R2: Andy v Granollers
Andy leads their H2H by 6-1 and beat Granollers in R64 at Indian Wells earlier this year.
It's 7-1 if you count in a Futures win in 2003 on clay in Spain ... and 3-0 to Andy regardless on hard courts.
The 30yr old Spaniard is still ranked #45 though and can be a tricky opponent if he's on top of his game.
Full details can be found here:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/players/fedex-head-2-head/andy-murray-vs-marcel-granollers/MC10/G710
The match is due to be played Thursday sometime ... court and time tbc.
I'm hoping it won't be a night match as Friday is my last day at work before a week's holiday so I need to be on it! .... pretty much means I won't be able to watch if it is ;)
On the plus side I will be able to watch next week :boogie: But I have a feeling Andy may well play mostly night matches this year ...

They may well swap round like they have done today. So Wawrinka at night, Murray in the day? Depends if any Yanks got a big match I suppose.

Sally you forget to give us his inside leg measurement and what he eats for breakfast. Andy didn't have time.:lol:
Luckily regardless of what time it starts I'll actually be able to watch this one. I saw some of last night's match with my breakie. Andy looked good :)
Eurosport has just announced Andy second on Ashe and not before 6.00 pm UK time.

Won't be able to watch this unfortunately as I am going to my mother's this morning and won't be seeing any tennis until Saturday evening. Good luck to Andy today. Let us hope he is not affected by the heat.
Radio Five live sports extra will be doing live commentary from 4pm and so should be doing this one as well. If not, I hope the US Open radio will do it.
I've gone for another Andy win, which hopefully, will be in straight sets.
All the very best of luck today, Andy :thumbup::thumbup:
Yay! It's in the day time All the best Andy!

Given what happened to Jo Konta today, the more night matches the better! Good luck Andy! Awful wasn't it?! I was screaming at my TV "Get some ice all over her!" It seemed to take forever to get the ice and I think she actually had to ask for it herself ... good job she was able to!
If the BBC weather App is anything to go by, it looks like Andy's match could be played under the roof.
Yup, BBC weather indicates showers in the afternoon - http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5128581
But MSN is showing rain in the morning - https://www.msn.com/en-gb/weather/today/New-York,New-York,United-States/we-city-40.7146,-74.0071?q=new-york&form=PRWKWB&iso=US
And it looks like being a cooler day than yesterday too.
Petchey has said that Andy has been practicing under the roof just in case.

But Loses to Lots of winning Lobs from Andy
Halep has just won, so Andy will be walking out very soon.
Typically, radio five live sports extra have changed their mind and have decided to do a cricket match instead.
If anyone gets fed up with Castle's commentary, tune into US Open radio and you can listen to Virginia Wade droning on instead.
Unfortunately have theatre tickets for tonight  Know what I'd rather be doing :)
Go Andy!!!!
Why is the roof remaining closed when it's not raining? Simona Halep said it was a little cold playing under the roof so very different conditions.

Maybe they are expecting some more showers.
The players have just walked out.

The rain is expected within the next hour. It is possible they may open the roof later on during the match.

Rusedski crediting Lendl with the improvement to Andy's serve compared to when working with Amelie.
I thought Andy said, before Lendl's return, that he had been working on the serve with Jamie's coach and also consulting a number of coaches who were involved with coaching Juniors but why should that stand in the way of the 'everything is down to Lendl' brigade?
Andy forcing errors from Granny. 2-0
Early break to Andy 2-0!
Only 1 first serve so good hold from 0-30. 3-0
First serve is AWOL at the moment but still 3-0.

Enjoying the commentary on the US Open radio, which is on their website (much better than the usual BBC's suspects).

Granollers holds to love, Andy annoyed at not winning the first point. 1-1

65% second serves won...pretty steady play. Well done Andy. If he can win in straights while not serving at his best it bodes well.
I was a fan of Rusedski in Davis Cup but as a commentator he's an idiot.
Well done Andy!:clap::cheer: I really enjoyed that match. A bit of a coaster in places, but great to watch. As usual, once Andy gets a handle on a match, it's up, up and away. I'm so proud of him too for his very sporting behaviour particularly in conceding a disputed point to Granny. Loved his first on court interview! And when Petch interviewed him, Andy confirmed what I had been thinking...that his low first serve % might have had something to do with the cooler, slower conditions under the roof. Granny's first serve % was low too. Perhaps I am wrong, but I think it is more likely his first serve % drops in slower conditions? But he was more than happy with the points won behind his second serve. Good old Andy!!
:grrr: not that I have anything against Lendl but :grrr:
His comment on the improvement to Andy's serve as a result of Lendl is such a lot of tosh. As you said Andy had described the process he'd undergone to make changes long before Lendl returned plus he's also said that Lendl is not big on giving technical advice, he's there for other reasons.

Missed this- messaged a friend for the score on way home and got '4-6, 1-6, 2-2, been a tough one'. Was willing Andy to hang on in til I got home to cheer him back from 2 sets down. Then got an apology for the score being wrong way round. What a scary few minutes!!! So I'm extra delighted!
So glad that Andy managed to win in straights despite the low fsp. I was a bit concerned when I saw the strapping on his left shoulder as I hadn't noticed it during his first match. Cash commented on Andy's ball toss being off line so perhaps his shoulder "problem" contributed to the fsp too.

I enjoyed the match and straight sets first two rounds with a little bit of a challenge is perfect IMO.
Had to go out after the first set so watched the recording of the rest. Thought Andy made some great second serves and his play was so aggressive compared to the first round match. Think Mr Lentils must have had a word in his shell-like! A joy to behold and so sustained even when he made some mistakes. Luvverly jubberly.

My point was that as he won it doesn't matter. Most likely there will be no problem with it in the next round, sometimes you just have one of those days. SO he shouldn't worry about it, be happy with the win, it's not something that needs work. Off days happen, I suspect as I'm sure he knows that was all this was. As Borris says sometimes you win ugly, but a win is a win.
He should be pleased with his run so far, not too much energy spent as in a good position to go the distance.

Yep I agree. Due to conditions anyway I think.
Andy himself said that the conditions affected both their first serves. He was pleased with his match so I see no reason why we shouldn't be.
I think Andy has every reason to be pleased with his match...Granny played well and gave Andy a good stiff test.
