Just heard Andy being introduced but Sky still showing Berdych and Granollers. Now over to Andy, still knocking up. Not sure how long I'll stay awake although have slept for a couple of hours. Jamie Delgado courtside. Good luck Andy!
Kevin Anderson awaits the winner having just beaten Gasquet 6-2 6-4 who played poorly.
Andy won the toss and elected to serve.
only 9:30 here , im watching
Andy looking like he's just started the 5th set against Delpo but he holds. 1-0
Andy flexing his right shoulder quite a lot, another tough service game. 2-1
Karlovic would've been so much less physical than this, BP comes and goes. 2-2
Some respite as Andy holds to love. 3-2
Andy looks tired , but hes still playing well , did notice the shoulder thing Bardot
Andy has called for the trainer , shoulder issue
Andy holds but has called the physio for his shoulder. 4-3
medical time out
comes back out & breaks , serving for the 1st set
Anyone with a bad shoulder should get that trainer's number. ;) Andy breaks. 5-3
 true & he wasnt too bad to look at either :p
Helped by a Djokosmash from Pico at 30-30, Andy holds for the set. 6-3
Anyone with a bad shoulder should get that trainer's number. ;) Andy breaks. 5-3

Andy only 41% first serves but winning 71% second serves.
Well done, Andy - keep it going!
Too many errors from Pico & Andy breaks. 1-0
Flicking between Andy and the Olympics -Gatlin out of the 200m final and Andy gets an early break in the second - wahey!!

Break restored and returns to his seat for more rubbing 2-1

Andy back in front. C'mon Andy - I would like some sleep tonight.
the " here we go Monaco " crowd chanting didnt help him much there :p

Good play from Andy & errors from Pico, another break. 4-1
.................. and there's the double break - great stuff!
Holds to 15 comfortably. 5-1
Okay, Andy, serve it out please - no mistakes.
Andy put on a clinic in that 2nd set , some of those passing shots were awesome !!!!!
on he goes
Well done, Champ! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: Poor Pico - Murrayed twice in 8 days. Good night everybody.
This was like a Mo Farah 5000M heat, just get through safely (assume the shoulders ok) and he did that very well.
Anyone catch what Andy & Pico said at the end? Assume it wasn't tetchy.
Nice quick stress free win...Well Done!!......Night Folks!!!
I remember in 2012 after the Olympics and Andy won his first match in Toronto/Montreal they presented Andy with a cake in recognition of him winning the gold medal. Generous Canucks, miserable Yanks. :p ;)

I wouldn't have thought so. I believe they are good friends and Pico was smiling - almost!
Another late one tomorrow (today), Andy first on centre against Anderson, not before midnight UK time.
With this victory, Andy is now on 599 career wins. :shades: Maybe that's what they're saving the cake for. ;)
Well done Andy :yahoo::yahoo:

watched on catch-up over breakfast.. Glad Andy could get it done before I have to work... no 3 hour :coaster:... nice and easy and relaxed start to the day! :bravo:
Pleased to see the win flash up this morning. Couldn't manage to stay up for it. Glad he won, but would not have been totally distraught if he had lost. Hope the shoulder is ok.

Couldn't stay up to watch about last night but am about to watch while working this a.m!
I woke up half way through the 1st game and once he loosened up he was too smart for Pico again. I wasn't too concerned about his shoulder although he did have the trainer on at least 3 times but if he feels he needs more rest before the Open, he now has a good reason to pull out.;)

My thoughts exactly. He looked tired but went for everything as usual. Some fantastic shots.
Well done Andy Onwards and upwards!

Fraid I missed it, still struggling after too many late nights, well done Andy hope shoulder is ok, if not don't risk it with US open coming up.
Well done Andy.  Hope he is taking care of himself and not trying to do too much. I hope he is keeping something in reserve for New York and possibly the DC tie.
Well done to our tired and weary champion!! :cheer: A solid and convincing win and a hefty warning to Argentina! :battle: I am a bit battle weary too so I decided not to stay up for this match as I knew I wouldn't be able to stay with it. But I promised myself if I woke up I would dip into the phone to see what was happening. And sure enough, I duly woke, dipped into the phone and nearly had a heart attack when I saw the trainer with Andy! I do hope it's only a niggle. But of course, I then watched the match to the finish. I really thought he played well...it never looked in doubt. Another late one tonight! I really don't mind if Andy wins or loses against Anderson....the protection of his body comes first IMO. Haven't had time to read all the posts here yet...look forward to catching up later. Car to MOT first!
Andy is a great champion. He knows his limits. I should imagine the shoulder thing was a tightness due to tiredness and so much play. There is still time before the us and the DC. Like others have said I don't think his shoulder really changed his play. Some days you just have a niggle
properly shoulders a little stiff from the weight of gold hung round his neck nowadays
I think that I'd rather that he pulled out than rest his shoulder for the USO. It would be a shame as he's catching up with Nole, but even more of a shame if it affects him adversely for the USO.

Great match by Andy throwing down the gauntlet to those sitting resting!!!
Well done Andy and to those of you who stayed up / got up for the match.
Great stuff - just watched the recording. In some ways I think the shoulder helped......no messing, just got on with the job and shortened the points as far as possible. Fairly clinical IMHO.
Anderson may be a step too far with the tiredness though. Actually I thought playing Pico was the better option because Karlovic can take so much mentally out of a player with frustration etc. Andy needs his mind in the right place. Hopefully the shoulder is just minor - he looked ok after the second bout of treatment.
At the net apparently Monaco asked Andy how his shoulder was and not in a concerned way. It could be said (and I'm sure we would if an opponent of Andy did it) that the MTO did break Monaco's rhythm but he should know that Andy is always reluctant to call the trainer and rarely does it. Friends can say these sort of things to each other without any lasting ill will. ;)
