View Full Version : PARIS MASTERS 2011, R2: Andy charges past Chardy 6'2, 6'4

Chardy has come through R1 in just one set (because Granollers retired after losing the first set 3'6) so it's the Frenchman who'll be Andy's opponent in his first match at Bercy this year.

Despite being the same age and turning pro in the same year (2005) their careers couldn't have been more different. Andy is now ranked #3 in the world, has 21 ATP titles and won 5 of them this year. Jeremy is ranked 109 (but has a career high #31 in Nov 2009) and has just 1 ATP title to his name (Stuttgart 2009 on clay).

You'd have to favour Andy for the win - provided he can get his strained butt in gear!
;)

The match is likely to be played on Wednesday but we'll confirm when the OOP is up.

Gl Andy.
Chardy is a big server despite not being extremely tall.

It's a relief, really. Watching Granollers play on Sunday I was getting a bit worried about tomorrow's match. But I hope that his injury, whatever it was, is soon better.

Chardy should be an easier opponent, but of course can't take him too lightly as does possess some weapons but all being well Andy should be a class above.

Chardy has a very big serve and can be dangerous on a fast court - though they are saying the surface here is slower this year.

Did they HAVE to put this on at the only time I'm out tomorrow?199

I'm sorry I won't be able to see this, but trust that when I come home I will have news of a quick easy win, so that he's all set for his doubles.Go on go get them. I've a feeling that Nole is standing on a doubled edge sword, if he plays and retire's he will be accused of only playing for the bonus money. Notice that Fed has waded in saying that he has won so much money this year he doesn't need the bonus. Back to Nole if he doesn't play he's coped out at the last moment.

david1610
09-11-2011, 12:57
Andy never really looking in difficulty until the last ditch effort of Chardy - who did not really play well enough to bring out the best in Andy, and Andy started well enough for the match to just be about Andy keeping focused and serving well enough when he had to.
All in all, a good first match of the week! Well done Andy! :swingin:

No, but it does have to be before the end of play. Just click the "back" button, which takes you to the start of the day, then keep clicking along the time bar until you find where you need to be.

Thanks Madeline - so do you just select the game that is presently playing, is that where the back button is?? I will have to try that. Sorry, i'm being a bit thick, usually don't have a problem with this stuff but asked Tennis TV the question and they said you couldn't watch it just highlights later.

Madeline
11-11-2011, 16:51
Having just read your post, I have just tried again on today's stream. Yep - it still works, you would think tennistv would know that - actually it was RL that first posted about it and I have been doing it regularly since. You select the game that is presently showing on the same court.
Back button - just hover your mouse around the bottom of the screen and the usual bar comes up with a < (the back button) first, then the play/pause, then the > which if you hover over it, says "skip to live". To the right of that is a thick blue line which shows the time elapsed. Clicking the back button takes you right to the start of play, then clicking along the blue line you can find the start of the match you want. The last two days of course it was easy as Andy had the first match.
