View Full Version : Beijing 2016, R1: Andy v Andreas Seppi
Lorenzi won only two games, Andy coming out very soon.
Seppi got married last month after the US Open and has played one match since, losing to Marchenko in the first round of Metz.
The Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
Good luck Andy!
Hmm I am supposed to be going out this morning. Wonder if I should delay or not....
Andy and Andreas on court now
Andy serves first and wins the first game.
Seppi saves three break points and, on his second game point, makes it 2 - 2.
Hi guys - there is now a thread for this match

There's the break! No Ivan in the box from what I can see, probably he will come for the masters.
4-2 Muzz
C'mon Muzz!
A very easy game for Andy.
First set to Andy - 6 -2 :yahoo::yahoo:
Andy breaks to take the set, he's enjoying the faster court. 6-2

Yay, first set in the bag - Murray in a hurry :cheer:
Seppi used to be better than the way he's playing in this match. No wonder he's now ranked at number 94.

Had hip surgery at the end of the last year which they say is very difficult to come back from.
That break came out of nowhere. 0-1
Where did that come from?
Seppi holds his serve, now 0 - 2.
eek I was just thinking it was safe to go out.......
Much better from Andy. I hope he now breaks Seppi's serve.
Why does he do this to us?

Told you .... COME ON ANDY!!!
4-3 - My guess is Andy will go all out to break Seppi in the next game. C'mon Andy!
Not that time. Just hold and break, Andy.
OK so I really do have to go now!
Please do this Andy!
Huge serving with 3 consecutive ACES. 5-4
5-4 - C'mon, Andy, I have things to do.
Solid game from Seppi. 5-5
Seppi playing a bit too well for my liking
Andy's really going for it 0-30.
Andy gets the win -:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
DF to lose the match, bizarre ending! :big grin:
Well done Andy! :clap::clap:
Seppi smashes into the net - 3 match points .............................. and a double fault ends it! Well done, Andy!!
Well Done Andy!!!!...welcome back!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
Andy wins 6 - 2, 7 - 5. Shame Seppi's serving let him down in the end, but he did play a lot better in the second set. Andy plays either Kravchuk or Kuznetsov in the second round.
Excellent. Not in the mood for a stressful one today.

Tighter in the 2nd but always felt Andy had the upper hand even when Steppi upped his level, glad it was in straights-well done! Given a bit of help at the end mind you :cheer::cheer::clap:

It has rained all day in Beijing and there has been no play on the outside courts. This will almost certainly mean that Andy's next match won't be until Thursday as they play catch up tomorrow (weather permitting).
Missed most of that match but glad Andy managed to brush off most of the rustiness and finish it in straights. I've always liked Seppi but hadn't known that he had hip surgery so good to see him back.
With this win, Andy passes another milestone. :thumbup:
Roger Laver @DonaldTendulkar
Murray 9th player to record 400 hard court wins @ATPWorldTour
Other 8: RF,Agassi, Connors, Djokovic, Sampras, Roddick, Chang, Edberg
People (including McEnroe) have said that this country won't know what it's got in Andy Murray until he hangs up his racquet. It's so true.
Am I the only one who doesn't care one jot how long he spends as number one? - I just want him to be introduced as a former World No 1 when he turns up at The Albert Hall for the Seniors Tour in years to come. A week will do me.
Just back.
Well done Andy!

Tend to agree with you. It would be So So nice to see him get there but, remembering just what happened 2 years ago while Andy was chasing points after the start of the year hindered by his back op, I hate to see him chasing points. Just want him to play to his full potential and rest up when and if he needs to. He has really pushed it this year - and 30 looms. Of course it looms for Djoko too so who knows what can happen
