Re Eastbourne - can anyone tell me when the men’s Draw is made? Just wondering when Andy would have to decide if he was playing. Thanks.
According to Castle, Andy's been secretly playing at Oxshott tennis club. So, he could turn up.
Stan accepts a wild card into Eastbourne.

And now Andy accepts a wild card for Eastbourne!

Excellent! Back when I booked tickets I had a sneaking suspicion that Andy might show up at Eastbourne if he was playing the grass season. Now have to hope he plays Monday :peace:

Delighted Andy is playing. It must mean his body reacted well to the match at Queens. Hope you get to see him RB

Couldn't believe it when I saw it. The worst possible draw!
Oh that is so so sad, for Andy, Stan and for the tournament. He really wants to play himself in gradually not having to struggle through long gruelling sessions. So unlucky but that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes!

Great news, not the draw, that Andy is playing. Was really hoping he would, have to take this as a real positive sign that his body felt good after his Queen's match :grass2: is a wonderful thing!
Enjoy Rosie! and anyone else lucky enough to get tickets!

FGS - I don't believe it! Better keep my mouth shut in future!!
But goes to show - there are no 'easy' routes back for Andy.
Rats. Stan has had longer to get back into the swing of it.

Obviously not ideal, but Stan isn't the force on grass that he is on other surfaces whereas Andy grass court master. Tough, but doable. Go on Andy!
I went out and arrived home to find Andy plays Stan in the first round.

Having seen Andy at Queens not so confident at all and a tough loss could mean Andy withdraws from Wimbledon. Whilst showing many good things, Andy was way down on normal level at Queens which isn't surprising for his first match in 342 days, don't be taken in by the score, Nick was far superior when he wanted to be

Agree, I thought Nick gave Andy quite a few points.

Can't say I quite agree and I did see Andy's match even if not live, obviously Andy was not near top form and was not expecting him to beat Kygrios- however was still relatively close in the end (even if Nick was inconsistent) Obviously Stan could hand Andy another defeat but has not had a great record since his return so far and believe Andy likely to improve as his comeback progresses (also more natural grass court player though may not be dominant factor in this encounter). I feel a 2nd consecutive loss would not in itself cause Andy to miss Wimbledon, though may make that decision if he does not feel ready.

Awful draw. Just wish he could have eased himself in these tournaments. Oh well. good luck Andy. I'm hoping he can win. :knight:

I'm just really looking forward to watching another Andy match and Andy might also play a lot more energetically from the start. He knows his energy levels may not last as long as he wants and he might just go for the throat from the start (in a nice way)!
:knight:
Having given this some thought I am not so sure it is all doom and gloom. Ok, it's tough, but Stan himself is def not anywhere near where he was. Having seen how good Andy was vs Nick, I think Andy has a really good fighting chance of coming through this. It should certainly be a more straightforward affair than the match with Nick in that Stan is not given to histrionics or all the baggage that comes with Nick. (I do like Nick btw). It will be the battle between the injury returnees and already I'm fascinated and I can't wait!
He has a much better grass court game than Stan.
Certainly he has. Stan is best on clay and on hard courts.
Whatever happens in the match on Monday I hope Andy will not rush to Wimbledon but take as much time as he needs to get 100% fit for one last glorious finish to his career. If he does decide to miss Wimbledon this year, while disappointing that we will not see him there, it is important to look at the bigger picture. I would really love to see Andy finish his career with some really great achievement perhaps Wimbledon next year.
Andy has already done more for British tennis than we ever dreamt of when he won the US Open junior boys title. It is very impressive that all his achievements have been in an era of tennis dominated by Roger, Rafa and Novak. He has done his country proud and for that I thank him. It has not been an easy road for him with many bitter disappointments to overcome on the way.

So is it confirmed he is playing the first round on the Monday?
The WTA part of Eastbourne is being covered by both the BBC and Eurosport. Looks like Amazon Prime are covering the men's.
This page on the ATP website seems to indicate the BBC are covering Eastbourne ATP. Radio Times and BBC website just says WTA Tennis. https://www.atpworldtour.com/en/tournaments/tv-schedule

Pretty sure Amazon have the exclusive rights to ATP Eastbourne, so can't see how it will be shown on a TV channel. The TV listings state WTA for Eastbourne on both BBC and Eurosport, this site says gives info on tennis coverage. https://uktennistv.wordpress.com/ Excerpt "Amazon Prime Video are the rights holders for the ATP matches. The BBC don’t have the rights to televise men’s matches here but will have some radio commentary on Radio 5 Live or Sports Extra. Eurosport had ATP rights up to last year, but lost them along with Queen’s".
Andy vs Stan not before 4pm tomorrow according to Stu Fraser. Enjoy and cheer loudly all you lucky folks who can go!

Jay Clarke (236), the lucky loser has just dispatched Ryan Harrison ranked 58 in straight sets. He gets Cameron or Brands next. Excellent use of Lucky Loser spot.

Well done Ken and Neal! -an interesting final if a bit unexpected! See Mischa Zverev had comfortable win over Shapovalov 6-3, 6-3, Cecchinato in semis though beating Millman 6-2 in 3rd.

Kyle had bp but unable to take advantage, not quite hit the heights yet- 4 all. Now broken-didn't serve so well and Kukushkin moving him around forced error, come on!
Kyle's first serve has been left in the locker room I think.
Broken

Not maintaining momentum as I'd hoped, Kyle down break in 2nd at 2-3 and now into 3rd with 2nd service lost- come on!
 Kyle saves SP1 with an ace, then serves a DF on SP2.
Come on Kyle!
JAMES4578
28-06-2018, 17:26
Certainly not firing on all cylinders, hopefully kyle can raise game!
really surprised to see this is still going on, i'd though Kyle wd romp thru this in no time flat - ooops!
Far too many UEs - I wonder if it's in part a reaction to yesterday's match with Andy?

JAMES4578
28-06-2018, 17:39
Might have have difficult to play with same freedom but expected more from Kyle today, sure a lot to do with yesterday's big win mind you-seems a bit flat. Now Kyle broken in 3rd to go 2-0 down, really needs to dig deep!
Rosalind
28-06-2018, 17:41
are the crowd asleep? someone wake them up to cheer Kyle on!
What on Earth has happened? Is Kyle injured?
JAMES4578
28-06-2018, 17:59
Kyle annoyed by judgement on call in the 2-0 game and got referee involved to no avail, match surely over for him now at 5-1.

JAMES4578
28-06-2018, 18:04
certainly frustrating, btw no injury his game just fell away. However hopefully Kyle cam move on, think of the good performance against Andy and focus on Wimbledon. Yes I'd say he was fairly flat most of the match -even if he rallied to win 1st. At the end also seemed to lose focus.

I don't think so. He saved set point in first set and went on to win it - flying. Then just dropped off - yes flat after that. The other guy played well though but Kyle made too many mistakes.
Yes too many errors. I haven't looked at stats, but I don't think his first serve was up to its usual standard either.
JAMES4578
28-06-2018, 18:17
Kyle's first serve was 56% compared to Kukushkin's 71 , whilst stats similar on 1st -Kyle won 47% on 2nd serves compared to opponent's 52%. Against Andy only a bit higher at 61% but won 82% on 1st serve and 50% on 2nd. Today it was 67%. on the 1st.
