Ok folks, now I know I have tickets .... stick your names ( and any plus ones etc) on this thread for anyone wishing to come to a forum meal on the Saturday night . I'll check numbers July 8th and use this figure to investigate / book venue that week. Thinking Di Maggios as first choice, PizzacExpress second, if I have to go to a third then it's as well I'm off that week!

Hi folks.
Di Maggios Royal Exchange Square is booked for 8:15 on Davis Cup Saturday. They asked for this time as it means we have our area for rest of the night. For those who came to last Glasgow meal it is the area downstairs so we should have it to ourselves, menu above. The first person I spoke to mentioned pre ordering meals but when I phoned to make the booking nothing was mentioned other than a request to pay deposit by August 20th- I shall write that firmly on my calendar. So hopefully we can just choose on the night.

Cost is £18.95 for 3 courses.

See you all in September .

Ps won't be online much next 2 weeks as off on a cruise so apologies if anyone has any questions and didn't get an answer. I will get back to you eventually.

exislander
23-07-2018, 13:47
Would pre ordering meals mean the service could be quicker? I am just thinking 8.15 for this number of people to start choosing and ordering meals could take quite some time?

WimbledonWestie
23-07-2018, 15:30
Not sure, will see what they say when I'm paying deposit. From my point of view it's a lot of people to collate orders for - plus people sometimes like to see what they feel like on the night not 2 weeks before. My experience is they are usually pretty efficient. Appreciate what you say re time- originally asked fir 7:30 but they asked to make I this time so they could leave us there all night. And saves any worries if it's a 5 hr doubles thriller lol.

We done it last twice no problems whatsoever. Up to Clare but personally I wouldn't. Folk forget what they ordered/change their mind's etc etc.its more hassle than it's worth. Been in di maggios many a time and they are indeed quick and efficient

Have to say pizza express in Newcastle wanting orders in advance was a right pain in the behind. Nothing but hassle and it didn’t make things any smoother or faster on the night. If I did it again I might look for a place that doesn’t ask for choices in advance, especially as they might then change the blinking menu! Nightmare lol. Thanks for your hard work Clare :)

Sorry if this is a silly question but do you know if there is a two course price? Kev doesn’t eat desserts, he doesn’t like sweet things or chocolate (I know he’s weird), and I’m on a ban due to previous bad behaviour lol

WimbledonWestie
25-07-2018, 21:53
The first person I spoke to mentioned it so I’m sure they wd sort something-think it was £3 of a difference. We can check if they do diff price for folk only wanting 2 courses- decided next t to ask any more questions when booking as I’d nade 3 phone calls that morning , spoke to different people each time-the last o e had to keep going checking everything with a manager so decided to put her out her misery lol

JerryD
25-07-2018, 22:18
I couldn’t remember from last time, Brain is mush right now lol. Kev wouldn’t have got one but that doesn’t mean I didn’t pick one for him and eat it as well as mine lol. That will be a reason for the dessert break lol.

Linda
26-07-2018, 07:26
I don't normally eat desserts as I don't have a sweet tooth either, so I'd be interested in a two course option if available.

They phoned me while I was travelling to the tennis to ask iif it was ok if we were upstairs. The train was really noisy so it was hard to hear so decided not to prolong the conversation beyond ascertaining that we would still all be together . I'd spoken them on the Thursday so it was very last minute- so must have been a good reason.
