Andy plays Nando in his first match as Nando overcame Robin Haase with the latter retiring in the 2nd set.
Should be a corker if Nando plays well .... but Andy to win of course!

oh no... no Murray:coaster: s please! A batch of nice simple quick matches to save on strength. how likely is that!
Nando has had a bit of a resurgence recently but I still think Andy will win in straight sets.
Good Luck for Wednesday Andy.:thumbup:

Aw would love to get watching this, love Nando! Yes Andy to win though! I was away when Andy and Nando played their epic Wimbledon match so hoping for just as momentous a week while I'm away again! Just realised I put Nole to reach the final but I hope I'm wrong, was going to change to Stan, I know I'm too late but don't care so long as someone puts Nole out soon!
Verdasco has won only 1 match (beating Soeda in Tokyo) in his last 6 tournaments including being whipped 6-2 6-1 by 18 year old Mikael Ymer in Stockholm. His win/loss is 28-25 for the year.
Going on that record, Bardot, I think Verdasco might struggle against Andy (especially with the way Andy's been playing).
Andy v. Verdasco not before 6.30pm GMT tomorrow.

Certainly Nando provided a challenge in the 2nd and became tough, a few unfortunate errors from Andy but so nearly found way back! Hopefully Murray has strong start in the decider, come on!
So much for my evening's plans...
A repeat of the third set against Klizan would be welcome.
Nando playing like he used to. The only way he's going to beat Andy is by going for broke.

Crowd loving Verdasco.
He's the underdog and he's playing brilliantly - if I were a neutral I'd love him too. Now I'd be delighted if he choked on this service game!
Andy 1/8 on BPs in this set and Verdasco was in control of all 7 missed BPs.
I'm hoping that Verdasco gets really nervous now.
Why couldn't Nando have been playing Djokovic this afternoon?
Verdasco holds to love with huge serving & hitting. 5-5

Bet they shouted for Andy more than the rest of that crowd put together. Think next year we should have an AMFF away day to Paris to show the French how to do it
From 15-40 down on his serve at 5-5, Andy won the next 8 points and the match, brilliant.
Phew, what a relief!! Verdasco played very well .. good match, but even better to see Andy advance to the next round.. Lucas Pouille next, last afternoon match tomorrow..
If Andy thought the crowd were revolting tonight, wait until tomorrow. ;) He will relish the abuse. :big grin:
The Paris crowd is notoriously bad. I still haven't forgiven them for booing Jo off the court when he lost to Ferrer in the semis at the French Open. It took Jo a long time to recover from that.

:phew: That was great! Really enjoyed it. First set...Andy was cool, comfortable and composed. Short rallies and good stats. Great start. Second set....Verdasco turned up! Full of drama and excitement. Break followed break and Verdasco didn't win it easily...Andy made him work for it. Third set...there was no way Andy was going to lose it. You could see that from his demeanour and somehow you could sense that Andy was going to win that last game and the match!! He was so pumped...and me along with him!! Well done you great fighter Andy!! Verdasco did play very well...he certainly gave our man a good work out. :bravo:
Phew! Noticeable Andy did not salute the crowd and has thrown nothing away! I had to watch without sound - were the crowd that bad?
Errrrm. Yep.
I had the sound up quite high and there was a lot of the usual
coughing etc when Andy was serving, and with the flash from the cameras.
All pretty silent when Nando was serving.
Then when Andy let out his roar C'MON the crowed booed him.
Then cheered his next miss.
The french? You gotta love em!
:rolleyes::rolleyes:
The chair asked them for silence quite sternly, several times,
and I think Andy thanked him when he sat down.

Somehow from 15-40 Andy s whole demeanour changed..somehow he was going to do this and oh boy he did. 8 straight points.
As for the crowd I can understand their support for a French player tomorrow..but not what appears to be resentment of Andy

What a match although not the straightforward one we were hoping for. I'd forgotten what a brutal serve and forehand Nando has and he didn't half give it laldy tonight. Well done to Andy for getting there in the end, but at what cost? Hopefully he'll recover by tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile we all become Dimitrov supporters !!!
The Paris crowd are notoriously bad. I still haven't forgiven them for booing Jo off the court when he lost to Ferrer in the semis at the French Open.
Remember the infamous match against Simon in Monte Carlo when Andy said there was little point doing an on-court interview as the crowd will just keep booing. :big grin: Speaking of Simon, Andy could play him in the QF. Two Frenchies in a row, the crowd will be burning effigies of Andy by then. ;)

I can't say I have gone that far. It's more that he isn't in my really disliked group. If he beats Djokovic tomorrow he will get mega brownie points. I don't forget favours. Del Po being awkward and beating Mr M in DC is a case in point. He exhausted Feddykins in London 2012, and Djokovic at Wimbledon. Not too mention obligingly coming second in Rio. I can handle him getting DC.

without claiming a knowledge of French tennis watching culture, I think they are shouting 'allez' but making into as strange a noise as possible. Why ? I don't know. What I need here is a picture of a Gallic shrug of the shoulders.
