Russell Fuller reckoned the match might be at about 4pm. But the way they got through the matches, yesterday, I would think it might be a bit earlier.

Doing all I can to see this one live. Just want to see Andy moving well with the potential to regain his place at the top of the game.
Come on Andy!

I am so jealous of all the people who can be there. My teaching contracts preclude just taking day off most of the time.
I know you will be cheering for all of us. Let's hope this is the start of the end of the recovery.

I'm Glad that Andy is playing his good friend Nick. I've always liked Nick & I'm sure that he will treat Andy with respect And if things don't go well for Andy, he will not "rub his nose In it" like Fed or Querry would. Hope Andy plays well. I'm very excited-I've so missed Andy.:excited:

I'm travelling so will miss it but all the very best to Andy. Obviously would love him to win but most importantly just want him to be physically good and get match practice. Anybody who will be there, shout your lungs out for us who can't be there. Will try to watch live scores in the airport

I hope Bardot turns up for Andy's return :peace: - an integral part of Andy's matches that I've missed nearly as much as Andy himself.....c'mon B :peace:
The day has finally come :cheer:
Not expecting much , but just so glad hes back out there , I have really missed watching him !!!!
Not long now; think Djokovic will sew his match up pretty quickly. No expectations, just hope Andy gets the reception he deserves and that he finishes the match, win or lose, with a smile on his face and no injuries! x!

I don't often say this but "come on Novak!!" - get this over quickly.
He's back.
Federers playing, so probably won't get Andy on over here until he's finished or will keep swopping between matches, ugh!!! Have to hope I can get a stream. Even more frustrating as have Amazon prime but still can't get Tennis stream on that over here yet!!!! Anyway, still ecstatic that Andy's back. :)

Andy takes the service game t0 30. Some nice tennis there, Andy moving around very well.
Shed a few tears when he came out! Then a workman replacing gas pipes along the drive I live on knocked on the door, and after a few choice words about his timing, departed!
Unbelievable!! I was keeping an eye on Jo Konta's match, when Castle had to mention Dan Evans's ban yet again!! Andy's playing!

Absolutely, Westie. Whatever he says, deep down Andy's not there to make up the numbers - and why not because while he might not get the win today, he's looking fantastic given the context. Go on Andy!

The beauty of playing Nick at Queens first match back is that our well-known silly commentator is at least fixated on him and not Andy! C'mon Andy and hello everybody again! :)
I know a lot of people don’t like Nick, but the one thing I was certain of is that Nick wouldn’t humiliate AM, eve. If he could. He has too much respect for him.
RosieBear
19-06-2018, 15:41
I think this is a really tough match for Nick and not just physically. He's great mates with Andy, really appreciated Andy's support during tough moments, now finding it hard to be ruthless, take advantage and get first win over Andy.
I think it's difficult for Nick being a good friend of Andy's and he does respect Andy. But absolutely loving what Andy is doing. He certainly hasn't lost his competitive instinct.

19-06-2018, 15:42

That was one of my scenarios. It’s why I wasn’t disappointed when he drew Nick.
I, vaguely, remember Krygios got fined once for 'not playing'. As he practically threw away the match. What must Hewitt be thinking?
Anna, you and I were having the same thought at the same time! Sorry if it looks like I repeated you!

Completely agree. I'm not sure a two or three match run here on consecutive days would have been in his best interest. I/m just really, really pleased that he moved so well and played so brilliantly. I'm well chuffed.

Absolutely! What a great match, I'm really excited fir his comeback now. Was always the fear he'd be thrashed in his comeback match putting doubts in his head. Could see it all coming back, providing the match doesn't set him back fitness wise I think a few more events and hopefully kind draws and he'll be on the way back. A great match for Andy to see where he is at and test everything out.
Absolutely over the moon with that match play from Andy, a lot, lot better than I ever hoped for & great to see he still has the hunger for the game. One step at a time Andy, just one step!!! Sheer joy just to see him walk on the green, green, grass!!
Kyrgios’s comment in his interview
Commentator - “It must be nice to beat Andy at last?”
Kyrgios- “I don’t count that as a win”.
i.e. Beating Andy in his first full match for almost a year, isn’t really something I am going to boast about. I normally delete matches he loses immediately. I shall keep this one.

That was so close.
Great to feel those butterflies in anticipation again.
Love seeing him play - he looks good - really hopeful for the future for him!

As long as he wakes up ok in the morning, I'll be happy. It was almost like he hadn't been away, I was straight back into Murraymaniac mode with holding my breath, fist pumping, grimacing, the full lot!
Me too -fist pumping and shouting and clapping.
Most of all - proud.
I know Nick can be a naughty lad but his heart is in the right place. I remember him several years ago giving generously to one of Andy's charities - was it Elena's? His comment is so unlike Querry's when he 'beat' Andy at last year's Wimbledon and spoke as if he had done it when he was in peak condition.

I agree, I have never quite forgiven Querry saying there wasn’t much wrong with Andy - he only hobbled between pints!! He was only then out for a year!

Shame Andy lost but I expect this and also score line was much better than I expect. I didn’t see match cos at work but from score line he seem done very well for proper first match.

Catching up after arriving at the airport. Never had any expectations so pretty pleased for Andy. Hope the body holds up overnight. Will watch the replay tomorrow
What a heartening match. Andy may not be match tight but my goodness he hasn't lost any of his phenomenal skill and instincts. All he needs is court time. He looked pretty fit.
It's all been said already but I couldn't believe how he seemed to slot back into his old ways (good ones) as if he had never been away. That was all I was hoping for and more. So happy and relieved to see him lasting out 3 hard sets and I hope that he doesn't feel too sore tomorrow morning. I thought the Queens crowd were great and so supportive of him and I loved Angie's banner!
I've only glanced at the last couple of pages of this thread, but like everyone I'm so pleased Andy made a real match of it - and almost won! So much more than we might have expected. Hope he recovers well and is encouraged with how it went.
Oh my, some of those shots!!!!
Welcome back Andy!

Like everyone else just very very pleased how well Andy was moving and to see his brilliant shot making in action again. Fabuloius performance so now looking forward to Wimbledon.
Well done to Kyle too though Andy was an impossible act to follow!

I've never forgiven him either!

What a pleasure to see Andy again (though had to see the last four games later). Similar thoughts to many here and hope he wakes up not too stiff. In the long term I think it was good he played a third set as although a bit of fatigue set in, there were some shots and rallies where Andy held back less than in the first two sets as his competitive nature overcame any initial caution.
Well done Andy! :)
For a first match back, I thought he did extremely well. He's claimed that he might play in Eastbourne, but it would depend on how he feels.

It was a very odd sensation to have thoroughly enjoyed watching Andy lose
Exactly, WW, he played better than any of us could have expected after a year away so seeing him like that was enough for me......he’ll need to break himself in gently(??!!)

I'm late with this as I have been avoiding all media having only just managed to watch Kyle.
I was more than pleased with Andy - I thought a solid 6-4, 6-4 would have been ok. In the end I was hoping for a win because he played so well. Optimistic for the future now. Really good to see.

Just started watching the replay. What a lovely welcome everybody gave Andy. Even though I know the result, so excited to see him playing again :cheer:

It's all been said but what a wonderful feeling being part of that centre court, all on their feet and cheering as Andy walked back on court, and clapping and cheering for some time. A real welcome home !!
And so proud to see the fierce determination and the fist pumps in that final set when weariness was setting in.
Oh how we've missed him. Oh how great to see he will be around for a while yet

Bit late on commenting but have been away, though unfortunately not one of those there for Andy's return. Anyway managed to see the match and fabulous to see Andy back and certainly not lost any of the competitive edge, played pretty well for most part considering the nature of the opposition in first competitive outing for some time. Just pity could not found way in 2nd but once Kygrios turned it on became problematic. Sure the match fitness will come but is going to take a bit of time, of course don't know how he would be over 5 mind you. Speculation that Wimbledon participation is not a certainty but not sure how accurate the information is, in any case Andy best placed to decide with team on best course of action.

The way that Nick has played this week puts Andy's performance in an even better light. Nick is the ultimate hot/cold player but he's on a hot streak this week, so well done Andy for pushing him all the way
