Sallydaisy

Saved by Cam, he now has Ad.
Back to deuce. Key game this methinks.
Sallydaisy

4-4, good hold for Cam, must be a bit demoralising for FAA.
Sallydaisy
28-10-2021, 12:27
5-5. Could be heading for a tie-break unless Norrie can break serve now.
5-5. Am hoping Cam can finish the match in this set, as Emma is due to start soon and I have Jamie and Bruno on the laptop and Cam on the tv.
Sallydaisy

Cam 5-1 up at the change of ends with a serve to come.
Sallydaisy
28-10-2021, 12:45
*5-2 as FAA gets a break back ... and has 2 serves to come.
5-3*
6-3* Match point Cameron Norrie!
Cam blows two match points on his own serve at 6-3...
Sallydaisy
28-10-2021, 12:47
Well well well ... FAA breaks back twice to deny Cam serving it out.
FAA *5-6

Tough hold for Cameron with at least 3 break point chances for FAA.
But the Brit took it on his 2nd Ad chance.
Got Emma and Jamie/Bruno on laptop and Cam on tv - too much for the old brain:rolling:
Sallydaisy

Cam has had 3 game points, all saved by FAA.
Ad Cam again ...
Sallydaisy
28-10-2021, 13:31
Wow, that was one heck of a hold from Cameron Norrie. FAA still a break ahead though in the deciding set.
FA-A to serve for it at 5-4.
Sallydaisy

Cam holds for 4-5 but it's FAA who will serve for the match after the change of ends.
Sallydaisy
28-10-2021, 13:45
GSM Felix Auger-Aliassime 2'6, 7'6, 6'4.
He did well to come back from a set down but it must be said Norrie faltered in the 2nd set tie-break when he had chances to take the match.
:crying: Really bad luck, Cam.
JAMES4578
28-10-2021, 13:57
Pity for Cameron, he really should have closed it out in 2nd set breaker though. Felix certainly raised his game in the 3rd mind you.
One that got away, sadly.

So, what's the sums for Cam to make the WTF now? Does he need to make the final? Is Cam entered into Stockholm?
https://live-tennis.eu/en/atp-race FAA out but Ruud, Hurkacz and Sinner all still going in Paris - Cam needs to overtake two of them.
So we're cheering on Alcaraz then...
JAMES4578

Could have been more tricky, well done Cameron! Hopefully can make WTF but impressive season regardless.
So we're cheering on Alcaraz then...Alcaraz wins!
Alcaraz beats Sinner, so Cam will overtake Sinner if he wins his next match!
The site you linked to (thanks!) has Sinner eliminated from the race in any case, so he can concentrate on the Next Gen finals.
Wouldn't Sinner rather be a reserve the the Tour finals in his home country rather than participate in Next Gen finals?
I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows?
Ruud, Hurkacz, Sinner and Cam all listed for Stockholm here: https://www.dartsrankings.com/tennis/stockholm

Paris Masters R16: [10] Cameron Norrie, WR13=CH v Taylor Fritz, WR26 (CH24 in 2020)
This is a must win match for Norrie if he wants to keep his ATP Tour Final hopes alive.
The 2 have met 7 times before with a win each in 2021 and 2019 and 2-1 to Norrie in 2020 giving him the slight 'edge' with a 4-3 Win/Loss over Fritz. The 24yr old American has produced some very good tennis this year and given several top players a run for their money. However, 26yr old Norrie has proved to everyone that he has the stamina and game to outlast most other players and he'll be fighting for that Turin place - but possibly be a little nervous because of that!

An awful tie break from Cam, and he's out. 6-3 7-6(3).
JAMES4578
04-11-2021, 15:10
Certainly disappointing, Cameron had chance to turn it around but was unable to capitalise and liiitle went right in the TB. Fritz though win a few god wins.
Accordig to the Daily Fail, Cameron has tested positive for Covid - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-10322863/Andy-Murray-says-Emma-Raducanu-deserves-win-Sports-Personality-Year-award.html
While the spread of Covid was cited as the reason, Sportsmail understands that one specific factor involved was Cam Norrie joining the many athletes in the UK in testing positive for the virus.
The British No 1 was not said to be suffering from symptoms. His representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

Difficult to call this match isn't it?
Cam hasn't yet found his form, or a win, and seems to still be struggling to shake off the after-effects of Covid which he had in the off-season - probably not helped by the disruption to his training and fitness regimes. Seb Korda is currently holed up in a hotel room after testing positive and is yet to play - although he's posted photos of his practice sessions hitting a tennis ball against the bedroom wall.

Cam's awful start to the season shows no sign of ending.
Such a shame for him after the successes of last year. He's a load of points to defend.
Perhaps best to keep training but skip playing for a few weeks and get past the Covid stuff.
I think it affected Dan's performances also back end of last year after he'd had it.
Edit - Cam is next due to play in Rotterdam ATP500 w/c 7th February.
So, that's 3 weeks to properly recuperate and train to go again!
I watched the beginning set and just couldn't watch any more. Nothing was going right for him. Hopefully Cam can fully recover before his next match.

Getting a bit sick of the sight of the newly brutal Felix, who now epitomises Fognini's comments about the young players. Shame, but Cam did himself justice with a very solid performance unlike Dan in Oz and Andy last night - makes it that bit easier to take. Hopefully Doha is a happy hunting ground and no Felix rematches.
