Yes, very excited about the champs.
Starts early saturday morning with the women's marathon at 1am.
Men's 100m final at 12.45pm on sunday. No asafa powell now though.
Wooo. Looking forward to this.
Mo Farah 11.30am sunday morning.
Can't wait.
o Christine o :pale:
just switched it on. Did she false start?
ouch, just seen it. Her interview was painful to watch.

ye never heard of her who ever she is ,no doubt hired as a bit of eye candy(tho i havnt seen her yet )
100m men QUALIES about to get under way
I really miss the BBC doing this.
So much for Usain looking rusty. lol.
Also, I was incredulous when I saw Christine false starting. But she was never going to really contend for a medal anyway.
Mo farah at 11.30am tomorrow. Men's 100 at 12.45pm.
100 m semis up next @ 10:30
Don't have a lot of time for Chambers but that disqualification was a joke.
A straight red for Ohuruogu was fair enough, but surely there should be some leeway for a slight flinch.
it is very harsh, feel sorry for him
mo time
can mo hold of KB
Can CH4 GO 27 minutes with noads
Silver for Farah. He needed to have gone earlier IMO.

Another batch of posts ...
Unlucky for Mo, but Jeilan must've run a crazy time in the last 400m to win. David Moorcroft reckoned Mo should've kicked later than he did. Not sure about that one.
omg
When did they take away allowing one false start?
When did they take away allowing one false start?

the European promoters like to run a tight schedule :?:
its a nonsense IMO
Gutting for Mo, but still well done on the silver! It certainly was a shock for Bolt and does seem unfair!
Still a superb effort by Mo. Obviously disappointed for him.
Was stunned by Usain—he didn't even need a good start.
He'll be very motivated for the 200m now though.
Oh and as for the false start rule. Back when it was introduced I remember thinking they had gone a step too far. The previous iteration of the rule (one false start for anybody and the whole field is under yellow) was best.

I agree. At least there was a chance for one false start without disqualifying anyone.
Jess Ennis starts the heptathlon at 2am.
She should be gunning for Denise Lewis' national record.
Gutted for Mo, really thought he was going to win. Funny that Bolt false started, when Dwain did it we said would be funny if Bolt does it and he did!
Good first day for Jess Ennis. Leads going into day 2.

Its stupid removing false starts altogether.
Javelin was poor from Ennis today. Cost her a shot at the gold.
Well done to Chernova.
Yes such a pity but stil a silver for Jessica and sure you can be stronger next year.

shame to see young ortis deley has been dropped from presenting the championship due to complaints. yes, i realised he was not the most competent, but he wasn't that bad.
aww, this one's even worse. there is a compilation of moments on youtube. michael johnson visibly cringing.

poor lad.
The guy who presents the highlights show is rotten too, and I've made my feelings clear about the interview woman. It's like 4 have tried to dumb athletics down.

A gold and a silver today, making Van Commenee's prediction of 7 or 8 medals with at least one gold look a bit more achievable.

Well done Bolt
and :lol!: at him running from the photographers
Amazing performances from Sally Pearson and Usain today.
Pearson's was the fastest 100m hurdle time I have ever witnessed. Shame Tiffany Porter hit the hurdles, she would have been in the mix for a medal and would have broken the British record again.
Usain was back to his best and that was 4th fastest time ever. And don't forget Lemaitre, 19.80, French record. Superb.
bolt but a bit of effort into that today, great performance thinkeuropean record may be in danger next year(bout time)
Yes, Bolt certainly made amends and good to see some fab performances! Haven't seen a great deal during the week with the Us Open being on and working all day.

big well done mo what a performance

gutted for Phillips, but what can you do he competed well only for Taylor to produced a monster jump
well done on the silver
Well done Mo. :D
Phillips did great. Probably his best series of jumps ever, but the American just did something superlative. Well done to him.
The 4*100 world record was great to watch as well.
Fabulous for Mo, really happy for him! A bit gutting for Phillips but he gave it his best shot!
Well done Makau for breaking the world record for the marathon in Berlin.
Come on Paula :)
Well Done Paula!!! :D

The Olympic title is wide open - any one of the top 4 could take it - let's hope it's Jess!

bleasdale, osagie, both relays (with the women being particularly superb). also well done to young andrew pozzi on 4th in the hurdles.
Congratulation to Team GB athletics on their great performance to finish 2nd in the medals table. Good to see the improvement in field events. :yahoo:
Special congrats to Holly Bleasdale, Yamile Aldama [our woman from Havana :) ]and the brilliant women's 4 x 440 relay team. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Mo finished 4th in the 3000m but it is going to be very hard for him to break the stranglehold by the Kenyans in long distance events.
Not a good run for Mo - he seemed to time his break badly and then managed to get himself boxed in. His training partner ran a much better race to take gold - hopefully, Mo will reverse that in the summer.

Didn't the commentators say Mo got elbowed? :grrr:
There was an awful lot of argy-bargy through most of the races but they seemed to dismiss it as part of indoor competition - though why it should be acceptable indoors if it isn't outdoors beats me. The GB Team put in a protest on behalf of Mo and to begin with the other guy was disqualified but he was subsequently reinstated. Same thing happened with the GB/US relay teams.

Perhaps. But I still believe at 3000 Mo' will probably get out kicked most of the time, so he felt he had to go a little earlier.
And I thought Mo' trained with Galen Rupp? Is Lagat in the same training group?
I thought he was but I may well be wrong. I agree though, 5,000 m and 10,000m are much better distances for Mo.

Still think drug cheats should be punished under the rules that were in place when the cheating took place or was discovered. They knew the rules and they broke them. I will never support Chambers or Miller.

I do believe the ban should be increased to four or five years however.

I don't know much about Millar, but will never support Dwain Chambers. I saw an interview with him not long after the original ban, basically saying he didn't regret what he'd done, that he needed drugs to give him an edge over other athletes, and he wouldn't have beaten them otherwise, therefore he took the drugs. He was almost glorying in it!
He later recanted much of that, blamed his coach, and tried claiming he hadn't known he was taking drugs. I think that after his attempt to switch to American Football failed, and he realised he could never compete for Britain at athletics again unless he changed his tune, he just told them what they wanted to hear. That's just my opinion.
Personally, I think he's a disgrace and he should never be allowed to represent his country again.

I agree with all of the above and really hope that the selectors do not select either of them for the Olympics - whether or not they are allowed to disregard them if they have the best times I don't know. I can't help but think how I would feel if I was an athlete who was not selected because either of these two were.

Know the decision is controversial but personally whilst I agree that those violating the rules should face stiff punishment I'm not convinced on lifetime olympic bans.
i was as disappointed & disgusted as anyone in DC when he was caught, however the level of vitriol shown to him & the demonetization of him have made me feel sorry for him, so i take him out the equation of the life time ban
personally i agree with those who say it should stand and don't care if that is more harsh than other countries that should be summit to be proud of too many nations (Spain;)) try to hide their drug cheats. having said that now that the decision is made i would expect any one chosen to be treated equally or at the very least ignored i would hate to see anyone booed

Felt soooo sorry for Britain's Jess Ennis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Ennis) yesterday - she ran a personal best in the 100m hurdles at the Manchester GreatCity Games - but although she won the race, the time had to be disallowed as the race organisers had somehow managed place only 9 hurdles on the track rather than the requisite 10!
The race organisers have apologised...
"We're embarrassed and disappointed," said David Hart of organisers Nova. "We're pleased Jessica has accepted our apology. We take full responsibility and it won't happen again."

...but it must be hugely disappointing for Jess! In fact, she has tweeted to that effect:
Absolutely gutted with what happened in the hurdles today! But what an amazing crowd they were great!
However it happened, though, a PB coming up to the Olympics in July is really encouraging...!

That's a fantastic result. I wonder how close she would've got to the magic 7000 if she'd nailed the high jump.
Edit: just found a multi-event points scoring calculator (http://cheshireaa.com/statistics/CEscoring.htm). If Jess had equalled her high jump PB, she would've scored 7036 points.
well she got 1041 for a 1.85 she would have needed to jump 1:92 to get 1132
her BP is 195

Just what I thought. First of all he only concentrated on the Russians, not even seeing Sharp making her brilliant run - then he thought she was the other Brit - shocking!!!
I see that, after their disqualification at the European Champs, the British women will not compete in the 4x100m relay because they've dropped out of the the top 16 nations. I feel so sorry for the poor girl who ran out of her lane and caused the disqualification - she'll never forgive herself.

Seems that by finishing fourth in the Europeans our girls 4x4 relay doesn't qualify for the Olympics - anyone know why?

Just read it in the Scotsman.i looked at the ranking sheets las week il find it later after tennis they where 7-8, dont see why they would have went backwards
Maybe they've got them muddled up with the 4x100 relay - it wouldn't be the first time they'd got it totally wrong.
oops anyway ye i would be stunned if they arnt included they are a genuine medal threat
That's what I thought and it's Lee McConnell's only chance of being there - probably her last chance.

It was actually the Herald that I read it in not the Scotsman - this is the quote : 'Scots Lee McConnell and Eilidh Child, alongside Nicola Sanders and Shana Cox did at least complete the distance in their 4x400m final but they were left frustrated with fourth, which rules them out of the Olympics, and also cursing their luck.'
I'm sure they've got it wrong.

10.05 and new champ record and a pb.
Finally, at least we have one young sprinter to keep us talking about the sprints for the future.

Finally, at least we have one young sprinter to keep us talking about the sprints for the future.the lad apparently dosnt even have a full year experience as an athlete , great prospect tho lets hope none of the media put to much pressure on for the Olympics
I heard an interview where he said he was a footballer just over 6 months ago, someone spotted how fast he wheeched down the wing and suggested he should refocus on his running.
ye incredible really & really exciting that he has so much still to learn and this is just pure raw talent
we have surprisingly done well at WJC sprints tho none of them have went on to show this at seniors, the lad has a shot
He was a trainee at Premier League club Chelsea and moved to League Two Dagenham & Redbridge. He played 10 games at right-back on loan at Thurrock in the Isthmian League Premier Division earlier this season.
Amazing performance - high hopes for this boy!

Think the tix available are for para athletics which starts at the end of Wimbledon (men's semis).
The Great Western Run starts at 9am in Exeter this Sunday. The starter, last year, was Jo Pavey. I met her and she seemed to be a very nice person and had loads of time for everyone. This year, it's James Cracknell. But, I won't be there as I'll be in London.
Sad news today for British athletics that Jessica Ennis-Hill has retired. She will be missed in British athletics for her great performances in the heptathlon and her very cheerful personality.
She is an inspiration to all young British athletes.

If anyone was unsuccessful in the ticket ballot for next year's world athletics championships, they're going to have a resale on the 28th of this month from 10am.
