ACAPULCO
I'm reading on Twitter that there were withdrawals through sickness yesterday in Acapulco. Katie Boulter, Verdasco for deffo. Schwartzman and Kyrgios both said they felt unwell on court.
Good news is that Cam Norrie and Jo Konta won their matches and are into QF'S .
Saw that Katie had retired. Sorry to hear that she's sick, but preferable to an injury. Get well soon Katie.
Sounds like they're going loco down in Acapulco. Did they stay too long?

:confused: Verdasco was playing Federer yesterday in Dubai. Took him to 3 sets. I watched a bit of it but had to go away as the crowd was going beyond bonkers and irritating me hugely!
Congrats Jo and Cam. :clap::clap:

Re: Katie Boulter. I put that she had withdraw but in fact she retired from her match.
According to Simon Briggs on Twitter "On Katie Boulter, who was taken ill last night during match in Acapulco: “She threw up and was dizzy so eventually had to stop.”
Unforced errors in the Nadal/Kyrgios match: Kyrgios 49, Nadal 17, and Rafa still lost the match! Following on from all the hype about this match I just had to watch some of the replay. If anyone hasn't already seen it, and if you can, I would strongly recommend that you at least watch the final set TB. I thought the crowd was harsh at times, booing Nick when he broke a string and had to change his racquet and when he didn't like having to repeat a serve because Rafa wasn't ready. (I thought you were supposed to play at the servers pace?) A very curt handshake from Rafa at the net summed up what he thought about it all!
As for the underarm serve, which landed out anyway, happening earlier in the match, there was an interesting comment from Stu Fraser on Twitter:"...hopefully this is not the first and only time this season we see an opponent of Rafael Nadal try it." Targeting the fact that Rafa stands so far behind the baseline to receive serve.
Nick was quite amazing with some of his shot making. He seemed very poorly at the end of the first set, feeling very sick, but didn't want to go off the court as he didn't want to be booed. (So he does care then?)

No apology needed! I like your location BTW. I do hope it might change one day; I'm sure if it does you will happily move there.
Felix has just beaten ARV in 2 close TB sets in Sao Paulo. His next round opponent will be either #2 seed Jaziri or Djere: if it's Djere that will be a repeat of the Rio final. Could be interesting if that happens!

Thought Fed would likely win this time, however seems was pretty straightforward 6-4,6-4 win.

No James, it was a good match actually, Tsits played some lovely shots which made Fed step a notch or two, yes good match it was shown in Amazon Prime, but they didn't show the dubs, well I couldn't find it, that's the problem with Prime.

That doubles was on tennis tv but was only able to watch the end. Should be on their replay list.
I saw the dubs final on Amazon Prime! They seem to play really well together so I hope that Joe can have a bit of partner consistency
I have just watched the replay of the Acapulco final: Nick and Sascha. Really impressed. I would call it the 'drop shot' match. Some amazing tennis. Congrats Nick. I'm delighted for you. Although I don't always like some of Nick's antics, I've always had a soft spot for him. I think he is often very misunderstood and I also think the crowd was a bit harsh on him at times throughout the week. When Sascha made his speech it brought tears to my eyes. He was so gracious and spoke so well about Nick, telling the crowd that Nick deserved to win it etc. Worth trying to listen to it if you can. It moved Sascha many notches up my favourites ladder. Nice to see the respect between Nick and Sascha too.

A great week for Nick, if he puts his mind to it is impressive -will need to see if he can really buckle down whilst still showing passion though. Cetainly Kygrios has behaved badly at times and a poor show when he has appeared not to try particularly hard, however has some good points and when on song one of the entertainers. Some of the criticsm like for the underarm serve unjustified in my view and I wasn't too keen on some of Nadal's comments. Sacha will have been disappointed and great credit to him that he was gracious in defeat.
