So much on the line tonight, and it's Andy with most to prove. It doesn't really matter that Andy wasn't expecting to get the ranking until next year, or that he will probably get it back again - the fact is Andy got the ranking and the last thing he wants is for that to look like a blip, and for Novak to restore the 'normal order'.
It's going to hurt for sure, but grit your teeth Andy for one last push - he's going to have to dig as deep physically and mentally as he ever has, but nobody ever said being world number 1 was going to be easy, to be the best you've got to beat the best - but you CAN do it Andy!! 1 last epic fight to achieve a career-long ambition. GO Andy!! #alwaysbelieve :superman:

If Novak wins today, Andy knowing that he has an Olympic medal and got to the semis of the DC will only add to the pain. So fingers crossed he can pull an extra something out of the bag. We all know that he will perform to the absolute best of his abilities, physical and mental, today and whatever happens, in our eyes he will be the top player who has given everything he has this year. Thank you Andy for a fabulous ride in 2016.
Whoever wins the first set tends to win the match. I'm hoping it'll be Andy and Novak doesn't do what he did in 2013, the last time they played there at the World Tour Finals, and come back from a set down to win.

If Andy wins tonight I'd consider as one of his greatest tournament victories. Up there with the slams, DC and olympics. The adversity he's overcome and the sheer physicality of his matches at the end of a long year and busy period striving for world no1 is mind blowing. Couple that with the disgusting procession through to the final from Nole, a victory here would be so sweet

I so want Andy to win this! Ending the year at number 1 will be an amazing feat. It comes down to two questions I think. `1. How far along his "rehab" from whatever demons have been haunting him is Novak? and 2. How knackered is Andy from his extraordinary efforts this week?
We will find out this evening!

I'm so nervous. Not sure much the tournament win in itself but the no 1 position. The crowd will be loud for him - even the fickle 02 crowd. It went up a notch in noise yesterday to a real roar at times. Novak will have to contend with that. But I am fearful....
:grouphug:
Where have the wrist, elbow etc injuries go? They have miraculously disappeared. Let's hope that the stands are not full of swarthy Serbs as was were the stands at RG.
I'm really rooting for Andy. If he can play an aggressive A game, he's got a good shot. He's not been on that game consistently all week though, so I'm nervous. Also Nole has had a MUCH easier group and matches. (Can't believe how badly Kei played compared to the way he played when he was playing Andy). I really hope the crowd will get behind him and lift him.I'm nervous but hopeful.
All the very very best of luck to Andy
I was so sure that we would be here today that the only t-shirt I have left is the GB vs Serbia Davis cup one. I knew I would need it. Would have looked at bit daft if it would have been other players in the final. It's easy to worry with how hard fought murry's battle with milos was and how easy djoko's win seemed. I do think that tiredness aside it is good to come through a test like that, it builds confidence and makes it easier mentally to fight back from behind next time. You are prepared for what comes next. Djoko's match didn't give him any day tactics st that. He said kei wasn't himself, same as Goffin, he wouldnt have survived a real test. It was odd as when he was well ahead in a he first set, he seemed to get distracted. Then annoyed, for no reason. Then dropped serve. He won't get away with that in this match. I'll be there shouting all the way through again, but I'm sure Murray will win it :)
Whoever wins the first set tends to win the match. I'm hoping it'll be Andy and Novak doesn't do what he did in 2013, the last time they played there at the World Tour Finals, and come back from a set down to win.

Whoop whoop!
Here we go - another first for Andy!
His team will remind him what he needs to beat Novak and then repair and replenish him so he can turn up and play his best.
The crowd will have an important role here in infusing Andy with energy. He needs to tap into his deep energy levels - reminding them he can reacquaint with them again in his rest period!
Most of all he needs to be aggressive, focused and ruthless and play Novak at the mind games he so likes to play!
He deserves to be number 1! Let's go Andy - we all believe!
The Very, Very, Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
I've been trying to gather my thoughts. I have many conflicting ones at the moment. We have our 'dream final'. We all hoped for that and I had no doubt in my mind that as Nole is there for the taking, Andy would do precisely that. But,(sorry! there is a but...) that was until Andy had his marathon with Milos yesterday. It's so unfortunate it has worked out like this. I have every faith in Andy who will do his very best tonight...and if he comes through I will be beyond ecstatic for him and us. But it is such a lot to expect from him...even his endurance has to stop somewhere? I also said earlier that I will not be too upset if it doesn't happen tonight, nor will I be...disappointed and regretful yes, but devastated, no. Anna, I do agree with most of your earlier post and I get where you are coming from, but I don't think it will look like a blip in the least if Andy loses tonight.(Especially under the present circumstances). All we have to do is remind ourselves of how outstanding he has been to get to precisely this point. I mean, it's simply beyond words. And it's comforting to hold onto the fact that he will regain #1 next year if indeed he ever loses it! Sorry, these are just my jumbled, conflicting thoughts! Anyway, enough talk about if he loses...time for the positives! We are going into this with the view Andy is going to perform one more miracle...just one more match Andy! Let's go!! I know those of you at the o2 will cheer him home too!

Remember who you are and what you've achieved this year
Remember the 2012 US Open final - how you pulled it out of the bag then
Remember the last points of the 2013 Wimbledon final
Remember that Novak has still not proved that he is fully back - he hasn't been challenged
Three Sets of tennis then a nice long rest with the family
Every strain, every sinew You know you can do it
We're all with you...all the way :trophy: YOU CAN DO THIS

Need all the optimists on here to do their thing and encourage us all. (Sadly I'm not in that category - by nature, not choice!)
I watched recording of the Djoko / Kei match on Fast Forward - but personally I thought Djoko was playing clinically and looked very confident. I don't think Kei could have done much whatever. Djoko looked very good and has had a stroll through his easier draw and schedule.
Raonic played much better than Kei did, but Andy really didn't play well for a set and a half yesterday (loads of errors and lack of energy) and then stepped it up and somehow fought through. In his own words he is physically and mentally very tired and saying he will give his all. But he knows he will not have a whole lot in reserve.
So rational thought must make Djoko firm favourite. I think it is a shame that they did not meet while Andy was playing really well in the middle of his streak and so could have beaten him then. If Djoko takes back No 1 today, then can be seen as a blip that Andy had it (not by anyone on here). I know he can get it back next year but year end No 1 has extra significance.
So I do have doubts about this match but am hoping beyond hope Andy can do it and will be supporting him like mad.
GO ANDY!! DO YOUR BEST!

I certainly always try and be positive but realistically I think it will be tough for Andy today, that's not to say he can't win but it's a question of whether Murray has enough in reserve to produce a high level performance which shall likely be required to see off Djokovic. Nole has certainly had the easier route and whilst not always decisive Andy has played a lot of tennis the past few months. Sure he knows what he has to do but he still has to execute. Nonetheless whilst Nole has shown better form still some vulnerability I think and just got to hope Andy can take his chances. It is the last match of the season and hopefully determination and the adrenaline will be enough to ensure he maintains the top ranking,if Andy gives it his best shot will certainly have no complaints. However think more imperative this time that he has a good start to put the pressure on Djokovic, will be difficult trying to come from behind.
A different match up today. Every match produces different challenges...look how he dealt with Stan's challenge! Andy will wear his 'there is no way I'm going to lose this match' suit today! I believe.
....... If Djoko takes back No 1 today, then can be seen as a blip that Andy had it (not by anyone on here)......
That is the crux I suppose. I certainly wouldn't see it a blip. Crucial we ignore the press etc in the (unlikely I hope) event of that happening.

I've got a great feeling.
I know he's tired and that the head to head is heavily in favour of Djok but I just think that Andy comes into the match buoyed by more confidence and determination than he has ever felt at any other point of his career. If anything, being tired may help him shorten points and play aggressively against Djok. The way he should always play Djok.
Whatever happens today, Andy will always be my No.1:thumbup:

Wow - One set in the bag, our boy playing a blinder, feeling amazingly calm although am screaming my head off at relevant points! The neighbours will think I'm being murdered but haven't yet come to my assistance! Right now I would die happy! x
BBC's iPlayer is also showing it live.

Another break for Muzzah, some amazing play-keep it going!
Wahey - a set and a break. Andy looks like a man on a mission.
If Andy wins this 2-0 ....
I will sit in the corner and blub like a little child.
And I don't care who knows.
Then I'll get rat faced.
LOL

2-0 in the 2nd set after Andy holds his serve.
:shades:
Solid hold, now some insurance would be nice
Cmon
The GB crowed have turned up.
Top notch Muzah has turned up.
With his serve included.
And the Joker looks befuddled.

Must caution against getting carried away. There's a steely core inside Djokovic. Andy cannot take his foot off the gas at all.
Cmon Muzz!
2 - 1.
Got Andy on the TV and Strictly on the laptop.
Big serving from Djokovic. 2-1

Djoko holds, still looking a little ragged. 2-1.
No dice in that service game - just safe hold, Andy, and try again. My nerves could do with an insurance break!
I might just join you!
OK ur on.

OMG! All presents gratefully received!
3-1
Love the fact that Andy serves first now after the changeover. he can give it all to hold and if necessary tank Nole's service game.
Though a double break would be great!
David.
Still couple chances2 BP's
