Here are the standings in the Top 8 after the two North American Masters events in Canada and Cincinatti. The only change in the top 8 ranking positions from post Wimbledon was Ferrer overtaking Soderling which generally meant most peoples scores fell or did not change. However a change in the points tie breaker does change our leader from after Wimbledon from Linda to ASE after being tied on the same main score at both points in time. Well done ASE.
Lower down it is getting really tight now with 4-9 all on the same main score of 11 and 10- 18 all with a score of 10.
There is now just one more intermediate scoring point after the US Open before we will crown the winner of this competition after the WTF at the O2 later this year.
Sorry for the wobbly columns but the formatting is even worse than the old forum to get them as straight as I have the table when you look at it for editing is all over the place and having edited it 3 times to straighten them up this is the best you get from me.

This is where changing your top 8 too much does not necessarily give you benefits as ASE slips down to 9th place from leading pre US Open despite the top 8 in the rankings not changing at all! Well done to Linda for a clear victory this time not needing the tie breaker to determine our leader this time.

So other than FTM I think the only competition running this week is the real year end Top 8 prediction. There is still the potential for quite a bit of swapping around in the order of the top 8. 1st and 2nd may be decided but 3 and 4 can change though hopefully it won't. Ferrer at 5 is looking fairly secure but not certain of 5th with a bit over a 900 point gap to Tsonga. However 6 to 8 are seperated by less than 600 points so final positions there could certainly change and while unlikely, if there is an early withdrawl, it is not impossible for Tipsarevic to make it into the top 8. Mind you I don't think anyone predicted Tipsy or Fish so maybe that would make no difference to our competition.
I can't remember what my predictions were :rolling:
I suppose we'll have to do our 2012 predictions soon!

I was doing very badly anyway :rolling:
I was doing very badly anyway :rolling:
However as you only did the one prediction for the year then looking at the mid year points when others predicted for those was not totally fair and actually on the pre WTF rankings and points you are in the top 10 so don't knock your self too much!

Aw thanks Yorkie :) .... I'll have to make more of an effort this year :rolling:

Well done Linda!
So Djoko, Nadal, Ferrer and Fish are now secure in 1,2,5 and 8 in the year end top 8.
Tomorrow the final positions should be decided with the winner of Tsonga v Berdych securing 6th place and the loser being 7th and hopefully Ferrer can beat a certain Swiss player so Andy secures 3rd place rather than 4th if Federer wins tomorrow

Oh I hope you're right Yorkie!
Well looking at it I can't believe there is any chance of a change in rankings as a result of the Davis Cup (Del potro needs 280 points to go ahead of Tipsy and make 9th place and while I have not looked up the points I assume that score is not possible from 2 matches in the final even if he wins both his rubbers). So its time to declare the Top 8 overall winner.
Well there have been some big changes from the recent mid season standings. Linda who has been consistently around the top 5 since Rome and was our post US Open leader has fallen to 6th with Soderling, Monfils, Monaco and Del Potro all ultimately letting her down. I had also been pretty consistently in the top 5 but fell even further to 20th thanks to poor showings from Soderling, Monfils and Del Potro and getting the order of the top 4 badly wrong.
At least I got 1 point more than Cazza our winner of the wooden spoon and Katie on the same points but just ahead on the tie break who both managed to get just the top 4 right and 4 non top 8ers.
Some of the people who only predicted the end of year positions have climbed in recent time as we got closer to the end of the year with Golden Lady being the top of those who only predicted the year end positions in 5th place.
A notable riser from the post US Open positions came from 21st out of 24 to 3rd so congratulations to Drewziph. 6 of the top 8 right but none in the right place with Soderling and Davydenko instead of Ferrer and Fish
Interestingly no one got Fish, everyone picked the top 4 though no one went for Djoko as number 1 then 14 picked Berdych, 8 Ferrer and 3 Tsonga and no one predicted Tipsy though you would have scored a point if you had predicted him as 8th. No one predicted more than 6 of the top 8 and the hghest number of correct placings was from our winner with Federer, Nadal and Berdych in the right places giving 9 of his 13 points.
Anyway back to the countdown and in second place scoring 1 point more than Drewziph and 1 less than our winner is Eddie getting 2 points each for Nadal, Federer and Andy, 1 for Djoko nothing for Soderling in 5th, 2 for Ferrer in 6th a perfect 3 for Berdych but nothing for Verdasco so 12 out of 24 points.
So finally who is our winner? Scoring 1 for Andy, 3 for Nadal, 3 for Federer, 1 for Djoko, nothing for Soderling, 2 for Ferrer, 3 for Berdych and a zero for Davydnko our champion with a score of 13 out of 24 is ....... drum roll ........
:clap::swingin:Michael:cheer::yahoo:
Final positions in the Year end Top 8 with 1 point awarded for picking a top 8 player, another point if you placed them 1 place wrong eg putting Nadal 1st or 3rd and a full 3 points awarded for getting a player in the right place and the tie breaker being the lower your score the nearer you were to the correct answer.

At least you didn't fall as badly as me and I can't believe ASE beat me by just 8 points on the tiebreaker
Well done Michael! :trophy: Terrible predicting by me!

Congratulations Michael - what a brilliant bit of predicting!!!
:trophy:
Thanks Yorkie for running this competition.
Roll on next year ... only 4 and a bit weeks to go.
Who is going to run the comp for 2012? I assume we've only got 3 weeks to get our predictions in?

Yorkie has agreed to do it again but we're likely to need help with updating TFF and ATP Bracket information.
Do you mean the Top 8 or the C of C?
NB I think the final figures aren't yet known for this year's C of C as a couple of tournies' info has been lost?

Well, Yorkie is going to run Top8 and we hope J will continue to log the Champions and post reports.
But there's a lot of other components that no-one else looks after.
Obviously Speedy and Roasty are the FTM managers.
Thanks Yorkie and well done Michael. :trophy::clap:
I can't believe I finished in 4th

And thanks for running the comp Yorkie.

As Sally says I'll run this for next year again but like the last 2 years I'll set the closing date as first match of the Australian Open. 3 or 4 250 events will have very little bearing on the years Top 8 and having a deadline of 31 December to get in before these tournaments start will be likely to limit the entrants. I'll set a thread up soon but as I've lost the opening thread from last time will have to write up a new explanation.
 Wow what a surprise, I thought I had done badly, it didn't help that I had forgotton most of my forecasts, thanks everyone, especially a big thanks to Yorkie.
I couldn't remember mine either, but I recalled as I was watching the DC on Sunday that I had DelPo entering the Top 8 at the end of the year - that must have been my downfall (apart from having Monfils and Monaco in my Top 8 as well!).
Belated well done Michael!
Well done Michael.
Thanks Yorkie. :swingin:
