Andy v Stan.
Andy leads their H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/players/fedex-head-2-head/stan-wawrinka-vs-andy-murray/W367/MC10) by a narrow margin of 9-7.
Stan clocked up one of his wins in the RR stage at this event last year but Andy won their most recent encounter, at Roland Garros on clay in this year's Semi-Final.
They've been playing against one another since 2005 and are known to be friends on the tour.
This match could decide the leaderboard in their RR group so it's definitely one to watch.

My most memorable match was Andy's 5 set win at Wimbledon in r16 on magic monday under the roof which was by far the latest finish at the time in 2009. Unfortunately I am missing this one but reckon Stan is suffering and he won't move round the court anything like Kei did and will struggle when Andy places them wherever Stan isn't. Andy please a straighforward win in 2 this time and save yourself for tougher matches to come!
Sky have just announced the afternoon match.
Well, that will give the winner more time to recover I suppose. Djokovic really has had the luck of the draw this time - much the easier group and an extra day to recover.

Who was that against Roy? I was at a late finish roof match against a Cypriot man - can't recall his name - that was the latest the had finished at that point - we had to leave to catch trains before the conclusion which was frustrating. It was a lot tighter than it should have been and I spent a lot of the match hiding! After leaving the match I remember running through Kings Cross wearing my "Come on Andy" tshirt and this young man shouted over to me - " has he won?" It was a great feeling of solidarity!
I think it was Marcos Baghdatis.

Against Stan of course, that along with the Paris semi this year which was much more one sided are the most memorable of the 16 previous matches against Stan
Nice story on it still available

Re: the match against Stan above, so did we have to leave to catch trains ..... except we didn't! We walked out of centre court and whilst still in the grounds we could hear the roar of the crowd .... we just looked at each other, turned on our heals and ran back in, this sacrificing our last train home. We managed to get one to Milton Keynes (nowhere near where we live!) and my friend talked her daughter in to coming to pick us up! I got home at 4.30am ... luckily no work the next day for me but my friend had to be at work for 7.30! We both said we would the same thing again and again, we still talk about it and it is one of my best tennis days ever!

I was at that match too. In debenture seats on a hospitality package. Absolutely cheered myself hoarse much to the amusement and sometimes annoyance of those around me. Remember coming out in the pitch dark and queuing for a taxi to take me back to my rather splendid b&b. The people I shared with were lovely and wouldn't let me pay for my fare. Seemingly everyone we knew had seen me on the tv, full screen except Alan who was getting a pint. Everyone in the pub was telling him. My son, who had been to Glastonbury watched in his hotel and kept receiving texts from his friends saying they'd seen me. One of the most exciting tennis experiences for me ever.
What lovely memories you all have! Enjoyed reading them. I remember those matches too, but only from my centre court seat in my living room! I book it every year and always get the same seat!!
Stan played pretty well last night I thought. Andy has said he's not happy with his ball striking this week - I hope he's happier with it when he plays Stan tomorrow.
If Andy beats Stan, or Nishikori wins in three sets, Andy tops the group.
If Andy wins a set from Stan, or Nishikori loses, Andy finishes second but qualifies.
I think!

Yes, I'm pretty sure that all Andy has to do is win a set against Stan and he is through. Easy peasy! I, for one, love the unique drama of this tournament, magnified x 100 this year. Andy worked so hard for the no 1 ranking - no way he is giving it up without a fight to the death. And in such circumstances I'll back Andy 110% every time and twice on Fridays (and Sats and Suns :big grin:). GO Andy!!! :GBflag:

So do I but I think it has been pretty evident. Andy has won his matches through (i) playing better than Cilic with both not playing that great and (ii) guts, stamina and will to win against Kei as much as anything. Hope he can keep Stan at bay.

Sadly I cannot watch this one but perhaps for the sake of my blood pressure (and my nails cos I have a big dinner at hubbys golf club tonight ) that's for the best. Bit nervy about this one but I agree Andy is determined to keep that No1 :) I think his strokes seem very heavy or laboured so far this week?
Today is a new day though and I am excited waiting for this! Bring on Stan the Man.......hah not in my books, Andy is The Man!
It's hard to believe that Andy's best performance at the tour finals was on his first appearance 8 years ago in Shanghai when he went 3-0 in the group (the only time he has) beating Federer, Stepanek and Simon before losing to Davydenko in the SF. The following year the finals moved to London. ;)

Jamie Murray has now joined Barker.

Bouncy & Henners on about the "constant chat with his box, I don't think he can do that today and win". If they'd watched Andy during the Asian swing and in Vienna & Paris they'd know he's being doing it and winning.

Well done Andy. I was wary I admit. I think because of terrible memories seeing him just not get enough to get through when playing Verdasco, then watching Andy 'get through' only for a call to be overturned in the Fed / Delpo match, which of course Fed went on to lose and they both went through.
It was still the tougher group. Andy just did really well!!!!

Remember that well and was convinced Fed engineered it. How often when he is 40-0 up on his serve would you have expected him to lose it so that Delpo won? Andy has weathered many storms, he so deserves the success he has fought for

Lucky you! I've been to the Finals many times and mostly ended up seeing Federer and never Murray!
Last year was in a box for the final with a group of strangers who weren't interested in tennis - just the status of being there.
Decided to watch it from home this year!
It's been in circulation a while and the general consensus is that it's photoshopped.
Thanks - that's what I thought.
Brilliantly executed by Andy. I was more relaxed about this match than the previous two - can't think why, but with Stan playing lights out at the start I thought that it would be a toughie for Andy. This was Andy at his imperious best. Great match with some great skills from both players. The last of my real time matches this week will have to watch semi and final recordings, football match Sat am Swimming Gala pm and evening Sun Swimming Gala am and pm. The things I give up for my grandchildren but they are worth it.
Quotes from Andy's press conference taken from twitter
I think I weathered the early storm. Stan came out hitting the ball huge. A lot of winners, a lot of aces. Once I got through the early part of the match, I started to get chances on his service games. I served very well. I got a lot of free points. That allowed me to dictate.
Andy on Jamie: They've obviously had an amazing year. They've won 2 Slams, which is fantastic. Jamie and Bruno seem to compliment each others games. They deserve it. They've played really well this week. I'm really proud of Jamie. The whole year has been fantastic for both of us. We'd like to finish it perfectly if we can. Regardless of what happens at the weekend, we can look back and be very proud of what we've achieved as a family.
Andy on Scottish tennis: I'd be disappointed if nothing changed. I'm interested in it. There's not loads I can do about it just now.My mum is heavily involved in tennis. She's very aware of everything going on with it. When I finish, I hope it's better than when I started.
It's a big match. Milos serves big and goes for his shots. He likes the conditions here, they're a bit quicker. You don't normally get opportunities against big servers. This year when I've played him, I've made opportunities and been clinical. I need to do the same tomorrow.
(Jamie and I) used to play each other all the time until we were about 12-14. When we used to go to practice we went together. We played golf, squash, table tennis together. When really young, Jamie won most things. He was older, bigger, stronger. As we got older, we were pretty close at most things. Golf he was better, football it was me. Racquet sports it was pretty close. Now, we're each other's biggest fans.
Andy on the finals staying in London: I haven't given that any thought really. They get great crowds here. On a personal level, I like it here. But I'm more bothered about what's best for tennis.
Andy on not playing Novak in the SFs: 'I don't think it's significant really. There's a good chance if I want to win, I'd have to beat him.
I've got a big, tough match against Milos. I'm not taking anything for granted. It will be hard. I feel my game is in a good place. I played much better than two days ago. Thankfully, today's match was quick. If the match with Kei was today, it would have had an impact on the next. I don't think (not having a day's rest) should have too much of an impact.
Some Stan quotes.
He made me hesitate a few things with my game. That's why he's No. 1. I think I started well but a few little things can make a big difference against a guy like him.
I wish I could do better in Masters 1000. That's my goal next year. It was my goal this year too (he laughs).
The motivation was very high. At least I played better against Cilic. I played against someone who was way better today.
Andy is playing more than well enough to win it here. I think Andy and Novak are playing at the same level. It'll be an amazing final if it's between them.

A brilliant match to watch! Andy was just so strong from the beginning and took no prisoners!
I know the afternoon matches aren't usually as exciting as night matches but I'm loving the crowd response to Andy and also that I can watch live on BBC :)
Looking forward to tomorrow so much now!

Stupendous by Andy - and forget all talk of "tough" group, this was the perfect match for Andy...did you watch Novak? Andy just mashed the guy who mashes you. Andy ten feet tall at the moment, and I wouldn't like to be the player trying to stop him finishing year as number 1. GO Andy, dig deep, 2 more wins and I know you can live your dream. We are with you every step!
Oh Rosie :) your posts are getting me more and more emotional! I feel like jumping up and waving a flag, just an Andy flag, with his face on it!!!

Just finished watching the recording so I'm late to the party, but woohoo what a great performance from Andy. So so good. He seemed far more in control today, in every way. :bravo:
Kei looking tired now I think.
Away in Coventry for weekend so no time to read all postsorts. Got to hotel in time for match. Amazing!
