View Full Version : *** Bubble Gap - Paris *** - deadline: Monday 7th 10am

Everyone ready for the final Bubble gap race for the year before the WTF? I'm setting this up in Rondun's absence as I think he's busy with other things right now.

You know how all this works, you have to guess the bubble gap after Paris (no. of points between Andy and the person in 9th place). Currently, the race rankings, with semis and finals still to be played in Valencia and Basel are as follows:

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9677/bubblegap51111.jpg

The current bubble gap is 4830. That's Andy's score (7200) - Almagro's score (2370).

With the players left in Valencia and Basel, the only person who can make any impact on the rankings is Wawrinka, and he would have to get past Fed to do that. Even then he would only go up 2 or 3 places.

The theoretical highest bubble gap would be 5820. That's Andy winning the title and Almagro going out in the 1st round with no-one else overtaking him.
The mathematically lowest bubble gap would be around 3975 (not entirely sure about this). I'm not taking the draw into account but just looking at the numbers and looking at worst case scenarios involving someone outside the top 8 winning the title.

So your guess is between 3975 and 5820. The better you think Andy will do the higher the number you guess.

Ranking points on offer for Paris are as follows:
R1: 10
R2: 45
R3: 90
QF: 180
SF: 360
F: 600
W: 1000

Good luck to all who take part! Oh and if I've made any mistakes anywhere please let me know!

Deadline - Monday 7th, 10am.

Thanks for everyone's entries so far.
I won't be able to update the final entry list along with the starting grid until tomorrow late afternoon/evening but feel free to post your entry if you haven't done so. As long as it's posted before 10am if will be counted. The only people who haven't entered who entered in the Shanghai BG are Cazza, banskogirl and Ace!. Hopefully you'll get your entries in time if you want to take part. People who have never played before are free to enter as well of course. :)

Scoring table and updated race rankings will be posted and updated in the 2nd post of this thread. If i have time I may also update the overall leaderboard as well just so that we can all see where we're at in terms of who will come out on top overall. Rondun has updated the leaderboard up to post Cincy so it would just be adding the scores for the US open and Shanghai.

Anyway, best of luck to all and may the best driver win!

Play has started so, per Manaus's post, this is now closed to entries.
The thread will be left open for discussion about tactics on the indoor circuit in Paris.

So qualifying is all done and dusted. 17 drivers turn up for the race and pabbers starts in pole position with Golden Lady beside her.
Linda and Yorkie are on the 2nd row. Genbrit, the favourite to be champion just loses out to Yorkie and starts the race in 5th place alongside Vixs.
Second favourite Sallydaisy and Ace! make up the 4th row with cazza and hfwardhouse rounding off the top 10 in the 5th row.
With final checks done all the drivers are ready and waiting for the race to start. How will this race turn out?

The engines are revving up, the lights flip from red to green and they're off!

Oh wait, no they're not. Actually, they're all just going really slow, everyone passed the starting line but no-one wants to go past 1st gear for some reason. Maybe it's due to the arrival of winter and everyone's energy levels are a bit low or the fact that the end of the year is approaching with thoughts of Christmas on everyone's mind. Whatever it is the drivers seem content for now just to take a pleasant leisurely drive around the track.

Will the whole race be this easy going or is this merely the calm before the storm?

pabbers, Golden Lady and Linda who make up the current top 3 seemed to have had enough of the lethargic behaviour going on and collectively push down on the accelerator, zipping off and having a race of their own. They're going awfully fast though, their vehicles must be pretty light - I wonder how much fuel they put in their tanks before the race?

Apart from that it's still pretty calm out there with nothing much of interest going on. The weather's been clear up till now but reports are coming in stating that there is a chance that rain could be on it's way. Could there finally be some action arriving?

Depends on the fuel - they might have been drinking it.

It appears that the top 3 didn't have much fuel to start with after all as they soon enough drive into the pits for a fill in. On closer inspection their tanks were actually filled with mulled wine which probably explains their lack of fuel.:wino:Whilst there they decide to have a cuppa and a mince pie as they're feeling a bit peckish after that mini-race.

The other racers pass by the pits and seeing them there decide to pit in as well and join them.
It seems nothing is going to get the drivers moving so the stewards give in and call the race off before heading over for a snack themselves.
If you can't beat them, join them. :getcoat:

Well not much excitement for this race unfortunately but with Andy out the winners are pretty much set. Isner could reduce the bubble gap slightly if he wins Paris but that won't affect the final positions. Points are as follows:

1st: pabbers (25 points)
2nd: Golden Lady (18 points)
3rd: Linda (15 points)
4th: Yorkie (12 points)
5th: Genbrit (10 points)
6th: VamosVixs (8 points)
7th: sallydaisy (6 points0
8th: Ace! (4 points)
9th: cazza99 (2 points)
10th: hfwardhouse (1 point)

Congratulations to pabbers, Golden Lady and Linda! :trophy:

Pabbers, unfortunately you were wrong. It did last. So I pass on my heartiest commiserations for winning as I'm sure you would have preferred to end in last place.
