Sooner you start, sooner you finish. Most of my lambing fields still have more water than grass unfortunately.

Maybe but only 1 lambed so spot the bad girl :red devil: .... rest will hang on till April hopefully when at least we'll have somewhere inside to give them accommodation - maybe not as plush as Cromlix but good enough for the woollies!

If you weren't a mod, we'd be getting our knuckles rapped and sent off to set up a farming thread in some dark and dingy corner of the forum lol.
Hopefully lambing still 3 weeks away here, early ones are nothing but a nuisance. Weather permitting the twins will.be inside this time next week though.

Seems like the appropriate place to share this picture of this young otter casually wondering past the wife's business http://i735.photobucket.com/albums/ww358/jaydu007/20170307_152702_zpsuu3z8fqi.jpg (http://s735.photobucket.com/user/jaydu007/media/20170307_152702_zpsuu3z8fqi.jpg.html)
She shouldn't be doing her business in the street!

Good one, J - how far to the sea?
Properly about 100 foot or so
I am green with envy. I have driven along that road many times. It's just going into Tarbet isn't it?

Read this earlier as "young otter casualty" and couldn't work out what was wrong with it lol!

Tarbert main Street. Where all the shops are ( 3 shops )
Was the otter going shopping? :big grin:
Don't know if it a coincidence but next door is a "chip shop"
Haven't you got a tourism thread to go to. This is supposed to be MY farming thread, not for people who have little better to do than photograph wildlife and advertise their local shops! ;) :rolling:

Bet if it was a picture of a beaver you wouldn't be moaning :p
Here's one for J........ SeeYa Later Alligator.
My husband encountered this while enjoying his Sunday morning round of golf last weekend here in Jacksonville, Florida. This was about 6-8 foot and it's momma hangs around the lake as well. Brings a whole new meaning to water traps!!! Hope you can make this out, he didn't get too close!!!

If you click on it you can see it.
Personally I prefer the otter any day. One of my favorite animals.
Sorry Ally but they do have Alligator Farms here, does that count???
I think I prefer the otter..........

So last summer was a hard one for us as my mum in law was in hospital and died on 18th August. We spent such a lot of time in the hospital and then sorting things out for her funeral that farming had to take a back seat.... We're paying for it now as the rams and ewes weren't separated when they should have been with inevitable consequences. So we're lambing in February and what a nightmare that is. It's been snowing off and on the whole time meaning we've got to keep the lambed ewes inside!
Ouch. Don't fancy that at all. We've still to scan the biggest lots, but spending most of my time carting feed to them. Not sure it's cost effective but they're losing condition even with feeding.
Hopefully (doesn't look like it down here) the weather picks up for you soon Jane.

Thanks Ally. Been rubbish today. On the plus side we're no longer having to bottle feed as the ewes have come into their milk. They're still lambing. Should hopefully stop in the next day or so!

Well I guess you can look on the bright side and there will not be as many to lamb later on. My brother got caught out the other year when a tup had got out. They certainly don't hang around and can errrrr service quite a few ewes in a short space of time.
I had one ram out for 3 or 4 hours max this year about a fortnight before intended. Scanner reckons there's about 12 to 15 going to lamb early.

Lambing finished yet? Not looking forward to mine. Lost a good few to the snow and the rest not looking great.
