Rugby fans, I have started this thread as you can see!! :)

Are we the only rugby fans?? I haven't seen as much as I'd like (not a morning person  ) but i'm still on a high from Ireland's win on Saturday :D And followed by Dublin winning the all Irealnd for the first time in 16 years it was a great weekend sportswise for me :D

It was a fantastic weekend for me too. GB won, England won, Lancashire won (cricket) and Saints beat Wigan (RL) Don't think we are the only Rugby fans but the boys don't seem to be posting a lot on here.

As usual, Scotland snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and now have to beat England to qualify for the QFs.

I agree Scotland should have won that match - just one lapse of concentration when they were controlling the match and that was that. Having said that, we should have had a penalty at the end - the Argentinian player was clearly off side - I would think the ref will cringe when he sees the playback.

Worse than that, we probably have to beat them by 7 to deny them a bonus point!

The ref won't cringe. He was favouring Argentina throughout the match - awarding penalties when a prop loses his footing is a new one to me.

That aside, we shoud have won. One lapse in concentration cost the try, and why Parks wasn't at least 5 yards deeper for the DG attempt we may never know! Its not as if he was near the limit of his range.

Trying to watch Ireland v Wales and Andy v Ferrer at the same time is a tricky business!

Phew - Mr P is still watching the recording but I can breathe easy and put the black armband away till the next round! I've got Australia in the office sweepstake, so i think I can kiss that goodbye tomorrow!

Editing to say, just went in the lounge and innocently asked how the match was going. "Tight" was the reply "probably best you don't stay in case I get badtempered".......so I left but managed to cover the smile on my face - didn't want to spoil it for him!

Better second half, but just not good enough. Well done France, you were the better team - but I think you'll struggle against Wales in the semis. Hopefully.

I think anyone will struggle against Wales if they play the way the did today. Jamie Roberts will be a big loss though if his broken nose is confirmed.

Really? I didn't realise he was injured.

Saints????? As in Southampton (how can you tell I don't follow footie? :shamed:) - if so, that's who Mr P follows too - no wonder he was glum yesterday not to mention a shocking round of golf!

I think you'll find its Saints as in St Helens - Rugby League.

Pat, will you concentrate!! Remember in the Travelodge foyer when I had received info from husband that Saints had beaten Wigan and you said exactly the same thing. Sally told you I meant St Helens - Rugby League!!!! Well St Helens does have Saint in its name unlike Southhampton and Northhampton!!:)

Don't worry, Pat, I assumed that Saints was Southampton too. :shamed:

Best of luck to Wales tomorrow. Would love to see them win the Cup! Hook needs a big game, Priestland has been awesome up 'til now

Wouldn't it be fantastic to see Wales in the final? They've got a great chance, too. As long as Cap'n Hook doesn't mess up.

They've got a massive mountain to climb now, though, thanks to Alain Rolland

Gut wrenching loss, that. Wales were terribly unlucky to lose by only one point.

New Zealand will tear the French a new one in the Final.

Yep. Wales would've had a chance, but not France. France didn't really pose much of an attacking threat at all against Wales. Good defence, though.

Alain Rolland - although an Irish man has a French father and is fluent French speaking - one has to question the wisdom of choosing him to referee the match. Gutted for Wales - they played their hearts out - sometimes it just isn't meant to be. Great run though - they were much the best of the home sides.

So disappointed for Wales. Didn't think it should have been a sending-off offence. Sin-bin would have been much fairer. And why oh why didn't Wales go for a drop kick? Oh well, have to be an All Black supporter now. Do hope they get to final and win it! But congratulations Wales...you did well!

Agreed - NZ are the only team worth supporting now. And they deserve it for being the best team in the world pretty much forever.

Hard luck Wales. A close match against Australia but you can hold your heads high. Great tournament for a young team. Now for the final....Come on the All Blacks!!

The anthems and the Haka were amazing this morning!

Shame about the game...

Found myself rooting for the French after the dodgy refereeing in the first half.

Some shocking kicking from both sides is keeping it close.

Thought France were a bit unlucky today, but overall New Zealand deserved to win the World Cup!

Thought the referee had a good game, you've been listening to D'Allaglio too much. ;)

I loved the Haka and the anthems. Not the match I was expecting but agree with AllyB that New Zealand deserved to win the World Cup. I'm just thrilled they did. Husband pleased as his forecasts so far have been a bit dodgy.:rolling: Well done the All Blacks!!!:cheer:
