I bet Andy is itching to get back home to Kim, Sophia, Maggie and Rusty.

No chance..he's off to New York. Nor can I see much chance of 'a nice rest' which is being mentioned. One day or perhaps two at the most- he possibly starts on Monday.

Feeling a bit choked for him but it had to happen. Strange, I have had my usual nerves every match through the Olympics and CIncinatti but this evening I sat with quiet confidence expecting a certain win.
What do I know ? Back to peeping between the fingers next week

Away overnight so missed the match. Won't bother watching the recording. Had a feeling Cilic was going to win, sure a fully fit and rested Andy would have taken the title.

Andy can hold his head up high even though he did lose this one. I could see it would be Cilic's day right from the off.

Not to be for Andy last night but, as we all knew, he was running on fumes all week, so to reach the final was a plus plus. What a fantastic summer he has given us so recharge the batteries this week Andy and see you in the big Apple!

Feeling down this morning as I hate Andy to lose to anyone and especially Cilic.

OK, I'll bite. What's Marin done?

Judged by the handshake at the end, I'm guessing Marin isn't one of Andy's best mates on tour.

Andy would have beaten Cilic in best of 5 but it's always the case against the big hitters when they're on their game in best of 3, Andy needs to be playing at a consistently high level to compete. Cilic at the US Open was able to produce this level for 2 sets but then couldn't sustain it. If only Andy had been able to take him to a tie-break.

Hoping Cilic can beat the Frenchies over 5 and that Croatia and GB get the 3 wins needed so that Andy can win the rematch in the DC Final

By what he has said it would seem Andy is pretty upbeat and, although hating to lose a final, seems he was expecting little from Cincy
He says he is in a good place so - 'New York, New York. Make it There Make it Anywhere'

Good Luck Andy - rest up where you can

He has served a drugs ban.

I think it was a tough loss for me to watch mainly because I'm not a fan of cilic. But as for Andy, he shouldn't be down, he should be happy with making it to the final after a long summer, queens, wimbie and a gold. Losing. A match now takes the pressure of for the us, none of this when we the streak end pressure that the press like to pile on. I don't think this result would have any bearing if they met at the US.

Feeling flat today! But keeping busy! Good to hear Andy's upbeat comments about Cincy....he himself didn't expect to get to the final. I can't remember who said it's not the falling down that matters, but the getting up. So true and Andy is marvellous at the 'getting up'. He will do so at USO and I'm sure he will make yet another final. Glad we have it to look forward to. We have a few days to catch up with sleep, chores etc and then we're off again!! :swingin:

Andy did himself and everyone else proud in Cinci. Most people wouldn't have competed after the Olympic Gold. I feel flat today and, not liking, Cilic doesn't help. Do hope he is not at the 02 in November!

He really is struggling isn't he? It's amazing he got as far as he did this week. Cilic was a lucky guy.

Yes I'll definitely be a Cilic fan for DC semi weekend, but that will change again as soon as he's seen off the French ;)

What a wonderful Summer Andy has had so far. Two finals and two major trophies. I loved his positive attitude in his press conference. I'm SO proud of you Andy especially giving your all in Cincinnati with that terrible cold

Onwards and upwards!!

When a journalist thinks they know better than the player. :big grin: From Cilic's press conference.

Q. Biggest title since US Open. Even during that you beat Andy Murray on the way. Did that come into your mind at all, and how does it feel to get another big title under your belt?
MARIN CILIC: I didn't get if you said that I beat him there or didn't beat him.

Q. On the way to the final.
MARIN CILIC: Yeah, I didn't beat him.

Q. No, I'm saying you did.
MARIN CILIC: No, I didn't.

Q. I thought you played him at the Open.
MARIN CILIC: No, he lost that year. Or I don't know if he played. Or Stan. Doesn't matter.

Poor Andy, he really was suffering with a cold. Love his positive attitude and how honest he is.

Andy did remarkably well to reach the final while suffering from a cold.:clap: Whilst a shame that Cincy was impacted, it's much better that he got a cold here than in NY - he was so disappointed after his cold-affected loss to Kando. Andy, like many players, often picks up coldy-type symptoms in the US, and many believe it's because the Americans don't set the air con correctly resulting in the players body temps yo-yo-ing too drastically. Hopefully having a cold now gets it out of Andy's system and he's 100% for NY.

I am normally distraught when he loses and grumpy for the next few days. I wasn't on this one. I thought it totally ridiculous that those who played in Rio didn't get an exemption from Cinicinatti. As I said elsewhere the only one who should be concerned about the Cincinatti result, is Raonic. He should have thrashed an exhausted Mr M in the semi. Losing in straight sets should worry him.

Yes, a number of players had colds (with Rafa it seemed to be the cough that was so debilitating) so I wonder if it is due to the air conditioning.
