Plenty of big names making an early exit in Shanghai. Probably most surprisingly Cilic and Thiem, also Schwartzman, Sock, Raonic, PCB, Wawrinka, Shapovalov and controversially (again) Kyrgios.

Certainly a few upsets, particularly disappointed Thiem went down to Ebden in the end but tight one. Shapovalov was thrashed 6-2,6-2 by Beijing champion Basilashvili who goes on to face 4th seed Sacha Zverev.

Fed and RBA currently a set all. Crowd support for Fed overwhelming and very very loud.

It was a tough one for Fed but he got through 6-4 in 3rd, Delpo retired after losing first 7-5 to Coric. Djokovic had easy 6-4,6-0 win over Cecchinato, bit of a contrast from their meeting at the French.

Sorry to see that as a result of a nasty fall Delpo had to retire with his knee bendaged up. Hope he is OK.

Such a shame after all the injuries he's suffered and the good season he is enjoying.

Feel for him :sad::sad:

And after he battled through a virus to reach the final last week and through a 3 setter in his first match here :sad:

After he lost to him last year (during his struggles) I knew Novak would be out to send Sascha a message today...but oooft, 6-2 6-1 is some beatdown. Well played Nole :clap:

Scarily good. Greg Rusedski doesn't think Djokovic will lose another match this year. Could be WTF Final is over in a flash and all the other matches he plays in.

Well done Novak. :cheer: :cheer:

I wish I had seen this match. It's really unbelievable when one thinks of how he started the year.

Djokovic certainly in devastating form, not match hoping for though -figured Sacha would have a bit more impact. Federer though had his hands full with Coric and could not respond, the Croatian through in straights 6-4,6-4.

As expected Djokovic took the Shanghai Masters though Coric made it a bit more competitive than the semi, Nole winning 6-3,6-4.

Novak back to his best. I wish Andy had been able to recover from his injury as well and as quickly; totally different injury - and much more serious -I know, but it grieves me to see Andy working so hard to make it back. Life is a *****. x

It might take longer.... but he might still get back up there. Here's hoping.
