Unfortunately the one follows the other-MTB's in force at the WTF, however hopefully Jamie/Bruno can get it done in straights! Looked like opening set might turn but Murray/Soares stepped up to take it-keep it going!

Fantastic news for Jamie and Bruno.
Any of our smart bods worked out the scenarios?
I did hear, after the match, Jamie and Bruno are now five points behind Herbert and Mahut. But, I don't know if that's true or not.
And we thought Cilic's kit was bad. ;) The suave and sophisticated Lopez at practice this morning. :hide:

Great win - well done, guys!!!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
I really enjoyed that match! JB played so well....Jamie's serve and Bruno at the net, both outstanding. Soo pleased for them. It amazes me how the top players can have, by their standards, a 'bad' day, go away and work on it and come to their next match 100% improved. I'm particularly thinking of Jamie's serve. It was brilliant today compared to Sunday. Well done boys! :boogie:

A great win from these two! A lovely team :)
Time for Huey and Mirnyi to do Jamie a favour and win this 2nd set!
Stuart Fraser @stu_fraser (https://twitter.com/stu_fraser) 6h6 hours ago (https://twitter.com/stu_fraser/status/798514678079062016)
Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares beat Bob and Mike Bryan 6-3 6-4. They qualify later as long as Dodig/Melo don't beat Huey/Mirnyi in straights.
Not to be - still some work to do in the final RR match.
Loved the of photo of Jamie with his mum and him asking about why she wore a feather duster.
These sons of ours are such teasers just like mine
Herbert/Mahut are down a set and 0-2 in the second and apparently if they lose the match then Jamie & Bruno need one more win to finish the year as the #1 team and for Bruno to be doubles #1.

Amazing how poor nick and pierre have been, sometimes these things happen. Hope Jamie and Bruno get that win tomorrow evening.
John Peers was brilliant today - such a change from last year when he missed so many match points against the Bryans. It seems that the split has been good for both John and Jamie!
It got shown, jackie55, while Barker was talking to Judy before Andy's match.

Both Murrays as year end number ones - wouldn't that be just wonderful?
Well done Jamie & Bruno. Last year's break up with John has worked out well for both of them. Bruno's great returning has aided Jamie's net play and Henri's calmness has helped John to cope with high tension moments. Pleased for them all.

So happy for Jamie, Bruno and everyone involved :) I'm sure this will just add to the incentives Andy already has! People can compare and count all they want, the weeks the rest have spent at the top, but that won't compare with how special it will be to be there with your brother. Or, I must add, even where they are together already!
Yes a really good match...TB enthralling. Will be fun to watch JB playing Klaasen/Ram tomorrow eve. Will be cheering loudly for you JB! Good luck!
Was having a wee think about 2 brothers being #1 at the same time, one as a singles player and the other as a doubles player...has that actually ever happened before? (Bryan twins excluded as they are both doubles.) Certainly it must be the first 2 Brits? But mustn't get ahead of myself here...Andy would pull me up on that!

Yip first 2 Brits Pat :) I think it's only happened twice before, once was John and Patrick McEnroe, can't remember the other?
Oh, I didn't realise that it had happened before but, if it was the McEnroes, I suppose it makes sense.
According to the ITF stats (http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/players/player/profile.aspx?PlayerID=10000895), the highest rank in doubles Patrick McEnroe reached was #3.
I was sad for Lopez/Lopez I do like them both a lot so I was hoping they'd go through. But then neither of the evening session matches went my way. Spend them with my head in my hands a lot of the time.

Impressive serving/returning from Kontinen/Peers in beating Bryans 7-6 (7-2) ,6-4,almost pegged back in 2nd after double break but held firm. Would've marginally preferred Bob/Mike to win but didn't think it was that likely and they didn't quite have enough. Certainly John/Henri worthy finalists from their displays throughout the week.

I really like Kont. as he won the mixed with Heather at Wimbly. Very impressive!
Watching Andy's match can't have been the best preparation for Jamie but the fact he won should be inspiration.
I seriously hope Jamie wasn't watching Andy!
Have they announced the rescheduling? Ah, they are just about to come out.
The umpire has walked onto the court, according to the ATP website.
Klaasen and Ram win the coin toss and elect to serve.

this is going pretty badly for Jamie/Bruno, Klaasen/Ram take first 6-1! Hopefully this soon turns around!
Jamie and Bruno are seriously better than throwing away a set after 21 minutes.
First set gone!!! I'm sure Jamie will be exhausted after watching Andy's match - I know I am!!
At this rate, Djokovic/Nishikori might be on court on time which is a pity.
So now Jamie has to take a leaf out of his brother's book and come back from a set and a break down. C'mon Jamie and Bruno!!!!!
I can't believe Jamie and Bruno have just settled on being the world number one pairing.

Klaasen & Ram were impressive but Jamie/Bruno never really got going, bit better in the 2nd but still a disappointing display from the season ending no1 team. However obviously great year with the two slams being very high moments.
Difficult to receive the #1 trophy after that performance but still well deserved. I assume there will be a similar presentation tomorrow night to someone. ;)

Ironic that John Peers reaches the final this year but Jamie doesn't. Congratulations to Jamie and Bruno for their no 1 ranking - a massive achievement in their first year together.
Henri and John have won the final 2-6 6-1 10-8
Really pleased for them.
Quite a statement from John Peers after last years nightmare and pleased for Kontinen who was close to retiring after his prolonged time away from tennis due to injury. I doubt Jamie will be getting an invite to John Peers wedding, rumour is and it's not surprising that their split was far from amicable.

Ditto. The first set was pretty scary tho'. So glad they were able to come back and win.
Never believe tacky journalists on twitter. ;) John Peers in his press conference
Q. John, I guess you don't have any regrets about splitting with Jamie now?
JOHN PEERS: No, we ended up on very good terms, parted ways, gave each other a good opportunity to move on and build a good base for the following year. We've both had a good year in our separate partnerships.
I have been thankful with Henri, we've stuck together and worked really hard all year. And the benefits are starting to pay off at the back end of this year.
Q. John, was there a part of you that wished you could have been playing Jamie today? What do you think of his performance this week?
JOHN PEERS: Doesn't faze me one bit. He's had a great year. To finish year-end No. 1 as a team, Jamie and Bruno have had a great year, won two slams. For him to do that is an incredible effort.
