Its always interesting to watch Andy suss out a new opponent. Not expecting too much from the first set as it takes him a bit of time - just hope he hangs on to his own service.
After that I reckon he will have got his tactics planned and working. GO ANDY
they have met, andy said in one recent interview that he had practised with KK, last year?

Is Vedran Martic, coach to Khachanov, related to Petra Martic?
Oh :grrr: I have to go out 12.30-3.30.
Is Vedran Martic, coach to Khachanov, related to Petra Martic?
Googled it and could not find anything saying related. He did coach Petra for a while (and also Goran Ivanisovic), but the post did not mention a relative.

Is Vedran Martic, coach to Khachanov, related to Petra Martic?
Just googled him, cannot see they are related but in the past he has coached Petra Martic
They practiced together in April 2015 when Andy had a training block in Barcelona before the clay season and he practised with several young players. It was the week Bjorkman joined the team.

This is Khachanov's first French Open and only his third slam. His biggest win so far was beating Goffin in the 3rd round of Barcelona in April. Barcelona clearly plays a big part in his life as he got married there in November last year. He was 21 two weeks ago.
Think I'd be feeling more relaxed about tomorrow if Andy was playing Isner! Everything crossed for another good win.
The Very,Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup:
I hope Andy wins, so I can watch him play either Verdasco or Nishikori on Wednesday (which also happens to be my birthday).
All the very best of luck, Andy
All the best Andy! :boogie:
Hoping for AM (obviously...!!!). Wouldn't be surprised if it goes to 4.
Equally at the start of this tournament I would have bitten your hand off for the lad getting into the second week, so whatever happens is good for me.
I am off to Orkney in the morning, so going to miss most of what happens hereafter.

Really?! I was quietly confident that the extra motivation that a GS brings would fire him up and that he would turn things around at RG. I expected a few tough matches in the first week but he's where I thought he's be and I have every confidence he will work this young guy out too.
Have a lovely time in Orkney. I've never been but would love to.

Only 1 first serve but a love hold. 1-0
2-1, Andy yet to concede a point on serve.
If KK had nerves, they've gone. 2-2

Yes this guy is no pushover and has relaxed - Andy kind of let him play his way in. Don't completely understand that.
Come on Andy!
Strong boy, not keen on heavy bashers - this could be a long one! Could do with a quick break to quieten him down.
Agreeing with Petchey about Andy's defensive skills.
Well done Andy - he heard me!

Andy's looking super efficient today
All about the BH that game. 0-1
That's what happens with crazy 106MPH second serves. :p
Disappeared to sort out a little altercation between a visiting dog and my cat, and the lad breaks, and holds. Good man.
"King of the Lobs". 15-15
Break point for Khachanov.
Huge returning from KK. 3-3
Good man. Don't let him get ideas.
I expected an immediate break back!!
Petchey talking about the Olympics. Paris is the favourite to win in September.
Second set to Andy - great stuff - 6 - 4 :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Well done Andy. Double break would be nice just to ensure you get off court early. C'mon Andy!
Courier predicting KK a future top 5 player but sounded like only because the #nextgen has not much depth.
"King of the Lobs". 30-30
Agreeing with Petchey about Andy being the best player on the planet.
Only 1 first serve isn't going to do it. 4-4

Well done, Andy!:dance::dance: I don't know whether Andy was expecting the question about the London attack from Fabrice but he handled it very well I thought.

Congrats Andy - a great match - looking to me like we can say that he is back playing close to his best.
Lovely words from him too acknowledging what terrible things have been happening in recent times.
Thanks Andy - so pleased to see you as the great player you are again - have missed this!

I think he was expecting it from what Fabrice said at beginning. Brought tears to my eyes as he spoke. Well done Andy!
That was Andy's 650th tour win (doesn't warrant a cake ;)) and he's made 23 out of 25 slam QFs.
Brilliant speech from Andy, first thought about the attacks not the win....Bravo young man, such a thoughtful gentleman! Prayers & thoughts to #London #Paris #Manchester #We are United
Crofty suggesting Andy's calm demeanour is as a result of Lendl having a word. That narrative will never die.
That was a great performance from Andy rounded off by those lovely words at the end. Bravo Andy. Andy was so assured today...he was very cool, calm and collected and he was thinking! He definitely had his 'I'm not losing this match today' outfit on. It may have lacked the excitement and drama of the Delpo match, but I'll take that! That was probably down to Andy not allowing KK to dominate. So pleased that everything seems to be coming right for Andy again. It's great for us too having Andy going deeper and deeper in a slam. :bravo::clap::clap:
Very moving speech from Andy. He is a great ambassador for the UK and sport in general.
It puts a tennis match into true perspective.

Definitely. Win or lose I think Andy wanted to speak those words. Underlines the compassionate caring person he is.

Well we can still have cake! I will have some with my coffee a bit later. 650th win!! Fantastic!

Glad it was a fairly comfortable win for Andy and seems in a good frame of mind right now , though Khachanov obviously talented. Great to hear Andy giving priority to recent sad events, certainly has put everything into perspective.

I thought Andy was showing that what is happening in London/Manchester is far more important than playing a tennis match.
Well done Andy!!
Thanks to Halep finishing off her match so quickly I managed to see the first set of Andy's match before I had to go out. Will watch my recording of the rest later. Have to say I thought Andy played superbly for the set I saw!

You can feel the confidence growing and growing - hopefully back to where it was at the end of last year.....and all the way to the final here.
I'll be honest and admit I had my doubts how far he would go in Paris - shame on me, but I bet I wasn't the only one

Very good win's and performances in the last two rounds and I also wish for an easy win against Kei however, they have been anything but easy in the last year DC US Open and the ATP finals

Quite positve about him playing Kei - far more than I expected if I am honest. Briliant match today and very confident he can reach the semis
