Wawrinka goes out in straight sets to the World 129 M Basic in Sophia. His knee is obviously not right yet.

Shame I was hoping Stan would end up winning the tournament. Wonder if he will play next week in Rotterdam.

I watched this match. Basic played incredibly well and took it to Stan. It was a very close match but Stan not as sharp as usual; if he had been he would have won today. I think it was more a case of Stan being rusty and not fully match-tight than his knee bothering him. His confidence may be a bit low as he played defensively at times, understandable after the lay-off.
Stan is seeded 5 in Rotterdam. I reckon he will play there. He'll want as much match practice as he can get.
Sad to see both goffin and tsonga go out in the semis of Montpellier, I really thought goffin would get this one but he lost to gasguet. Tsonga had to retire against pouille, I hope he's better soon. I'll be cheering gasguet in the final.

Surprise about Wawrinka earlier but will maybe take a little time to get back on track. Pity about Tsonga, whilst like Goffin quite happy for Gasquet.
Well Basic, the conqueror of Stan, just went and won the whole tournament today. He's very delighted, not only because he won his first ATP tournie, but he is now in the top 100, his dream apparently.
World #107 Carballes Baeno has just beaten ARV in Quito to win the title. Another new ATP title holder! This one is interesting as he will be Kyle's first opponent in BA. Will he be back to earth I wonder by the time he meets Kyle!
Pouille defeated gasguet to take the title in Montpellier :( sad for gasguet but good win for p.
.................... and the Skupskis won the doubles - well done to them! :bravo: :GBflag: A first ATP title for the brothers playing together.
