Well done Gordon Reid! :trophy::boogie:

Really deserves a SPOTY nomination - but just so many candidates in an Olympic year.

Fantastic - so pleased for Gordon! :cheer::cheer::cheer::GBflag::dance::dance::dance: :bravo::cheer::cheer::cheer: In another year Gordon may well have been nominated for SPOTY. He certainly merits nomination but then so many do this year and so many worthy contenders have been omitted. Maybe the BBC will have to rethink the short list procedure.

I do wish they had a separate SPOTY, or at least a Para Sports person of the year. You don't expect the Para sports people to compete in the same events as the able bodied ones, so why should they have to compete for SPOTY in the same way. They know they are included for political correctness. It's not a level playing field - and I say that as a disabled person.

Brilliant result, so pleased for Gordon. Who would ever have thought that we would have the no.1 male singles, doubles and wheelchair champions. And all in the same year too. Truly a golden year for British tennis :GBflag:

What a shame he couldn't join all the other brits in the finals.

Not bad though, having brits in the semis for the all the main comps in Sydney - wheelchair tennis, men's, women's and doubles.

Gordon has has a fantastic comeback win from 1-5 down in the decider against world #1 Fernandez in the second round of his group at the Wheelchair Masters event for the world top8 at Loughborough (edit he lost his opening match but won his second), should qualify him as runner up in his group.

Alis

Well, if Gordon had to be beaten in the final, I'm sure he would rather it was by Alfie than anyone else. Bad luck, Gordon!

Pity Gordon couldn't put up more of a challenge but seems reason for that, still good run. Know a bit late commenting now!
