What toys did Martina throw out of the pram in her ladies doubles match? I missed that
She threw a bit of a strop, and received a code violation, but it was hardly as bad as that idiot described.

Absolutely delighted that Jamie and Martina are playing together. Not everyone's cup of tea, but have always loved Hingis. She's tells it like it is, to the point of being cutting (remember when she dumped Novotna for being "too old and slow now" :-/ ), big and deserved compliment that she hunted Jamie out for partnership. Hope the dream team takes the title. C'mon guys!

Great form from Jamie/Martina and a class above, well done! Good effort from Skupski/Rae though. Marathon final set in the Men's Doubles, well done Marach Pavic! Will face Kubot/Melo in final who also had tough one upsetting top seeds Kontinen/Peers 9-7 in 5th.

Tight match but great for Henri/Heather to come through in end, well done! Don't know why they can't have the highlights at the end of live play (used to be the case years ago)
Brilliant match,Brilliant result, so close but they got the win Well Done!!!:cheer::cheer:
All the British hopes on the mixed now!
Absolutely! I'm hoping for a Jamie/Martina v Henri/Heather final and then we are guaranteed the title!
Henri and Heather are last on Court 1, today. Jamie and Martina have no court and will not play before 4pm.
That's strange, when there appears to be nothing on No.2 Court after the current match
I suspect they are keeping the Jamie match up their sleeves in case there are two shortish matches on Centre this afternoon.
Watson/Kontinen v. Vesnina/Soares confirmed for Court 1.
Makarova and Vesnina beat Groenefeld and Peschke 7 - 5, 6 - 2.
Chan and Niculescu beat Ninomiya and Voracova 7 - 6 (7 - 4), 4 - 6, 9 - 7.
JAMES4578
14-07-2017, 17:26
Certainly very tough one for Chan/Niculescu,/Makarova/Vesnina should have upper hand tomorrow.
1 - 1 between Kontinen and Watson and Soares and Vesnina.
As the singles semi has finished on Centre, my guess is that they'll put Jamie's doubles on there.
Kontinen and Watson break to make it 5 - 4.
Henri and Heather win the first set 6 - 4.
Jo Whiley and her partner go into the final :)

3 - 3 for Jamie and Martina.
Henri and Heather are two points away from the final.
Match point for Henri and Heather.

I'm supporting Jamie and Martina, though will happy enough if Henri/Heather defend the title. Whilst Jamie/Martina with the more comfortable wins and certainly impressing they have not faced any top ten teams.
What sparkling tennis in the Mixed! Shame they were on at the same time. There were some amazing rallies in the Heather/Henry match which was played in such good spirit. I hate to have to choose who I want to win, but I think I would like to see Jamie and Martina do it on Sunday...might help to cheer Andy up too and have a Murray win a grand slam!

I'm really hoping Jamie and Martina win, only because it's been 10 years since he last won and Heather and Henri won last year but I'll be happy either way. Looking forward to the mixed final once all the Fed worship is done. Just hoping my Canadian sports station shows it - they did last year so hopeful they'll do it again this year.
I too was sad both matches were on at the same time. I am looking forward to the final and hosing it will be a win for Jamie and martina

I will certainly be watching the mixed doubles with more glee than the singles. Can't choose. They are both lovely fun pairs to watch. I must say I find Jamie and Martina a very strong team. Maybe they will stick together for a long time.
I don't know if I should put it here, but the funniest thing I saw, yesterday, was the invitation doubles match between Jaeger and Martinez and Clijsters and Stubbs. Clijsters got a man, probably weighing about 20 or 30 stones, out from the crowd and make him wear the women's outfit on court.
I will watch and enjoy the Mixed Doubles Final. I will be supporting Heather W - (sorry Jamie). I just have a soft spot for her. Her delight when she wins is just so infectious.
As for the Singies Final I shan't be watching it at all. Both of the finalists repulse me.
I agree with you, Teresa, about the final. I didn't watch it and I think they should have a retirement age so we don't keep getting the Williams sisters (or either of them) or Federer in the finals.
Is anyone watching the men's doubles final? It's been an absolutely fantastic match - such a shame that one team has to lose.
JAMES4578

I agree with you, Teresa, about the final. I didn't watch it and I think they should have a retirement age so we don't keep getting the Williams sisters (or either of them) or Federer in the finals.
In my view a bit of a ridiculous argument, 35+ players wouldn't be getting to finals if they weren't in form (though know Fed is fresher), it is up to other players to step up and time will eventually catch up with them.
Is anyone watching the men's doubles final? It's been an absolutely fantastic match - such a shame that one team has to lose.
Personally wouldn't miss any Wimbledon final, yes good contest in Men's Doubles though reasonable point was made that not many returners like The Woodies nowadays.
Just switched it on again - still going strong.
Agree with you on both points above James.
Will the ladies' doubles get on today?
JAMES4578
15-07-2017, 19:23
Will the ladies' doubles get on today?
Depends how long this goes on I suppose and if if they want to play till 11.
This is a marathon, isn't it!
Centre court crowd really getting their money's worth! They're loving It! Think I would like to see Marach/Pavic win. Then Marcus and Jay can say they were beaten by the eventual winners! But really they all deserve to win. SO close.
The longest men's double final was 5 hours 1 minute and the score 19:17 according to the BBC. Hope they manage to break the record. They will probably close the roof soon.
JAMES4578
15-07-2017, 20:01
Roof closed and after 2 games suddenly all over. Great returning as Melo/Kubot take it 13-11 in bit of a classic, well done! Credit to Marach/Pavic who came so close though.
2 very happy bunnies on Centre! Really feel for Marach and Pavic. What a match!
Well done to both pairs. A fantastic match - a pity one pair had to lose.
Does anyone know how long the match was?
Does anyone know how long the match was?

Well done to both pairs. An epic effort. Wishing Murray and Hingis all the best for tomorrow. A Brit will take the title regardless

Great match. Jackie and I left at 11 all when they closed the roof. So please Garbine won too. Got her autograph as I was sat right where the players come in.
The Very Best of Luck Jamie & Martina!!!:thumbup:
I watched it as well. While they closed the roof, the BBC had to show the women's final again. Then, as soon as Kubot and Melo won it, the BBC had to show the women's final yet again. They only showed a few seconds of Kubot and Melo lifting their trophies. I then watched the women's doubles final, which was one sided, and the BBC couldn't be bothered to show Makarova and Vesnina lift their trophies. I know after Federer wins the men's final, today, the BBC will announce the new Dr Who actor/actress. I'm seriously hoping it won't clash with the mixed doubles final. I don't want the BBC to announce the person, then interview the person and then suddenly realise Jamie and Martina and Henri and Heather have already started their final.
I was annoyed by that too. After such an epic match, I felt the least they could have done was to show the trophy presentation in its entirety - it's a muted enough affair as it is!
Josephine
16-07-2017, 07:44
Once the tennis has finished on BBC1, it usually always starts on BBC2 - so just turn over! Hopefully as it is Jamie and Heather they will show the match - though they sometimes cut away to interview the Men's winner in the studio with Sue....
Sorry - in reply to previous post.
.......... but they did continue with the tennis - they showed the replay of the Ladies' final rather than the Doubles' trophy presentation!
JAMES4578
16-07-2017, 09:27
Likely there will be an interview in the studio with the Men's winner (particularly if it's Fed as expected), however I'm sure the Mixed will continue on the Red Button and BBC Sports website.

i watched the end of the men's doubles and all of the ladies' on the BBC Sports website. Both times the stream was open right through to the end of the presentations which included the juniors. I have been using their all court coverage quite often because I get irritated by all the interruptions to change channels or to tell you what is happening on other courts - which I know by watching their livescores page. I realise not everyone will have access to the website but if you have it is very good. Some of the invitation doubles matches were entertaining too - and the Woodys were still good together!
