Andy v Kei ... and a must win for Muzzah!
Should be a better match than v Cilic. Unfortunately will miss it also. Hope Andy brings his A game.

Presumably this has been put on in the afternoon to suit the BBC's requirements. Unfortunately, most people are at work or school so won't see the match that will almost certainly decide the group winner.
It's on at 2pm tomorrow. I'm expecting another win from Andy.

Kei is growing in confidence and hasn't played as much as Andy recently. Don't believe he moved out of second gear against Stan because he didn't need to. Won by same margin as Andy but Andy had the tougher match and hopefully will be sharper and ready to gain revenge for the US defeat. I'll be there shouting for Andy to win in 2 again
Andy was clearly distracted during their match at the USO and he let it affect his concentration. I'm sure he won't let that happen tomorrow in front of his home crowd - he has a point to prove. Hopefully, he won't be as nervous as he was at the start of the match yesterday.

Not sure if he was distracted at the US Open or just suffering from post-Olympic fatigue. It definitely took his some time (and I don't think he was the only one) to truly recover from his exploits in Rio.
However, this court seems to suit Kei and he'll be a tough opponent. I'd take a win, however it comes. Think it might need 3 sets.
Although he created plenty against Cilic you would think Andy would have more chances on Nishikori's serve although an amazing stat is that whilst Kei is 38th in first serve points won, he's fourth (Andy is 19th) in second serve points won on tour. Who knew his second serve was so good?
I was at the Kei v Stan match and to be honest my friends wondered if Stan could actually be bothered. So I'm not reading too much into Kei's win. :cauldron:

I think it was probably a bit of both. He was quite clearly exhausted after a long summer season which was possibly why he was so distracted by the loud off-court noise and his subsequent altercation with the umpire.
All the pundit talk seems to be about their matches in the Davis Cup and US Open but they (including Andy in an interview) seem to have forgotten the whipping Andy gave Nishikori in Rio.

Maybe because Kei wasn't fit or there were no points at stake or perhaps they were just trying to jazz it up.
Kei was fit enough to beat Rafa for the bronze medal, wasn't he?
The Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup:

And the whipping Clayray gave Klei Nishikori in the Madrid semi last year. I love Kei kat, he's definitely in my top 5 to watch, but the fact is that the only times he has bothered Andy are DC in March when Andy was coming back from paternity break, (Andy took first 2 sets and should have won quicker but still came through in 5) and when Andy has been totally gassed (WTF 2014, USO 2016). As I say, nothing against the fantastic Kei, but Andy is the better, stronger player and so long as Andy takes it to Kei, he'll have no real problems whatsoever. Go Andy! :cheer:
Good luck Andy!
I'll miss the start, but hope to be back to catch some of the match!

Yes and also remember it's best of three today, just like Rio, Andy would have beaten Kei two straight in DC and in three at the US open. He would also have beaten DelPo in three in Glasgow.

Enjoy Jerry! You lucky thing .... I'm stuck at work and will miss it but set to record and I will avoid the result till I've watched it
Thanks Caro :) after failing to get my Davis cup book signed on Monday, I got Andy to sign it today after his practice. You know me I'll be shouting away! :)
Turned on the TV to find Sue Barker talking to Judy (Murray) and Henman.
Players have just walked out.
Andy wins the toss and elects to serve.

I love hearing him announced as World Number 1.
Hope it continues for a VERY long time!!!
Fasten your seat belts, folks - here we go!
Good start by Andy, 1 - 0.
The BBC still having to keep showing Delgado and Lendl.
Andy saves a break point and makes it 2 - 1.
Only 2 first serves in the game so a tough hold. 2-1
Henners taking Crofty's roll of chunter of doom. Tosh about the danger of Andy being near his box.
I think they must have some rule, Bardot, that during a tennis match they must start talking a lot of rubbish at some point.

I'm still with Sky. Come on Andy!!
From 40:15 to break point. I am so stressed by this match.
Andy certainly making a lot more noise than Kei.
Break point saved by Andy and makes it 3 - 2.
Another tough hold & BP saved. 3-2
Andy doing the bunny hopping when he loses a point like in Paris. 3-3
Some like it hot but not Andy. It's all that heavy breathing from his fans. ;)
Nishikori winning the rallies. 4-4

4-4 come on andy!! Ace!
Still no BPs for Andy. 5-5
5:5 - he hadn't found his rhythm yet, or am I talking nonsense?
No, Teresa, you're not talking nonsense unlike Castle. He's already talked about Brexit and Donald Trump.
Did someone mention Milos missing opportunities yesterday? What about Andy then? And UEs........he's fluffed some virtually unmissable shots
:phew: again!
Andy saves another break point and makes it 6 - 5.
Tough hold & another BP saved. 6-5

16-11-2016, 15:13
Phew. Lucky Andy 6-5. Now come on dear boy and play like the number 1 you are. No more errors!!!
Andy hasn't had any opportunities to miss yet. It's Kei who's kicking himself.
I can tell you all it was BOILING in the arena Monday afternoon and the evening doubles match. I was actually surprised no one fainted. It was dripping off me and I wasn't running around! Then they seemed to put the air con on.
At least Andy forced a BP/SP. 6-6

^me too!
Just saw Roy!
Who's Roy? I saw a chap in a BTB shirt!
Hoping Andy wins the tie break.
Nishikori is so solid in the rallies. 3-3
Andy having to run all over the place :phew:
Who's Roy? I saw a chap in a BTB shirt!

Serves being punished. 3-6
Oh my! That's our Andy!! Unbelievable Andy!!
Still remember the tie break against Berdych.

This is why I want nishi to face Nole in the semis. Andy has woken up but a bit late haha. That is awesome!!!
Kei's got Andy running all over the place. Andy could do with maybe using a bit more power and aggression.
Take that back........finesse!!!
Just get the return in Andy! 7-8
I'm feeling really queezy now.
Just one now please Andy.
Incredible. What a battle. I'm exhausted.
Nishikori is looking tired.
Too good from Nishikori. 9-10
At the risk of stating the obvious, this set is becoming bigger the longer it goes on.
Nishikori wins the first set.
Not tired - good! And there the first set goes! Not a good opener by Andy.
The TB was gutting enough but the BH into the net on Andy's first set point hurts most.

16-11-2016, 15:43
Tough loss that, had chances but Kei had more. Couldn't punish Kei's second seve or get enough of his in, so always a struggle
Awful play from Andy at the beginning and end of that tie-break.
 Does this smack of Djokovic v Raonic?
At least this won't affect Andy's mentality whereas I think it could have affected Kei. Although the latter will now have confidence especially after the US victory.
Don't like that Kei is serving first.

16-11-2016, 15:44
Argh - so nervy from Andy in that set. But he does find his best when his back is against the wall so let's go with the fight back. C'mon Andy - back yourself!!
I think Andy may be the only Brit who wouldn't mind the World Tour Finals moving from London. He hates the O2. ;)
"King of the Lobs". 15-40
Is it that this court suits Nishikori more, or is that Murray's recent activities are catching up with him?

Andy has a moun tain to climb here - I believe he has the will to do it.
But Oh Boy, Novak is n ot going down quietly. All the talk of a lapse in will was rubbish yesterday. Raonic played better than I have ever seen him but just couldn't overcome Djoko.
It all came down to the big points and who played them better.....and yesterday it was Novak, today it seems it is Kyle
Andy breaks Nishikori's serve.

Novak will undoubtedly now win his section which means - if Andy loses one of the last two- he will probably play Novak in the semis. All three would be nicer - come on Andy
I heard, last night, Novak is world number one in the live rankings. Is this true?
Yeah - he manages to hold 2:0
I heard, last night, Novak is world number one in the live rankings. Is this true?
Not according to the ones I am using.
Which pundit knows best?
Darren Cahill @darren_cahill
Signature statement by Andy Murray these days. Loses a brutal physical 1st set, puts it aside, and breaks 1st game of the 2nd.
or
Greg Rusedski @GregRusedski1
What an amazing set of tennis 1:26 of great drama. Probably best set of tennis I have seen in a longtime. Will Murray bounce back?
He was a sports presenter on BBC radio five live. I didn't think so, as they don't know what they're talking about.
ACE, great love hold. 3-1
Much better from Andy. He should have done this in the first set.
Love hold from Nishikori. 3-2
Keep your posture up. Don't look defeated Andy!!!!
Whizzing through the games. 4-3
Kei's pushing Andy all over the place again. One of the few players who can outplay Andy from the baseline so........does Andy need to shorten some of the points?
Have resorted to flash scores, finding it still very stressful, Kei is still playing very well. If Andy manages to take this 2nd and it's still an if, I don't think I'll be able to watch even flash scores! Think I've lost my bottle!
Nishikori breaks back to 4 - 4.
Well, you can break too early. 4-4
I was afraid that would happen
This is not his day is it?:-(
And he breaks straight back. Good man. Can he serve it out. I think I will have to hide again......
Andy only 2/9 on second serve points won in this set, so we don't want any here.
Unless they're like that. ;) 15-0
Aargh, dropper worked this time. Deuce
Two set points come and go.
Is Andy doing this on purpose??
Break point saved by Andy.
THIS time now Andy. Pleeeeeeeeeeze!!!
Andy, finally, wins the second set 6 - 4.
Thank goodness for that :phew: :yahoo:
Looked further out than that, phew.

about time ...

Good man. He has levelled it.
In a way it might be better if Andy plays Djokovic in the SF as it would mean one less win for Djokovic.

Well done Andy  The biggest challenge for world number one's isn't to be miles ahead of the rest physically or in terms of skill - most of all it's about winning the mental challenge and being the strongest between the ears on big points. Andy can most definitely settle into his new role. Well done Andy, keep going, I know you can do this (even though you're not playing well, that's how good you are!). Go Andy!!!

16-11-2016, 16:40
Well that was painful! So much for all the talk of Andy returning Kei's serve well - seems more the other way round - especially 2md serve.
Anyway for God's sake Andy - get the 3rd set. Not going with any weird theories about playing Djoko in semis!

Who wants it more ???? ANDY DOES. ! And what Andy (and his fans ) want, Andy is capable of getting.
Come on Andy - remind that little Japanese who is Number One and how you got there.
Nishikori wins the first game.
Unless Andy gets his 2nd serve return deep he's left vulnerable for the next hit. 0-1
This percentage is about to drop.
(((Jeff Sackmann))) @tennisabstract
Nishikori is the best deciding set player in the game right now. He's won 77% of career deciders--better than anyone else in ATP history.
I heard, last night, Novak is world number one in the live rankings. Is this true?
Only if you take the points from last year's Davis Cup final off and because Djokovic has played one more match here. If Andy wins this match, Andy will be ahead.
Will just be happy if Andy can win this match. All else may be irrelevant otherwise.
Just keep holding Andy and you'll get a chance to break.
Five double faults from Nishikori.
Double faults - could Kei possibly be showing signs of tension or fatigue .......................... just hoping!
What a point to save BP. Deuce
Finally a net cord for Andy. BP
This time, Andy, this time!
Another break point for Andy.
Yay - there's the break, folks - c'mon Andy!!!!
Off to walk the dog. Will leave it on live pause and hope my phone flashes up the right result. My nerves are shredded.
Castle going on about Paignton. I used to live there and it's rather dead.
I haven't got the energy to walk my dogs.

R U sure he didn't say how painful this is and you miss heard him?
"Come on" says Andy as he saves a break point.
If only he could get the 1st serve going.
I thought I heard Castle say "a girl called Sue from Paignton".
Finding first serves on BPs but not game points. Deuce
That was a brilliant shot from Kei.
Who will Andy want to play in the semis?
Phew and phew again! Now break again, Andy, and let's put this to bed.
Who will Andy want to play in the semis?
My bet is it'll be Raonic but I think Andy would prefer Thiem. That's if he wins here, of course, otherwise it'll be Djokovic.
Andy will be shattered when he gets to the final.
Andy will be shattered when he gets to the final.
I think he's already shattered - he's running on adrenaline.
Nishikori looked very tired at the change of ends.
3 - 1.
Mystic Meg's job is safe. ;)
Yay - an insurance break - well done, Andy!!!!! Kei looks spent.
Match virtually over as Andy makes it 4 - 1.
Made it to 4-1, please an easy hold now Andy.
That's more like it.
Wonder if the 1st serve and ace's will make an appearance now the pressure is off?
I think my finger slipped.
I think my finger slipped.
???
