View Full Version : SHANGHAI MASTERS 2011, Quarter-Final: Ebden ebbs away as Andy assures Semi place 6'3, 6'2

Nice way to deal with the BP Andy - much better serving in the second set!
Ebden looks like winning every point when he comes to the net at the moment.
One game to go.
If Andy wins Shanghai will he replace Federer at #3 spot?

Well done Andy. I think both ourselves and Ebden's supporters can take heart from the performances. Andy just looking really tired. So glad he stayed focused and did not get caught up in a third set.
Anything now IMHO is a bonus as I suspect the last three weeks are starting to catch up with Andy.
Well done today!

Andy said he hasn't lost a match since he stopped tweeting so he's not in any hurry to start again - superstition and all that
Bye everyone. Thanks for comments and company. See you again tomorrow xx

Yes he said players are superstitious and he's been playing well since he stopped tweeting. So hope he won't be resuming any time soon, which will mean he's still winning!
He also said it was "weird" how nervous he felt today but wasn't really sure why - didn't seem to particularly think it was down to playing someone he hasn't played before - he said he knew a fair amount about Ebden, having watched a few of his matches in the past.

Andy did well today I'm so happy. I was on his website and I noticed he has entered the Valencia tournie, last month it was not on his tournament list, anyone noticed that too ? Or is it a mistake. Good luck against Nishi 2moro. :wino::wino:

According to Mark Petchey Andy isn't down to play either Valencia or Basel but he did say that might change.

Andy isn't on the entry list for Valencia here (http://www.tennisteen.it/notizie/entry-list/12999-atp-entry-list-31-ottobre-6-novembre-2011.html) but I suppose he could ask for a wild card.

Well done Andy! :)
This was the 1st match I've seen for a very long while and I've liked what I saw! :) Some great shots there!
Of course it was the magic black shirt that did it again
Except in the second set!
Oh, did he change back to the red? I unfortunately had to go out after the first two games of the match

I can't believe he's only got one black shirt - wish he'd stayed in black it's so sophisticated.
Yes, Pam, 'sophisticated' is just the word I was looking for. When I saw him in his black shirt last week, I thought 'All of a sudden he looks grown up!' ('cos I'd always sort of looked on him like a kid before) - but 'sophisticated' is a much better way of putting it!

Another day, another Murray victory! He really has hit a rich vein of form - no doubt helped by the love we showed him in Glasgow last month! :grouphug:

There is probably a grain of truth in that. The love and appreciation shown to him in both the
Glasgow ties perhaps gave him a boost and an even greater determination to do well for the rest of the season
