Hi all, following our great week in
Bath we're playing at home for another crack at getting into the World Group.
Please post below if you want to come with the AMFF group.

Yes, subject to where it is being held. If it’s at the Copperbox definitely.

Can we have two tickets per BTM membership or does every individual need to be a member?

Yes definitely - me & fentiger please

Steven
12-02-2019, 14:41
Thanks Sally. Yes please, probably just one for both days - if I don't change that by the deadline (either to add another one or to pull out if they hold it somewhere that takes too long to get to by train), you can safely assume it's correct.

Sallydaisy
12-02-2019, 15:07
Pabbers and Sally will be there.

Me please - hoping its the copperbox that's dead simple for me to get to - if it's Bolton probably not as Easter Weekend will be a mare for me to travel further afield x

Sadly not for me as it's Easter weekend.

Mickey

I couldn’t go to Bath as I had meetings all day that week, and now the next Fed Cup is at Easter, so there is no way I can go.:grrr:

Jan

Am hoping to come if it's in London. I didn't renew my British Tennis membership, but Teresa has kindly offered to let me have her +1 ticket if that's possible.

Caro
13-02-2019, 13:51
Thinking about it .... will get back to you.

Joyce
13-02-2019, 17:00
Would hopefully like 2 tickets for both days - for Jane & myself - but can't confirm until we know the venue.
Thanks, Sally.

13-02-2019, 17:48
Sadly mister Pips and I probably won’t be able to come as we have other Easter commitments. I’m really gutted after such an amazing experience last week. Goldfish will have to keep me updated with scores but that just won’t be the same! I’ll be thinking of you all.:sad:

Caro
13-02-2019, 20:23
Have confirmed with Gill. She thinks she will have to be home for Sunday evening but as long as it’s not late like in Bath, that should be ok. So both days for us both please.

Guerkins2

Hi Sally I would be interested especially if it’s London, please. I will confirm once we know the definite venue. Thanks

Not sure for me Sally, Easter weekend is a big family time for me, will get back to you after we find out the venue.....

Thanks to those of you who've expressed interest so far.

It would be great if we could be a much bigger group to give loads of support at this particular tie as it'll be the girls 4th (I think) attempt in the last 5 years to get past this stage and into the World Group. We're aware that Ladies tennis doesn't always attract everyone but we've been brilliant at supporting the lads in Davis Cup and now the the ladies need us!!! The BATS have often had a 'group' cheering on GBR at Fed Cup and they had lots of fans in Bath. AMFF, We are Tennis and Murraynators went along for the first time (although a few die-hard TENNIS FANS have gone to some FedCup ties occasionally) and the Barmy Army hasn't been (so far) ...

We really did have a fantastic time in Bath and the tennis was enjoyable to watch.

On a personal level I have no intention of going to a Davis Cup event again (after 35 years of doing so!) until, and unless, they revert back to the old format of home/away ties for the earlier rounds which gave so many fans the chance to cheer on their home teams. The 'spirit' of the Davis Cup event is now broken and, along with many others on the forum, I cannot afford to book a whole week away (in Spain/America/Far East) on the off chance that'll I'll be able to see GBR play for a day. So, it'll be GBR in Fed Cup for me from now on - and it's clear how much they appreciate support from fans!

It's wonderful to have a home tie (2 in a row!) after so many years without so I hope the LTA are lining up a decent capacity venue for it to capitalise on the chance to cheer the GBR ladies on!

Lynne and I would have loved to have been in Bath but couldn't make it as we are tied to home for the foreseeable,
so can't make the next Fed meeting or the Liverpool meet up. Hopefuly things may change soon.
But we will be watching and cheering from the sofa as last week.
Have a great time all of you.

I dithered about going, and probably wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for Glenys, Sally and Stell taking all of the hassle out of it for me. However I am so glad I did. I had a brilliant time, and was impressed by the sheer guts shown by our girls. I wasn’t really aware of Harriet Dart and Katie Swan other than their names. When two youngsters came on to the court after the singles matches to hit with Colin Fleming, I really thought they were school girls who had won some competition or other. They then came out oozing with that confidence of youth to win their doubles matches.

At the end both Katie’s and Harriet were surprised to get medals. It was almost as though “We have had brilliant fun, and we get a medal as well - our cup truly runneth over”.

Great stuff.

Do we know when the venue is announced? I know for certain I'm going if it is CopperBox - anywhere else could be trickier to sort out due to being the Easter Weekend. However, if I can get there I'm coming

If the venue is announced next week (which will be flaming typical as I'm out of the UK) please can someone drop me a message on FB (but please bear in mind I may not reply instantly as we'll be 5 hours behind ya

Glenys, I think we'll know next week per Simon Briggs:

Re venue for Fed Cup, the Copper Box Arena is the favourite but not the only option, my understanding is that we won't get confirmation until next week. 12:36 PM - 12 Feb 2019

Agree Sally. I have been a stalwart DC supporter for years now and it has really upset me what they have done to it.
For me personally, Fed Cup will never be the same (no Andy for a start!) and I can’t warm to Jo Konta .... BUT it’s team tennis, it’s GB and it’s a great opportunity to meet up with fellow AMFFers so I decided it’s definitely worth a go.

I know BATS have been going as long as they’ve been going to DC and the team will be glad of the extra support from the other groups as well. I did see at least one Barmy Army in the crowd amongst the Murraynators so I’m not sure if there were one or 2 others as well, but as you say no big group like at DC. It will be interesting to see if they carry in supporting it in its new format ....

That's the spirit, Caro. I'm *so* happy you're coming along :grouphug: I hope others will too. When you're there you just get drawn into the action - believe me, the last thing I was thinking when things got tense was well, this is good but it's no Davis Cup. It's just enthralling and enjoyable in its own right. And I know what you mean about Jo - I don't find her the easiest to warm to either, I think her shyness makes her seem a bit wooden, but she was awesome and it was so easy to get behind her. I absolutely love Katie Boulter, she's so feisty and great to watch - think you'll warm to her and the others just fine. Just hope KB keeps her place :peace:

I love watching tennis, the Brits specifically - Nottingham has been a great "hunting" ground for me - been to the WTA/ATP Challenger there a few years now and the chance to get close to the players is amazing - I stalked the practice courts to finally get my Wardy picture - however after that, I also stood next to him (fangirl moment!) whilst he was watching another match after just finishing one of his. I said to him "great match" (in relation to his obviously) and he replied "thanks" - I also picked up Joko's autograph for a mate of mine who has a thing for her - he was over the moon when I sent it to him -

I was so into the Fed cup and had been determined to get to a tie for yonks so home tie was brilliant - and you've all seen the photo - I'm in my usual tense tennis pose LOL

Yes, I really like Katie Boulter too.

Have now also booked a flex room at the Bolton PI ... so cheap!

I'm not sure if I'd ever watched a Fed Cup match before last weekend when I watched on tv. I thought it was brilliant. I feel that currently the Davis Cup is not an option for me and I have zero interest in it. The Fed Cup is a welcomed substitution.

Well I have booked a hotel in Bolton, by the Arena but really don’t want to go to Bolton. Crossing everything for Copper Box.
