Roland Garros 2018!

I'm planning on going next year for the first time and would love to get advice on how best to buy tickets & how it works with the different courts, how I can best guarantee I see Andy (assuming he plays!) and anything else worth knowing!

You will need to register with Roland Garros and, once you have done that, you will find all the information you require on this official site. It’s probably too early to do that yet.

I went for the first time last year with my sister, Tennisfan, and we loved it. Hoping to go again this year, I would like to go to the men’s semi finals this time - we saw the women’s and men’s final last year. Am wondering whether they will continue with the system tried for the first time last year of having to buy tickets for each semi final match.

Point to note - you need to have an up to date operating system. I didn’t and it was only thanks to a forum member who pointed this out that I was able eventually to get tickets.

There is no way that you can get tickets to see a particular person/match in the official ticket sale. It is pot luck.

Fingers crossed for your success!

You are limited to 4 main court tickets, if you are planning to do a number of days make sure you register 2 people is my first tip, would normally say try and get a few consecutive days on the main court phillipe-chatrier but we have no idea what Andy's ranking will be then so he Could easily play on Lenglen. My other tip is it is possible to buy resales at a slightly higher price due to resale fee and you can get these for most matches. I managed to get Andy's semi final this year the evening before, tickets did sell so I had to keep checking but I passed a few and waited till I got a really good cat1 ticket , 6 rows behind Andy's bench. The first five rows were all hospitality. Obviously that was a single ticket, not quite as easy to get such good seats two together, you will enjoy, it's a great place to go.

The good thing about RG is that resales on Viagogo are not allowed to be at a profit. So it can be as well to wait until you know the OOP and buy on Viagogo.

They now offer resales directly on the Roland Garros website/login, the seller gets money back but the buyer pays a small fee

I have bought a package for the last 3 years but I was very disappointed with it last year so that is a helpful tip to know. I would need to book my Eurostar ticket though as I get a 40% discount in the summer (work for a business travel company) and couldn't rely on booking last minute. Wouldn't fly to Paris either as I am not the best at flying.

Viagogo now classified as "ILLEGAL RESALE" by the Roland Garros webpage so best to use the official RG resale site I would say.

I'm thinking of going for the Men's semi finals next year

Ooh I like the sound of the resales!

Thanks so much for all the help so far everyone! :)

There is also an LTA ballot where you can specify your preferred day.

The chances of success are good as not many people know about it and it is quite difficult to find the application page on the British Tennis site.

For 2017 I was offered Men's Finals tickets although I had already managed to get Men's Finals tickets in the general sale.

Roland Garros website 2018 ticket info up now. I see they are keeping to the format of having to buy a ticket for each mens semi final, they are calling it “a la carte”! Hoping to go to both men’s semis with Tennisfan but all my allocation then used!

Thanks again for the info.
With Andy's hip surgery news and his hope of returning in time for the grass court season, I feel like saving my tennis plans for as much grass court as possible!...

Anyone have ideas of prices for early days?

themass15
07-02-2018, 17:29
The only prices so far are for packages. Tickets for Court 1 particularly on the early days are probably quite reasonable. Not sure if there is a new Court 1 this year. I haven't decided whether I'm going or not yet. Definitely not buying a package; the food was rubbish last year.

Oh I found it but I will leave it here for anyone else day 1/2 chatrier €55 lenglen €45 court 1 €40 outside courts £32 this is for round 1

I know there will be no Andy. But next year we will be away when RG is on as we were last year, plus we have some big 2020 plans so wouldn't work then either. 2021 seems an age away, so I think we will go this year even without Andy.

I haven't fully decided yet. Normally just go for the day which is just about doable from where I live. I get about 40% off Eurostar so can go in Standard Premier at a reasonable price.

From this distance we'd do two days of tennis and probably a couple of days in Paris. Looks like tickets are on sale march 21st so I guess we have time to decide 100% and confirm dates.

Me and GillyD always said we would do RG but have just never got around to it! There's always something else like DC, Wimby, Queens, WTF! And we both have to save holidays from works for holidays with our other halfs.

Luckily my other half is happy to spend the weekend after our 15 year anniversary at Roland garros rather than watching blue whales. They will wait. Looks like 3 majors for me this year. I'm a lucky swine :) With cutting down on the wtf and wimbie this year (just 2 days for both), and being certain of only one more DC this year it's a good time to go. Liv can't spend as much time in wimbie as she's saving her hols. So we will make up for it next year. I'm
Doing 2 days wimbie 2 days wtf, 2 days RG, 2 days USO and hopefully the September dc and that's my lot.

Haven't booked the euro tunnel yet but I will while it's cheap. Just working out times now we have dates. Looking for hotels too. Very exciting.

Snap! And it has to fit in with my May long weekend. One day! Or should that be un jour...

one Thing that makes it easier this year is Kev already has to be off on the Monday and we'd leave Friday night so only using one day of holiday

Missed out on Wimbledon tickets (again), so think I may return to RG this year. Considering throwing all my eggs in one basket and will try for final tickets, but we'll see how it goes once the general sale opens.

Wouldn’t let me select pictures error code came straight from the waiting page. Only wanted first two days. Hanging it out though as I may as well see what’s there.
