View Full Version : Beijing 2016, Rd 2: Andy's away to the QF, beats Kuznetsov 6'2, 6'1
Andy plays Andrey Kuznetsov at lunchtime tomorrow.
They've only met once before, H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/players/fedex-head-2-head/andy-murray-vs-andrey-kuznetsov/MC10/KB54).
That's a great time for me to watch!
Good luck Andy!
At age 25, Kuznetsov is easily having his best year on tour reaching a career high of 39 in April (currently #45) having been ranked consistently around 80-90+ for the last few years. He has a win/loss this year of 28/18 and has performed well at the slams reaching the 4th round in Australia and 3rd round at Wimbledon and the US Open.
The Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup:
All the best of luck, Andy

Reading Bardot s notes has given me the collywobbles ! Come on Andy, show him who is boss
I'm sure Andy has no collywobbles at the prospect of playing Kuznetsov who has a 1-7 record against top 10 players this year although that one was in beating Wawrinka in straight sets in Miami :nailbiter: but the best all lost early there. ;)
Kerber wins in straight sets, so Andy walking out soon.
Kuznetsov threw everything at Andy and it came off. 0-1
Andy broken in the first game.

Well, the ball is getting hit hard by both. Kutsy making some good shots. Andy could do with aces/first serves to make it a bit easier for himself.
...double faults not required....
Oh dear. Not panicking yet...
Cmon Muzz!

On his fourth break point, Kuznetsov breaks back.
One of these "he who holds, wins" games I see.
Neither player getting enough first serves in. 4-2

Andy forcing the errors from Kuznetsov. 2-0
Another 3 break points lead to another break. You can hear Kuznetsov's heart breaking.

Still hasn't held a serve 2-0
Tennis TV commentator saying the winner of this will face the winner of Edmund/Bautista Agut with the favourite being Bautista Agut.
I think Kyle Edmund will give Andy more of a match than Kuznetsov.
Another DF to be broken. 1-1
Another break for Andy. 3-1
"Come on" shouts Andy as he breaks Kuznetsov's serve.

It seemed quite a difficult match for Andy in the first set, although the scoreline suggests otherwise.
Serve a bit skew-whiff but a win is a win...well done Andy!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Rather an odd match, Kuznetsov didn't hold a single service game. I don't think Andy has come out of 3rd gear yet this week, but he's not had to. By the end of the match Kuznetsov could hardly hit a single ball inside the court. Ferrer is the only seed left in Andy's half now, the bottom half looks a far more competitive affair.

Another day on media black out. Just finished the recording, think Andy still a bit jetlagged but finding the gears he needs so far, pacing himself. So far so good. Last time he faced Kyle in a quarter final it kaunched him to titles at queens, Wimbledon and Rio. So here's hoping ....
This match win means Andy now has the most match wins on your this year 57-9.
