Perfect response. 1-1
Unlike Keith's. Why clutch your head and lean on backboard - not complaining, but why on earth give Andy those signs?

Come on Andy. Break!
Wow - reading through your posts I'm glad I missed the end of that set and the beginning of this. Even though the midges were out in full force, my dog walk was definitely less stressful. C'mon, Andy, just bury this now - no walkabouts please!
Two break points for Andy.
That's one way to get the break. 3-1

What a point to break. Well done Andy :cheer:....oh a consolidation would be good....
Love hold. Another break here and maybe we can relax...
Brilliant serving for a love hold. 4-1

Four games on the trot but STILL would like a double break please!
OT I know, but I see Nole will drop out of the top two for the first time in six years!

Right, time to turn the screw. Land some serious blows for the double break Andy :swingin:
some riidiculous play, lobs, droppers and stunning angles, kei to serve at 1-4 down
This is done and dusted....

Wasn't best start to the set but Nishikori couldn't take advantage and Andy now seemingly in strong position, keep it going!
This is done and dusted....Nnnooooooooooooooooooooooooo

What brilliant serving in the final set!!! Tremendous Andy. :boogie::yahoo::boogie::yahoo:

Understated brilliance from Andy in this match. If allowed to play, Keith's style is seriously flashy and frightening, but Andy got under his skin quite superbly to drag his level down. This was one smart match from Andy :clap::clap:

Nice little fistpump from Ivan!
YES! YES! AND YES!...GET IN!!!....:thumbup::thumbup:

Well done Andy. You should have the tanks full for Stan. Feel you will have to step it up another level but, hey, that is what you did today! Well done! :) :)
I take it nobody got in contact with Fabrice and gave him questions. :p ;)

Great win Andy, Serve improved towards end, will need it against Stanimal
YAYYYYYYY!!! Not too long either....2 hours 39 mins. Unfortunately my stream ended abruptly at the end of the match, so no interview :crying:
semi will be on friday won't it?

Well done Andy. A good win in the end. You will need all your energy for Friday against Stan.
I hope Andy in his press conference nips in the bud "the entire match hung on the time violation" story.

Fantastic win Andy from a set down. In my opinion improving all the time. Semi-final here we come.:yahoo::knight::GBflag:
There we go folks! Andy thru to the SF's!! How cool is that!! That was a fascinating match. Another good test for our great thinker and tactician. Although Keith played great in the first set, Andy was able to turn the tables and do to Keith what he had been doing to Andy in that first set. I think the challenge of Stan will bring the best out in Andy on Friday...bring it on! I can't wait. Well done again Andy!! I am just beyond chuffed that he has gone so deep in this tournament (as I always believed he would!! Gloat! Gloat!) :cheer::clap::swingin:
Well done Andy. I won't be able to watch the semi (unless it's a late one) - perhaps a good thing because I'm very nervous about it but so want Andy to win on my birthday! (just as he's done on Stell's birthday happy birthday).
I hope Andy in his press conference nips in the bud "the entire match hung on the time violation" story.

Was feeling very low after that first set - but Andy really turned it on (thanks Ump) and showed who was boss. Kei's level dropped quite a bit too - 27% first serve in 2nd set and a lot more unforced errors.
But Andy's class came through. Thought the crowd were pretty lukewarm to him, but maybe they just wanted a longer match or were supporting the underdog.
Just come back from a day out very, very pleased to see the win. Will be stressed about Wawrinka.

Once the second set was Andy s there was little question.
Andy is a great tennis player but even better tactician. He works out what is needed to change the pattern of play and has the confidence to go for it.
Well played Andy....bring on Stan
Eurosport twitter quote from Andy's presser .......
"They are playing extremely well this season (Rafa, Thiem, Stan) and I came in playing garbage (smiling) " :big grin:
Hopefully you get the full presser Bardot....:)
I saw the final set ... just pulled up on the drive as Andy won the 4th set TB 7-0. I felt very comfortable in the final set ... but I missed all the stress ... believe me I would rather watch, stress or no stress!
Feel like Andy has really played himself into this tournament, just like I predicted he would (oh it's so good to be right ;) :big grin: ) I'm sure it's everything to do with this being a GS and these are what fire Andy up. Contrast his "come ons" with Djoko's flat demeanour ... there's no comparison is there?

Carolyn I believe the TB was the third set and 4th set was final set.

Think people on here were only agreeing with Andy's own assessment - which is he was playing gargage before he came in to RG (and was sick).
Guess if he can say it we can too. Doesn't mean anyone was writing him off!
He still really needs to pick up the aggression from the start - if he starts against Stan like he did against Nishi and others, he will be struggling big time. Stan won't fall apart and doesn't have many weaknesses to exploit

Agreed Andy was saying he wasn't playing well, but that doesn't mean he didn't believe he could turn it around and like I said, his motivation for a GS was always going to be high. People can say and believe what they like of course, but I think you're wrong, I think people were writing him off (I mean for this tournament).
Personally , I didnt have high expectations of him coming into RG based on the last few months , altho I would never write him off
things can turn around quickly in tennis

Okay, Caro - you were right.:clap::clap: Good for you - I'm glad you were. That doesn't mean that those of us who were concerned for Andy's health were wrong - as fans we all just want the best for him.

I said I thought Josephine was wrong about some people writing him off! People were writing him off (for this tournament and in some cases beyond "maybe he's had enough" was one comment I remember) and of course now he's doing well again those people are denying it .... Hey ho, you just be sarcastic if you like :clap:

Agreed Jo....but I think he will.. I think he will come out like he did against Delpo. Very focused. When Andy comes out against a big server/easy holder he's usually focused from the get go. Andy will know that he'll have to be ready for Stan from point one, and I think he will be :peace::)

I am confident Andy will start with his A game against Stan. He knows Stan is a step up from Kei (sorry I just don't see him as Keith).

I wasn't actually being sarcastic - I am absolutely delighted that you were right.

Think it was just a predictive text slip-up which stuck!! Like Olivo...my text wanted to call him Olive and I'm afraid that's what I now call him!

Well in that case I apologise ... written word, always up for misinterpretation.

What a great finish to that match, I had to rush off to put dinner out and then was slightly behind on the rest!
Glad I finish work early at the minute and will get to hurry home for tomorrow's match! Will be behind with it too!
