View Full Version : Tie Break Tens - Madrid
Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. I have just read about this event and it took me somewhat by surprise, especially as it is being televised live on 'Dave'! Must be a first for that channel!
Tie Break Tens, Thursday 4 May, from 6.30pm, featuring, amongst others, Stan, Keith, Johanna, and wait for it....Sharapova!!
It's taking place in Madrid just before the Madrid Masters in aid of charity. I'm probably behind the times, but it's the first I've heard of it!

Didn't know which men were taking part but it was reported a few days ago that Jo Konta was involved. Let us hope Kei is well enough to play.

Tennis Tie Break Tens from Madrid on Dave (Sky 111) at 6.30pm on Thursday.
I've got the Dave channel on Freeview.
Watching the Tie Break Tens to see Dan. Hadn't realised Shriekapova was playing. Hope she gets hammered.

Dimitrov bt Evans 14-12, Puig bt Sharapova 10-6, Lopez bt Wawrinka 10-1, Halep bt Konta 10-2 in early results. Tbh can't read too much into this but can't afford slow starts some of the players had.
Halep beat Kutnesova in the women's final.

Halep taking it 10-6, was glad to see Dimi take the Men's title over Lopez 10-7.
I enjoyed watching the Tie Break Tens and I hope the Dave channel shows the rest of them.
I saw some of tie break tens. It's ok for a bit of fun and the players seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Evo came back well against Dimi who needed numerous match points to get over the line in the end. If Evo had started stronger he may have clinched that.

Forgot to record it and I was out yesterday afternoon at the Hockney Exhibition and then a lovely Italian Restaurant in Charlotte Street.
I really enjoyed TB Tens last night. By the looks of it so did Dan! Highlight for me was Dan's comeback against Dimi even though he ultimately lost. Stan was completely blown away! Think he got 1 point! Liked the coverage (despite annoying ads) and Petch and Sam Smith good commentators.

sort of liked it! I'm not sure who they are trying to appeal to though. 4 hours is a long time to watch tennis if you're not really a tennis fan. And if you are, why not watch a couple of proper matches or one humdinger of a grand slam match? It was sort of dumbed down tennis and ok-ish. Liked watching the players chatting together etc and it was certainly the best thing ever on Dave!!

Agreed on all points.
