One from the old forum that I started. So here we go again. Yesterday was chatting to husband about the bad weather. Said I hoped it wasn't going to be wet today. He asked me if I was having my hair done. I replied thatI have it done every Wednesday. He then asked what was I having done. Looking a bit bemused I answered a blow-dry. He then said that he thought I was having my highlights done. I looked long and hard at him and told him that my highlights had been done last week and did he ever look at me!!! He had the grace to look a little sheepish and said that he must have been out!!!!!!:rolling:

My 5 year old daughter caused great amusement in our house recently when we were planning our holiday to France again next year. We stay at the same place each year and in the huge garden where all the gites are, there are a variety of animals. The 2 ponies, Fred and Jockaboy have been there for the last 7 years and this year Poppy got to know them very well, going off to feed them each day.
As we were chatting about the animals, my husband asked Poppy if she could remember the names of the 2 ponies. She had to think quite hard (3 months is a long time for a 5 year old) and finally she came up with "Fred and erm erm.......Jockavic!
Needless to say my husband looked at me with raised eyebrows, the rest of us were :rolling: Proof that my children have been reared on tennis!
Imagine if she had called the first pony Fed :rolling:

I posted this on the happy Christmas thread but I'll post it here too http://www.10sballs.com/2011/12/30/we-wish-you-a-mardy-fishmas-and-a-happy-new-tour/
nb although I found most of it very funny, I confess that I didn't understand some bits. Does the writer think that it's Judy on the gluten free diet? (Or is she on one, and I never knew?) And I don't get the bit about Tsonga in the freezer at all. But love the bits about Andy and Jamie tussling on the stairs, and the Federer bit is hilarious.

Had to laugh this morning. I'm sitting in bed reading and can hear supergramps opening drawers and wardrobes in the small bedroom which houses his clothes. He then comes into bedroom and starts looking around, opening drawers in his bedside chest. I asked him what he was looking for to which he replied that he couldn't find his glasses. He'd searched downstairs and was now on the hunt upstairs. I looked at him and said "They're on top of your head!" And they were!!!!! Not sure I should leave him on his own when I go to DC.:rolling:
:rolling: I do that all the time !!
I've threatened to have Mr P's specs welded to his face!

This should really be in a thread entitled "What exasperated You" but it may make someone laugh. I bought my train tickets in December for February Tie at St Helens Central clearly stating my journey was from Wigan NW to Glasgow Central. Booked 1st Class with my rail card and was allocated seats. Unusual for me didn't really scrutinize the tickets beyond checking dates, times and price. On Wednesday looked carefully at them and then noticed my seat allocation on return journey was to Preston. Was a bit annoyed with myself for not noticing but decided to check before getting the train to Wigan. This is when it became quite farcical! I explained to the man behind the glass and asked it anything could be done. First of all he said "You didn't buy this here, did you?" I told him I had and he said he would try to sort it. He kept pressing keys and getting paper info from the machine for what seemed ages and then he had a Eureka moment. "I see what's happened, the machine thinks you should get off at Preston as you have 8 minutes to get a Liverpool train to St Helens." "But I don't want to get off at Preston. My first class ticket is to Wigan". "But, you can get off at Preston as your seat is allocated to Preston and the machine has worked out your connecting train." "I'm not interested in a connecting train from Preston as the train stops at Wigan and then we get a train back to here a reverse journey of what I'm doing now!" Gave up then and said that it was fine, the machine was an idiot and we walked away. A few minutes later he came up to us where we were sitting waiting for our train to Wigan. He said, quite loudly "You don't get it do you? The machine works out the best trains and times for our customers and if you get off at Preston, you can then get Liverpool train straight to here. We pride ourselves on giving customers the best information." I looked at him, was very tempted to ask him which school he'd been to and how he'd managed to get the job, but simply said "I will not be getting off at Preston." And then he had the cheek to say loudly in front of everyone. "You see love, yours is a reduced ticket." I looked at him and scathingly replied that I was using a Senior Rail Card which I pay for and the reductions were part of having the rail card. "You're not going to agree with me, are you?" He said. To which I replied "I don't agree with you or your machine" Must have hurt his feelings mentioning the machine as he stalked off. He loved that machine as he called it as it worked out the very best times for connections for the good of the passengers. Bought my tickets for April online!!:banghead::facepalm:
So are you saying that you travelled from Preston to Wigan without a ticket?

15-02-2012, 16:32
No. My ticket was booked to Wigan but my seat to Preston. The machine knows best!! I explained to a lovely man at Glasgow who picked up my case and walked with me to carriage G. My seat (to Preston) was in J. He explained these seats were unreserved so I was fine until Wigan. Funny thing is when I explained to him about the guy in St Helens and the MACHINE he said he'd never heard anything like it and it wasn't how tickets should be allocated. I sat in comparative isolated splendour being served drinks and food all the way to Wigan.
