Up to today he had never beaten Djokovic, Murray, Federer, Nadal, Ferrer, Nishikori, Raonic. He has won 4 250 titles in his career, defeating Rosol, Benjamin Becker, Troiki, and Sock in the final.
I am as confident as I can be about tomorrow. I think Mr M's desire for those points is going to be greater than Aguts desire for his first Masters 1000.
Good Luck Andy :thumbup: One more push for that:trophy tomorrow.:thanks:

Andy looks very nervous. Think he knows whats on the line here.Arguably that happened to him at the USO too. He needs Jo's mental coach ;-) or some other means of getting over this hurdle, otherwise it'll be a whole mental battle like before he won his first GS, then before he won Wimby. That was painful enough. I hope it doesn't become an issue her every time he get's no 1 opportunities.

First Could've been a bit more decisive but awesome breaker for Andy and surely in ascendancy, come on! Still can't relax too much and Bautista Agut overall performing well and not too overawed in a whole new experience for him but Murray should be class above. A few errors crept into Roberto game though and could well feel pressure now if Andy finds another level. Easily breaks for 2-0!
Pressure showed serving for the set but a class tie break from our man
Andy is undoubtedly the strongest and best player in the world right now. Just as we all predicted he'd be, all those years ago!

Finally the class is showing, first set over confidence returns Finally?! It's showed all the way through, just a couple of blips that IMO won't make a difference to the outcome ...
"We don't stick to the rules out here, I hate it". Andy might be referring to RBA's late challenge on his serve on the first point.

It's quite sad in a way (not that I wanted him to win), - RB must have known that he only had an outside chance, but he is obviously looking very disappointed. I think he is a year older than Mr M, and this is his first Masters 1000 final. It shows even more just how amazing our man is.

Well done Andy! Just finished watching recording .... which I had to start at 5-1 in the 2nd set just as Andy was about to serve for the match!
So the story goes like this .... Hubby was in the office when he saw a neighbour's dog running down the road unattended. Cue tearing off up the road after said dog before he gets run over. Easily captured but not so easily reunited with owner .... who we can't get hold of! She's not at home and not answering her mobile. Have left messages and the wait goes on .... Meanwhile Harvey the dog is lying in the sun in our kitchen.
Fab news to come home to!

I thought that as well. It seemed slightly surreal (in a good way), a group of Chinese supporters with their Union Jacks, Saltires, and Andy posters.
I was also quite envious of the padded, comfy seats.
I think that's Andy's 6th tour title this season, yes? I don't think he's won 6 titles in a season since about 2009, so has already been a stellar year for him.
With 41 ATP tour titles, he's now 15th on the list of most titles won in open era, level with Stefan Edberg. 5 more titles, and he passes Muster - and then 5 more titles after that and he passes Becker and Laver.
With 617 tour wins, he now passes Hewitt to be 20th on that list. Even a conservative estimate of wins for the rest of his career should put him in the top 10 with tour wins with Connors, McEnroe, etc.
His tour wins ratio to titles possibly a little low, but that's partly because of the standard of the era he is in. If he's cleaning up a few tournaments whilst Novak is off-track, then it's no less than he deserves. Don't mind at all if that continues for a while - but of course better if he beats Novak a fair few times in the process.

I wouldn't blame him at all. However he missed out last time round because of having to go to Cinicinatti. Just as after Wimbledon this year, he went out on the razzle. Basking in his achievements is sometimes sacrificed, which I think is sad. If he does go, he needs to go for himself - not for the fans.

True, but it would be nice for him to be with his fellow Olympians. Mind you I am not wholly convinced I am not imagining one today - there is no mention of it on the TV channels?
According to the Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-3845382/Andy-Murray-distances-world-No-1-talk-despite-closing-Novak-Djokovic.html), Andy will not be attending today's Olympic parade.

Should think time with his wife and daughter would be much more precious.
Absolutely!
I heard he'd won on the radio on Sunday.
I think Andy was probably glad that he didn't turn up, yesterday, for the London parade as it was boring. Only the schoolchildren and family and friends of the athletes were allowed to stand in the centre in Trafalgar Square. Everyone else had to stand around them. For the first twenty or so minutes, we had to listen to the Grenadier Guards and the Coldstream Guards playing music. Then, Ore Oduba claimed we had to watch the big screens and watch the Olympic and Para Olympic highlights. When they showed Andy, I was the only one who cheered. Then, the athletes walked onto the stage. Ore interviewed a few of them. Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson was also there and she also interviewed a few of them. Chris Holmes, Baron Holmes of Richmond, also got to do a bit of interviewing. Then, The Vamps came on and did three songs (my cue to leave).
