Very envious Linda, one day I too will get there. Just over the border from Italy (my favourite country) too

Have a great time!!! My husband and me are coming to MC for next year's tournament to celebrate our silver wedding and my 50th. Maybe you'll be there as well and we can meet up and cheer on Rafa together!
Have a great time Linda. Hope you will see Rafa playing great tennis. :shades: :pirate:
Glad to read this. :yahoo:

Anyone know why Cam Norrie isn’t playing in the qualies?

Heard that Dolgopolov has withdrawn so Kyle will play Seppi in the first round

When you search the match on the internet it comes up as cancelled, so I'm sure you're right.

If Edmund beats Seppi he will not face PCB who has withdrawn, there is a Lucky Loser Garcia-Lopez there instead.

I wondered which seed had withdrawn
Commies drive me nuts. I'm watching the Shapovalov v Tsitsipas match while doing my ironing and Barry Cowan and Petch have spent the whole of the first set eulogising about how good Shapovalov might become in the future and totally ignoring his opponent, who is also nineteen and has led all the way through and just taken the first set. Cowan doesn't surprise me but Petch really should know better.
I'm watching Aljaz on the red button - no commies - bliss!!

Me too!
Alis - you can find Shap, v Tsits, on the red button too without the commies
Thanks for that Jane. I wish I'd known earlier but at least I'll know for another time!
Great tussle going on now between Thiem and Rublev. 5 all in final set currently. Good tennis.
Rublev, after having had a match point in the final set, surrenders rather tamely with a double fault and handed the match to Thiem. Anti climax to what was otherwise a good match. Thiem looking very lean and mean.

Good opener between Thiem and Rublev. Not long before Kyle takes to the Court.
I am enjoying the return of Djokovic and raonic, I have missed seeing the both play. It is great to see vajda back too, he is such a nice man. I wasn’t to happy about Nishi knocking Berdy out though, I always feel like he is on the edge of something great but just can’t get there.
Didn’t catch much of Edmunds match yesterday as the skybox decided to ignore my request to record and say technical fault instead.

Good tournament so far. Linda must be having a lovely time with the gorgeous weather. Only surprise today was Gasquet beating Schwartzmnn so easily.
Had a great day today! But it's far too hot to sit on Centre for long. Had to go out during Djoko' s match as I felt quite bad.
Hope you are ok for tomorrow's session, Linda.
Sorry to hear this Linda. Hope you're OK now and it will be cooler in MC tomorrow.
Hope you saw Rafa play.

I was so mad at the crowd during Milos' match. I would guesstimate that 97% of the crowd were against Milos. Cheered his every mistake and did not cheer or clap his successful points. So weird. He was ticked too. Glad he won!
I am fine. I got an ice lolly and another bottle of water, and went back in for Djoko' s last game - which went on forever. I lost count of the match points that came and went. Saw all of Rafa's match but didn't stay for Verdasco, though I had originally intended to. Today I will go to Court 2 to watch doubles until it's time for Rafa's match.
Agh the only thing worse than milos withdrawing from the singles is that cilic then gets a walk over into the quarters. He is the jammiest player of all time, I’m not a fan so everytime he gets this lucky it just grazes a nerve for me.
The Djoko theim match is fantastic though
Well done, Dominic Thiem! He showed great resilience in coming back after losing the first set when he had served for it. Well played, young man!

Good win for Thiem, well done! Know Djokovic's been struggling of late but was finding better form here-requiring 10 mp's against Coric though may not have been great for confidence. Nishikori taken to a decider after bagellng Seppi but takes it 6-3. Gasquet beat Micha Zverev in straights but Sacha needed 3 to get past Kohli.
Happy for Richard Gasquet to have won his 500th match today - great achievement. :)
Think he has a chance tomorrow of beating Sascha who seems to have lost his way and was not impressive today. Interesting that the commentators think either Lendl or Santoro should be taken into his team.

What happened to Thiem today? Did he implode or was Rafa just too good?

Rafa was way too good but Thiem had nothing to offer. Perhaps his match against Djokovic took a lot out of him

Kei made heavy work of Cilic, what will he have in the tank for tomorrow?
Hard lines for Goffin. His doubles partner beats him in the singles and then immediately withdraws from the doubles!
I wonder if Goffin would have done that if he’d won?!
I wonder if Goffin would have done that if he’d won?!
We'll never know.
A great match between Gasquet and Zverev. I really didn't mind who won - probably would have preferred Gasquet but it is Sascha's 21st birthday today, so well done to him. Richard ran out of steam in the last few games - looked as though he was carrying a groin injury towards the end - so maybe just as well that it is Sascha playing Nishikori tomorrow.

Certainly enthralling contest to finish play as Sacha finally beat Richie 7-5 in the 3rd, whilst certainly gutsy at times Zverev not finding best form. Remains to be seen if he do it again again against Kei, good win for Dimi but can't see him doing too much against Rafa. Didn't see Nadal's match but no matter how well he played disappointing Thiem made so little impact.
Absolutely - maybe Dom just didn't have anything left in the tank after defeating Djoko.
It was an unfortunate draw for Dom to come up against Djoko followed by Rafa! That's a big ask for anyone to have to face those 2 in consecutive matches. Enjoyed the Zverev-Gasquet match, didn't expect such a close encounter.
Yesss - well done Kei. So good to see him back playing well after all the bad luck with injuries.

Another entertaining contest but Kei the stronger in the end with more variety, a few unfortunate errors from Sacha and think week had taken its toll. Dimi competed well with Rafa in the first but was not in hunt afterwards, a tough assignment for Nishikori though he has obviously regained form.

Wow Rafa makes it look so easy! Poor Kei. He looked totally flummoxed in that second set. ELEVEN titles on Monte Carlo clay for oor Rafa! Very happy for him! :knight::boogie::thumbup::bravo::jitterbug::cheer: :swingin::pirate::surfing:
Congratulations to Rafa on his brilliant week in Monte Carlo and winning his 11th title. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :trophy:
Commiserations to poor Kei and it's really good to see him back playing well.

Well done Nadal on winning 11th Monte Carlo title, in great form. However disappointing it wasn't a more competitive final though much as I expected, certainly some other matches were far more entertaining. Kei done well to reach final though.
Anyone winning anything for the 11th time can't be described as anything other than deathly dull.
Much as I expected too but a disappointing end to the tournament. Taking nothing away from Rafa - he obviously deserved to win - but there were other matches this week that were far more entertaining. I would have felt hard done by if I had had a ticket for the final today.

You wouldn't be saying that if it was Andy now would you? ;) ... we should be so lucky
You know what? I probably would.
