F1, or it's tennis counterpart the ATP Race, hits AMFF.
Yep, it's the return of the Bubble Gap competition based on players performance in a calendar year - and the Far East swing is well on it's way.

In Rondun's absence, we'd like to open up the bubble gap for Shanghai.
Now, as you all know, I'm pretty hopeless with numbers (which is why I don't do very well in this competition) but I'm just opening it up so we can all predict our scores ....
I've posted Rondun's US Open guide in the next post and the current rankings (but it won't look nearly so pretty) and worked out the bubble gap ( I hope I get it right cos if I don't I'll be in trouble when he gets back ...)

All you have to do is predict the 'bubble gap' after Shanghai i.e. the number of points between Andy and the guy in 9th place who might or might not make it to the ATP World Tour Finals in November.
So, for example, if you think Andy will reach the SF in Shanghai then his points would be 6200 + 360 = 6560.
Then you need to guess how many points the guy in 9th place will have (maybe you think it'll be Almagro with say 2290 points) then the bubble gap would be 6560 - 2290 = 4270.
So your guess for the comp would be 4270.
If you can't be bothered to work it out just have a guess - pick a number.
The theoretical highest it can be is 4920 if Andy wins Tokyo and Shanghai (giving him 7200 points) and nobody else passes the current bubble and Almagro remains in 9th on 2280.
The absolute lowest it could be is around 3920 so have a guess between 3920 and 4920.
The better you think Andy will do, the higher the number.
Good Luck - and may the best racer win!

The Bubble Gap is currently 6200 - 2280 which is 3920.
There are points to be allocated following the Final match in Beijing which is currently being played and Berdych will earn either 300 or 500 depending on whether he wins but that won't affect the Bubble number.
Points available at Shanghai are:-
Winner-1000
Finalist-600
Semi-Finalists-360
Quarter Finalists-180
R16-90
R32-45

US OPEN CHARTS FROM RONDUN
The aim, as always, is to predict what the bubble gap will be at the end of the US Open -

the bubble gap is currently Andy's points minus the guy in 9th placed (on "the bubble") points: 4730-2080=2650

If anyone with a better mathematical brain is willing to take this on till Rondun finds us then we'd be delighted to have you on board! There are another couple of bubble gaps to run this year, and the overall scores count towards the year end Champion of Champions!
Good luck everyone.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but some people have guessed over 5000 and I make the theoretical highest 7200-2280=4920.

Linda - you're right (as an accounts person would be!).
I made some changes earlier and copied in the wrong thing figure.
Will PM those concerned to make edits.
This'll be fun .....

Jane's original post said the highest possible was 5720, i.e. 800 too high. So may I suggest that if any of those who have posted impossible bubble gaps don't get back here in time to edit them, that we take 800 off their guess, i.e. a guess of 5500 would be taken as 4700? Just a suggestion. Hopefully they will all get back in time to edit.

Linda - you fell into the trap.........just thought we'd see who spotted it first and then invite them to oversee the comp..........:flowers:

Have you turned the alert facility on in your settings Ace!??
Also, if you have selected to have a pop up informing you of a PM, have you enabled popups for this forum - I got caught out by that one.
You should know if you have a private message if you look where it says "notifications" on the top right of your page;.
Omg, your right Cazza99!!!:oops::rain:
So it looks like a procession with me in the lead until at least the semi finals are completed and hopefully Almagro and Berdych can both go quite a way and I might still be in the points with Andy reaching the final. Although of course my main interest is that I come in last place because we all know what that would mean for Andy
Come on everyone its about time you warmed up your overtaking tyres and got passed me. I hope my fuel is about to run out.
My fuel tank is completly dry. Anyone who has not passed me yet I'm here for the taking!

Me either ... I'm hoping Yorkie can shed some light on the leaderboard ;)
Had a bit of time so quickly worked out everyone's position (the fact that I'm currently top is purely coincidental!). Hopefully I've worked it out right.
Current bubble gap is 6800 (Andy's score) - 2325(Almagro's score) = 4475. Hopefully I'll go plummeting down tomorrow!
