Katie into 3rd round Qualifying 6-1 6-4 defeating Hibino ranked 124 so a good win for Katie!

Katie has come through qualifying at Indian Wells, and is the only Brit to play on day 1, playing Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa. The winner will face Coco Gauff in Rd. 2.

Sadly, Katie lost 7-6(6) 7-5. She had been up a break in the first set.

There were lots of breaks in set 2, could have gone either way but Katie seemed to have a slight ankle issue in the later stages - they said she had had a fall but I did not see that part.
