Anyone want to see James Ward in action this week on home soil?
;)

Loughborough has some good transport links and *shock/horror* there is even livescoreboard. (http://www.protennislive.com/framesetperpc.asp?lang=en&ref=www.atpworldtour.com)

Womens Draws - qualifying, singles and doubles

This is combined Mens/Ladies event - an ATP Challenger and ITF Ladies 10k. So there is chance to see a load of guys from the 100-400 rankings and some upcoming British players in both the ladies and mens events. I understand there are limited spectator facilities but it's likely to be free to watch; take a 'picnic' just in case!

On the mens side there are 21 Brits in Qualifying (out of 28 player with 4 Byes) and James Ward at 8th seed with 4 British Wildcards in the Main draw (Cox, Golding, Evans and Goodall).

And if you live near Hull there's also a British Tour event at Nuffield Tennis Academy.

I thought about heading down, but it's 125miles up there. A little too much for me. Plus, like you said, there is not much space to view.

I'm not even sure what viewing space there is ... was going to phone the venue to check.
Having been to a few GB indoor events there's possible a walkway with some chairs dotted around and or it's all at ground level with chairs around the court edges. Highly unlikely to be any stands and if there's any catering it'll be the club coffee shop with basic provisions.

But it's indoors, a reasonable bunch of players and I'm very tempted to go ...

The lads don't get much for their efforts - especially in the qualifying rounds.
0 money and they get 3 points if they actually qualify -

QUALIFYING DRAW - GBR unless stated.

James Ward plays his first round match today in Loughborough against Torebko of Germany (not encountered that name before!). Also in action are Delgado/Marray and various other Brits in the doubles. The girls are playing their R1 matches during the first part of the day so there are only 3 x R1 Mens singles and 6 x R2 Mens doubles.

Oli had a career best win today over Marrai.
Served 19 aces and only lost 1 point on first serve.:)

Just seen this a little late. Didn't realise this was on less than a couple of miles from where I live. I go within 100 yards of the tennis centre every day on my way to work. Oh well may have to look out for this another year. Guess they don't get may spectators though.
