Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas and new year.
As you are probably aware, Andy is not playing in the Australian Open and we don't know when he will be playing again. So I was wondering how people feel about the Bubble Gap comp. Are people happy for it to continue running or would you all prefer to wait until Andy is playing again?

Let me know what you think thanks.

I don't really want to do it if Andy's not in it, unless we follow Jo (If she's fit enough). There aren't any other Brits even close to making the WTF, and I'm not anywhere near as interested in players from the rest of the world.

Personally would be happy to continue but think would need to sufficient interest for it to be viable when Andy absent. We're predicting the Bubble Gap on the ATP tour Helen.

I'd like to continue with Bubble Gap if possible. Although if Andy's not playing it's too easy to predict. If we based it on another player ranked about 8-9 that would make it much harder (and therefore more interesting). Everyone seems to like Goffin, so why not base it on him?

That's a good idea. I'm a fan of wee Goff too!

I am happy to continue. Happy to base it on another player for a while.

Perhaps we should just do the individual comp and not the team until Andy back (we now know that won't be before the summer) as likely some Team Members won't be interested (unless that proves not to be the case for many teams)

Valid point James - maybe should shelve the team comp for now? My teamie keeps forgetting to enter ....

Yup, better not a team comp.

I would still like to do this, however you decide to proceed.

I'm not up for the team comp, as I'd feel like I was letting someone down, and I've no idea whether following someone else will get me to play or not.
James, I know this has been traditionally men, but there is a women's race to for their year end comp. Like Andy, I think about both genders. Or maybe that should be all genders in the PC country ;-)

I think about both tours too (though watch more men's tennis), however don't think they will change the nature of the competition for just a short time. There haven't been many WTA comps on here (though I regularly do Pick'em for both Men and Women)

I do follow the Brit ladies and watch some matches but not really as much as the mens, so don't think I'd want to do the bubble gap for women.

I feel the same, Genbrit.

Thanks for all your comments. :)

Looks like people want it to continue so I'll start it up again with the Aus Open near the end of the week. If there are no objections the BG will be based on Goffin's ranking points but if people prefer somebody else let me know.

Also see the comments about the team comp. I'll stop that until Andy is back.

Just a thought in light of Kyle's great run, how about we folllow him until Andy comes back and/or have an added Kyle bubble gap?

Linda

As Kyle is now no.4 in the race, that is certainly a possibility!

Goffin is 154.

That's a good idea Helen. Will definitely run the next couple of BGs following Kyle and see how it goes.
