ATP 250s this week Chengdu and Shenzhen
Chengdu will hold its first ATP 250 after the Kuala Lumpur 250 was relocated there. It is a new facility, outdoor hard courts and has previously hosted the champions tour.

Berdych playing again
Yeah he is playing in Shenzhen next week. Maybe looking to go a few steps further than semis after today's loss.
CHENGDU - Dom is due to play in chengdu next week but rather than with his partner from this week Henri, he will be playing with Nenad Zimonjic
SHENZHEN - Fleming and his partner Lipsky are playing in Shenzhen next week. They reached the semis in Metz and will be looking to build on those wins
SHENZHEN - Harrington, Whittington, Vanni and Mischa Zverev made it through quailes.
SHENZHEN - tomorrow Vanni and Whittington play each other and M. Zverev plays wildcard Li. Fognini is also in action tomorrow
These tournaments mark the start of the Asian swing. It is the third year for Shenzhen and the third yay in which China had hosted all three tournie types 250, 500 and masters 1000. Of course the swing also includes a tournie in Japan (500).
There are players who are still looking to make the Race to London competing this week. In Chengdu Theim (7th place) and Kyrgios (13th place). While Thiem stands a very good chance of keeping his 7th or even moving higher, it seems unlikely in Nick's case. In Shenzhen Berdy (9th place) and Goffin (11th) place will also be chasing points for their bids. Whilst Berdy seems to have make the finals a goal, Goffin would probably be happy with a top 10 finish to the year. I'd like to see Goffin make the 10 too so I'll be cheering him on this week.
CHENGDU - Anderson returns from injury to play this week
Casper Rudd aged 17 from Norway makes his debut in an ATP main draw with his WC
Dimitrov looks to return to the top 20
Theim is top seed for 4th time this year, currently second for tournies won this year with Murray and Stan (djoko leading with 7).
CHENGDU - great to see Monaco got the win today, playing on a protected ranking. He got it done in just over an hour. He will play lopez in the next round, he is playing doubles with Lopez this week too.
Shenzhen - Collin Fleming and lipsky are in action in the doubles tomorrow against Kukushkin and Robert. They are fourth on court two, their opponents wil each be playing singles on the same court first.
Fleming and Lipsky lost in straights.
SHENZHEN - A. Zverev had to withdraw minutes before his match on Wednesday. He arrived late from his win in st p. And was suffering from fatigue. Lucky Loser Fabbiano took his place, won the match and is through to round 2.
Alex's older brother Mischa beat fognini and is through to play gasguet in the quarters.
Sadly Goffin was defeated by Jaziri, who plays Tippy in the next round.
After his loss last week, Berdych is back in action this week trying to defend his title and move closer to Nadal in the Race.
CHENGDU - Dimitrov beat lajovic to get his 200th career win.
Lopez defeated Monaco
Troicki defeated Norway's Rudd and plays Baghdatis who defeated Carreno Busta
Sadly Dom and Zimonjic lost their match today and are another doubles seed out early.
Theim was looking to play is 100th match of the year (singles and doubles), however Stepenek had to withdraw so LL took their place in the doubles. He will now play his 100th match of 2016 Thursday in the singles.

CHENGDU - back from injury Anderson hit 24 aces and saved 2 match points in a second set tie break to defeat kyrgios. He is through to his 5th quarter of the year where he plays Troicki. Troicki beat baghdatis for the first time in 6 years despite trailing their head to head 4-1. Marcos was probably paying for his long match in the earlier round.
Anderson leads his head to head with Troicki 2-1.
CHENGDU - Kyrgios is also out of the doubles as he and Troicki lost the doubles match they played after they had both been involved in singles action.
SHENZHEN - Defending champ Berdy came through in two tight tie break sets against Kukushkin. They had the same number of points in the match. Next up he faces Vesely who he beat in the quarters last year, he leads the head to head 2-0
SHENZHEN - Lucky loser, fabbiono's run was ended today by Bellucci. Bellucci is up against tomic (who beat Harrison), in the quarters.
Tomorrow's quarters also include Gasguet v M Zverev and Tippy v Jaziri

A few interesting matches, though pity in a sense that Thiem and Dimitrov in same half in Chengdu. Would be good to see Gasquet and Berdych squaring off for the Shenhzen title.
Anyone know why the title of this thread now includes Kuala Lumpur? It didn't when I set it up as that tournament doesn't exist anymore it was replaced by Chengdu

CHENGDU - Lopez lost to Khachanov from Moscow who is 15 years his junior. K was solid on serve, facing no break points and broke Lopez just one in each set to take the match. Lopez was looking to reach his 5th semi of the year.
K will play the winner of the match between Troicki and Anderson. Troicki is currently a set up and they are on serve in the second
CHENGDU - Troicki did win his match and went through into the semi. Anderson was not back to his best yet. So it is troicki vs Khachanov in one semi.
Dimitrov came back from a set down to win his match and faces Ramos-violas who defeated Theim in less than an hour. I think Theim is tired he's played a lot and is also in action next week in Beijing.

They said Thiem was running on fumes later. He is mad if he playing all these tournaments. It could well mean he misses out on a place at the 02 which he looked sure to make earlier in the year.
SHENZHEN - gasguet came through a tight match against Misaca Zverev, in just over two hours. Mischa had reached his first quarter this year and was also looking to make his first semi in 6 years. Gasguet will play tippy who is through to his first semi since 2013 after injuries.
Thomas Berdych also came through his match, thought it wasn't easy he said he was still happy with his play and your can't play your best all the time. He plays bellucci in the next round and admits that it will be hard as Bellucci has been playing well this week.

Looks like Thiem running on empty and whilst probably not likely should reconsider playing next week,certainly looks like a good performance from Micha and promising,am a fan of Gasquet and should come through against Tipsy (having a good run) Hopefully will Berdych and Bellucci will live up to expectations.
I agree with a lot of that James. Except I am hoping for a win for tippy lol. It's been a hard run for him back from injury so I think he needs the points more ;);)
I don't think Theim was remotely serious when he said he would look at his schedule. Unless he actually meant look at but not change in any way lol. I would like Berdych to come through for the title though
CHENGDU - nextgen star muscovite Karan Khachanov ousted Troicki in less than 90 minutes to go into to his first ATP tour final. He was solid on serve again today, something that has helped him take down three seeded opponents in his way to the final. Initially I was hoping for a win for Troicki but having seen how well this guy has played this week, I am happy for him.
SHENZHEN - Gasguet came through his match against Tippy match against tippy to get into his 26th final. Gasguet was leading 6-4 4-1 when tippy had to retire citing a groin injury. Tippy has managed to make it up to world number 224 after falling to 1027 whilst suffering from injuries. He said that though he's suffered from this same injury before and was in pain moving around, he hoped that it wasn't anything serious.

CHENGDU - with Dimitrov out in three, losing two ties breaks it's now Ramos- Vinolas vs nextgen Khachanov in the final. It would be great to see another nextgen take their first tour title after Zverev won in St p last week
SHENZHEN - Berdych won his match 6-2 7-5 against bellucci. He was better on serve with more points won, more serves in and more aces. Though his serving was much better in the first set. He only faced one break point in the match which he dropped during the second set, but still got the win. He will face gasguet in the final.

Elsewhere in the singles Nextgen star Khachanov dropped the first set in a tie break and has just taken the second in another breaker. There were some great shots from him in that breaker, agreed with the commentators (which is rare), that he took that set and wasn't handed it. Now into a deciding set with the Russian serving first.
CHENGDU - so pleased to say that nextgen star won his match and his first tour title in the first edition of the CHENGDU 250. He took the third set 6-3! He will jump around 50 places most likely to a career high of 55. He is the 9th first time champion this year!!

SHENZHEN - Berdych defends his title after beating in gasguet in the final. 2 tie break sets and 6-3 in the third it was a mirror of the score line in Chengdu. Glad that Berdy won.
