Brit on Brit action in the first round. ;)

Didn't realise evo was playing doubles too, pretty tough first round.
I was wondering whether it was Andy or Zim who had dropped serve to be 0-3 down. No matter as they've both been broken and are 0-4 down to Evo & Muller. ;)
Zimray lose the first set 6-1 in 21 minutes.
After losing the first set 6-1 it didn't look good. Now all Murray/zimmy stats have improved, evo/mu first serve stays aren't as good as they were. Still probs for m/z on second serve but hopefully the can take the second set
Evo/mu take the break back

Not going to plan now and 5 all, hoping Zimray can squeak set though.
6:5 to Zimray - a set 2 tiebreak at least.

Set point - receivers' choice
DRAT!
3 SPs come and go and now 1/12 on BPs.
Mini break to Evans and Muller. Frustrating not knowing who the server is.
Zim served first in the TB and it was a DF.

Double fault Zim! Not the best start..
Well done to Evans and Muller
Zimray lose the TB 7-2. This is when we say "at least Andy can now focus on his singles". ;)

on the verge of going out sadly, 6-2 down/Evo Muller take it in straights -too bad but Andy can concentrate on singles. Well done Dan/Giles though.

Indeed it is. Oh well, well done to evo and muller
I think taking only 1 out of 12 BPs was more of a factor in the loss.
Stuart Fraser @stu_fraser
Evans/Muller beat Murray/Zimonjic 6-1 7-6. Shocking call towards end as wide Evans volley is called in. Murray/Zimonjic protest to no avail.
A hot take, Andy hasn't won a doubles match since being knighted! ;)

Bad luck Zimray , well done Emu
Why was he playing doubles? He only seems to do it in odd tournaments. Either way, he has had a match before starting the singles, so it probably is for the best.

To get practice on court and get used to conditions. That is usually his only reason. Sometimes to help out a Brit get into draw - but not the reason here!

Well I for one love the fact Evo & Muller won the extra pennies will help those two much more than Andy and Zim
Especially as Muller went out of the singles today.
Dan playing isn't the quarter with muller. Playing Kontinen and peers so it would be a big ask to get the win. Currently on serve at the start of the first set
Pouille & Verdasco have withdrawn from the doubles even though both are still in the singles. Obviously too late for another pair to replace them which must annoy those who played and lost in doubles qualifying and miss out on the $10,270 for making the main draw which I trust the wimps P & V still don't get. :grrr:

Looks like Evans/Muller playing fairly well, however Kontinen/Peers easily win breaker 7-1 and could be uphill task now.
Dan and Gilles leading 4 -3 in the second set and serving

Unfortunately Dan/Giles couldn't take advantage and go down 7-6,6-4-however seems decent showing.
It's a shame. If it wasn't as always going to be a big ask
