Copying over the posts from the old forum - first batch!
Off to Tannadice this afternoon, really needing a home win for the boys!!
C'mon you PARS !! :D
Utter rubbish!!! :x
Nice wee trip to Rugby Park today for me against Hearts. Going to be tough but hoping for a positive result :!:
Unless Sion get thrown out by UEFA, all of the Scottish sides out of Europe by the end of August.
Its getting serious mate. I knew we'd lose although still can't believe it was by quite as much last week, but really thought the terrible twins would both manage to beat their respective opposition.
On a positive note, even allowing for the weakened opposition, there are lots of good bits about Hearts play tonight.
Phew.
Good win for Liverpool today. New signings Henderson and Adam on the scoresheet.
Top of the table. :bounce:

Will that affect the number of Scottish sides in European competitions - the coefficient and all that?
Absolutely. The money seems to be on Celtic being reinstated though.
i wouldn't complain if we got in through the back door, certainly an interesting group with athletico & udinese in there
tho to be honest i dont see it happening im expecting sion to get a hefty fine
Depressing yesterday up at Inverness for Killie. Didn't go up and not really heard much in the way of reports but sounds like we deserved a point. If only football matches were 88 minutes long :(
Manchester 13-3 North London
SION have just been kicked out of the Europa League.
SFA officials have confirmed they'll be replaced by Rangers.

Enjoyable Benfica - Man U match tonight and I loved taking my nine-year-old. Bought him a match scarf with the names of both teams on it and left it up to him to work out whether his Portuguese half was stronger than his British half tonight..... sounded more Benfica-ish and frankly Man U should be happy to get away with a draw. Incredible how Rooney did virtually nothing! Great to see Giggs's goal as a homage to the great man!

Another batch of posts from the temporary forum
Interesting that Man U played almost a reserve side, choosing to save themselves for Chelsea at the weekend.
Due to cash-flow problems at Ibrox, the traditional coin toss will be replaced at this Sunday’s Old Firm game by rock-paper-scissors.
Interesting that Man U played almost a reserve side, choosing to save themselves for Chelsea at the weekend.
I think I read there were eight in the line-up who had started the Champions League final - shows how quickly the "new" Man U has bedded in. Good strategy for Sir Alex in the end but he came very close to a defeat.
Looking forward to Man U - Chelsea to try and get some more ideas on whether the two Manchester sides are going to run away with it this season or whether Chelsea can finally become a bit more creative with their new signings.

It was over before tonight anyway. We shouldn't have had to go and play the world champions at their ground needing a win!!
Great save from McGregor (even though his ban should never have been lifted) - why could he not have done that at the goal?
2-0 in both games. Means I won't spend a fortune next summer at least!
Why are people interested in how Lithuania is doing?
Because if Lithuania beat the Czechs, Scotland wouldn't have to beat Spain.
Academic now.
Scotland have to match the Czech Republic result to get to the play-offs so a Lithuania (against Czechs) win would have been helpful.

11-10-2011, 22:36
We messed up against Lithuania and the Czechs. A dodgy ref in the home game against the Czechs ended our dream. Getting points against Spain was never terribly likely. They are the Euro and World Champions for a reason. So gutted

The same could be said about the dodgy team selection in the away game against the Czechs!
And if we can only beat Liechtenstein by one goal each time, who exactly would you have liked to have played in the play-offs!
Until we have better attacking options than Kenny Miller and Tom Daley then its probably easier on the nerves to miss out.
We finished at our seeding, so things could have been worse. IMO we have a group for the WC that not only do we have a chance of finishing second, all of the teams are so similar in quality that we could finish anywhere between 1st and 5th! This will be the real test for Levein.
the dynamic duo should have been booted after the Czech game, how can anyone claim there tactics where spot on up to the point they where undone

Neil Lennon was visited by God who said: "Come forth, my son."
Lenny replied: "Fourth? With these players, I'll be lucky to finish fifth!"
All of a sudden, Mad Vlad doesn't seem such a bad owner any more. Not good but could be worse!
Just hope some of us can stay close enough for the seemingly inevitable administration penalty!

Um, have you been reading the book club thread, Vixs? If you have, and if you've read the selected book, you'll find at least one suggestion as to why a football team might not be performing well!

Our midfield is a lot weaker since losing Gomis and Buaben and we knew we would miss Goodie but he is putting Russell (supposed to be Goodie's replacement) on the wing and he is not a midfielder!!! Some players should be dropped as they are not playing well but he keeps playing them. Making subs too late/not at all or totally wrong. Just not good enough!
Nothing went for us tonight, can't really blame Houston for that, Armstrong should have been on sooner though.

All joking apart, i'm not going to get too wound up about anything Hearts-related until mad Vlad is gone and we find our real (hopefully top 6) sustainable position.
Can't be doing with all the sideshows associated with the club just now, but the fact is that the club would probably have gone under without his initial investment.

Sympathy for all these overpaid Prima Donnas will never come from me. Watching El Clasico on Saturday made me almost embarrassed to be a football fan. This is why I am more focused on Kilmarnock now as, no matter what you think of the team, at least you know they are giving it their all
Pleased to see City losing their unbeaten record. Hate when any team buys its way to success - eg Souness' Rangers and Abramovich at Chelsea. All big teams spend money but when you think you can just go out and buy a whole new team within 12 to 18 months it makes a mockery of the whole idea.

Personally, if there is a shred of evidence which suggests such language then this needs to be clamped down on as it needs to act as a deterrent. That's why JT needs to get an equally severe, if not tougher penalty.

The whole Suarez witch hunt is very unnecessary in my opinion. Branding him a racist is an insult to the cruel acts of racism which go on in certain parts of the world. I believe he has been very harshly treated but I also believe Liverpool will appeal and in the end the FA are going to look very silly. I had to laugh where it said in the report they produced which stated "Evra was a credible witness." I agree with that AllyB said, basically taking Evra's word for it. Ridiculous.
As for JT, he is english and the national team captain. They have a major tournament in the summer, he will get a slap on the wrist and it will be forgotten about. FA won't touch that issue. Standards eh?

Don't think it's a witch hunt to be honest. Reading between the lines it seems that Suarez has done himself any favours in giving his evidence. Dalglish has made a total prat of himself with that t-shirt he wore and I don't think the appeal will lead to a positive outcome so they should just let it stand.

He was just defending one of his players against a charge which the club not just Kenny believes to be totally unfair, a charge which happens to be racism.

I think so too Jay. I still can't believe (and the report confirms it) that the FA have issued such a lengthy ban based simply on who seems most credible and not any hard evidence. I don't even take sides between my kids unless i've actually seen the argument or fight actually take place.

I don't for a minute think that but I think there are better ways to show your support that's all.
Glad they have accepted the punishment, means we can all move on. He was a silly, naive boy and he should learn from it.
It's not as black and white as you make out, which makes me suspicious about your knowledge or research into the word which Suarez used transcultural meaning back home in Uruguay. Try reading between the lines mate, and don't believe everything the media says.

Bitter much?
With regard to the clubs statement.
Rightly so IMO. Everybody in Uruaguay knows he is innocent as do those close to Luis, and the people who know the ins and outs of this case.
As for Evra, make you're mind up about his part in all this after viewing this (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2082325/Patrice-Evra-N-word-video-youtube.html)
Evra told the panel at the hearing that he didn't tell the ref he was called the n-word during the game because he "didn't like to even say that word". Clearly that vid above shows otherwise. "Credible witness" eh ... laughable . Tell me that there was no agenda here lads?

I think so too Jay. I still can't believe (and the report confirms it) that the FA have issued such a lengthy ban based simply on who seems most credible and not any hard evidence. I don't even take sides between my kids unless i've actually seen the argument or fight actually take place.
FA (Fergies Association) to be expected mate.

I have some knowledge of the cultural significance behind the word and I know he is not a racist, but there are very few people who know the ins and outs of the matter, a handful if you are lucky.
Evra is no angel, of that there is no doubt and there is definitely something going with him, but the report backs him up and therefore we need to let it go.
What Dalglish is doing, coming out EVERY day is not doing himself or the club any favours and he needs to shut his mouth!!!

What has happened? Again you are making an assumption here. There was no arrests made last night so we don't know what exactly has happened. If what is alleged to have been said is proven to have occurred then the idiot will be dealt with the club and police sufficiently. Hopefully banned for life.
Self righteous indignation? Oh come on now Jay, seriously? You just sound very bitter to me. I seem to recall from the last forum you had various pops at Liverpool and Man UTD, so I guess you still have an agenda here. Silly chip on the shoulder talk Jay. And for your information Suarez is not a racist, you are an intelligent man Jay..... but branding Suarez a racist is an absolute insult to the cruel forms of racism which go on in various parts of the world.
DAVID I HAVE SAID ON MANY OCCASION I CANST STAND LIVERPOOL SO NO HIDDEN AGENDA THERE( I DONT MIND MANCHESTER THAT MUCH) AND YES SUAREZ IS "only" guilty of racism light, but that my point if he and the club came straight out and said fair cop its a difference of culture we are now educating oor player/players and will not accept any form of racism. then this would be over. but instead they have milked it for all its worth to sell their hard done byness( my own word ;))and build this seige mentallity
I'd listen to him David, Celtic supporters are experts in this regard!

Take a step back David. Then take another one.
My late mother taught me to love sports which is why I suppose I am on this site. She was a Liverpool supporter and I have always had a soft spot, and respect, for Liverpool and what it represents, in terms of footballing decency.
I am British having lived in Portugal for many years. In my first teaching year here I went to see Liverpool play Benfica in the semi final of the European Cup. I had a lot of friendly banter with my students before hand and they reluctantly congratulated me on the win for the team from my country. Liverpool went through to the final. It was their penultimate game in Europe for years to come but we did not know that at the time.
The next match was Heysel. I cried and was thoroughly ashamed of being British and liking sports. It was one of the worst moments of being British and being abroad.
It is such a pity that the Juarez incident involved a Manchester United player. This longstanding rivalry has complicated views on this issue, and still does. AFAIK, the man from Aintree charged by police yesterday for his racist remarks has nothing to do with Manchester United.
Take a couple of steps back David. You will know there are two permanent memorials at Anfield. One for Heysel and one for Hillsborough. Liverpool are once again a respected team in the world. But it took years after Heysel for this to happen. I really hope Liverpool and its supporters can see the bigger picture and realise that the world outside is not seeing a Manchester United conspiracy theory but a proud club in danger of not moving on from an unfortunate incident and risking compromising its refound respect.
Move on. For the sake of your own club.

Carroll gets a lot of stick but I have faith he will become a monstrous player for us. If it weren't for some incredible saves he could have easily had more goals this season. He has been on the bench many times so it's unfair to judge him solely on his goals scored. He did score a cracker against Oldham the other day, and played well against City last night. People forget he has only just turned 23 years old. Wouldn't write him off yet, he will come good believe me.

He's an easy target for criticism. Not his fault he has such a massive price tag on his head. Don't think he is particularly suited to the style of play either.
Mean nothing by it having a wee laugh at his expense

Agreed, lot of pressure. Good point about our style of play, I think it will take time for Andy to become accustom to the way we play.
Absolutely mate, I love a bit of banter myself and I had a wee giggle at Ally's post as well. Was funny.

Like Chris i just thought the joke was funny.
I like Carroll and can honestly say that since the 31st Jan last year I haven't stopped believing that Liverpool did good business getting him in. He may not have done as well as I expected but as you say he is young and his time will come. Torres, however, while showing his class occasionally still shows no sign of regaining his pre-2010 form!
hard one for me as people will assume its my normal scouse beeting, but sorry £35 million quid for a player who hadnt proved him self way to much money and yes you can say he is only 23 but the great player have proven them self by that age

I agree we paid too much but in the future other teams will also pay offer the odds for players, especially English players. Just being english adds another 10-15 million to their valuation it seems.

Could be worse. You could have paid £50m for a hopelessly out of form Spaniard in the hope that he'd rediscover his mojo!

Yea exactly, we did great to get 50 million for him. Madness from Chelsea to pay that amount for him, in his list 12 months Liverpool he was not playing great and always injured which made it even stranger.
It's a shame he hasn't rediscovered his form as during his first 2 seasons at Liverpool he was world class, and the best striker in Europe.
Ultimately I think injuries have taken their toll.
No pressure then :)Looks like you're safe! :big grin:
