For those who don't know the rules off by heart:
Year End Top 8 Predictions for 2017

OK folks, time to put your thinking caps on!

Can you predict the unpredictable??
Will Rafa and Fed return to the Top 8?
Will another newcomer make it into the big time?
Where will Andy finish the year?

All you have to do (ho! ho! ho!) is predict the Top 8 players in the order you think they will finish in the ATP rankings as published on the Monday after the World Finals and Davis Cup Final are over, i.e. the year-end rankings

On top of this as a tie breaker you need to predict the ranking points of the world number 1, the world number 25 and our own Andy Murray. (NB If you have Andy as your number 1, you only have one guess at his points total, which will count twice). You don't have to predict who the number 25 is!

The scoring is as follows:-
1 point for each person you correctly guess who ends in the top 8
A 2nd point for that player if you have them positioned 1 place away from where they end up (eg you predict Andy as number 2 and he ends up as either number 1 or number 3 then you score 2 points for Andy) - you will also still score 1 point if the player you predicted in 8th spot ended up 9th despite missing out on the 1 point for that player not being in the top 8
You get the maximum 3 points for each player you predict in the right spot.
The maximum points are 24 for getting all 8 in the top 8 and getting them all in the correct order. Simples ...

If we end with a tie under this main scoring system then it will be the closest person to the correct total tie-break score. In the unlikely event that the tie-break is also tied then it will be the person predicting closest to Andy's ranking points, then the number 1's ranking points and if this has still not broken the tie break it will be a tied competition.

As an example, the perfect prediction for 2016 would have been:-

1. Murray (12410)
2. Djokovic
3. Raonic
4. Wawrinka
5. Nishikori
6. Cilic
7. Monfils
8. Thiem
25. 1585

Go on, have a go!

The deadline for entry is start of the first men's singles match of the Australian Open. Play begins on Monday 16th January in Melbourne so for clarity that's likely to be 00.01 in the UK. Edits are allowed up until the closing time. As an incentive for people to guess all three of the tie-break points, if you leave any out you will get the unlikely default values below:

1. 20,000
Andy 20,000
25. 3,000

Good Luck everyone with your predictions for 2017!!

Only Pabbers had Federer in her Top 8 and now it looks as though he will do very well this year!

I imagine that none of us has scored highly in this, considering the unexpected lineup at WTF!

Thank you, Jaysee! I certainly didn't expect to win with my poor predictions - I think it must have been not picking Nishikori that swung it! Well done to everyone else on a close contest in a very difficult year!

Well, you and Pabbers were the only ones to get 4/8 players right - and that should really be 4/4 since all of us included Andy, Nole, Stan and Raonic, leaving only 4 other places to fill!!
