA that he would always wear TeamGB kit at the Olympics.

WimbledonWestie
11-08-2016, 19:10
Doubt Andy felt he had any rhythm after Fognini's erratic first set (I've experienced this at club level) so when foggy got going he took time (a long time) to adjust to having to really play and compete.

Re the shoes- Rebecca Adlington was saying that although team gb wear official kit (which I like, not every nation does it) the swimmers can stick with their own regular suits as they are considered technical equipment as they affect performance /comfort while performing and runners are same with their spikes. So that must be why Andy is able to wear his shoes- glad he's got red ones to match the team kit though.

It was after they shook hands and were walking to the chair & Foggy started speaking and Andy said something like "are you talking to me?" and gave him a look.

Andy back out on court for the fans.
My take on that was that Foggy was chuntering away to the ump or anybody who would listen to him! I didn't think he was speaking directly to Andy. He never shut up till he got to his chair!

Well done Andy but so glad he did not have to serve it out. As it is the Olympics my 14-year old son watched with me and said during the last game "I want Andy to win but feel so sorry for anyone having to serve with that sun in their eyes". I know Andy was waiting for the crowd during his last service game but I also felt he was trying to slow things down to try and get the shade over at the end he might have had to serve the match out, and probably would have got a very tricky sun angle.
This is clearly a tournament where the court conditions greatly influence the match and I also noticed that Andy in the second half of the third set was concentrating on keeping the ball in play. Phew! Well done Andy! :)

But that's Fognini all over. Disinterested first set, playing to the crowd. Woke up and focused in 2nd set, Andy played passive so gave him a chance. 3rd set Fognini blinked and went full circle back to how he played in first. Even his box knew what was coming. BTW, the standard of line calling in this event is appalling. Players have lost all confidence in the calls.

Not just line calling, have you ever seen a slower and less interested bunch of ball 'boys'? Even the models in Madrid did a better job.

It's really not as easy as it looks you know! Balls coming at you at 100mph .... I should know, I used to be a line judge! Having said that, i should think the Olympics would have the highest grade line judges same as DC or centre court in the Grand Slams.

Was trying to cook with the laptop on and my partner was faffing and getting in the way. This was at 1-1 and a break down. He said "He'll be fine!" so I shouted at him.
I was much nicer about half an hour later. Clearly my other half has more faith than me....

Straight sets today please Andy! For my relationship....
