Tsitsipas through in 3 easy sets. Fedex cruising at 1-0 set up v Sonego (and 2-0 up in the 2nd set).

Watching Novak. It's easier watching him so good now Andy is not there! Interesting how often he wears colours so like the court colour - maybe it helps by making him slightly camouflaged. Certainly a better idea than the guru! The guy he is playing does have the look of Andy about him (Hurkacz)

Vaguely recall reading something a few years ago about Novak deliberately opting to wear clothing that blends into the court environment to make it harder for his opponents to track his movement.
Hurkacz certainly moves like Andy doesn't he. Enjoyed watching him

did the kit designer work in the dark??
Either that or he/she thought "I'll design the most awful gear possible just to see if players will wear it".
Apparently a lot of rain is forecast tomorrow.
Kyle held, and has quickly raced to 2 match points...
And he wins!
Blink and you miss it - and I did! Well done Kyle for finishing it off quickly.

Dan v Verdasco has just started. Dan was broken in his first service game. I think this is going to be a big ask.

JAMES4578

certainly dramatic in 5th , Paire just edging it tough. Good to see that Dinitrov beat Cilic 6-3 in 5th, as expected Nishikori got the better of Tsonga but it did go to 4.
Kyle looking like going 2 sets down against Cuevas.
He has. I find him depressing to watch. The outcome is usually predictable. He just lacks that fighting instinct.
He has never come from 2 sets down to win, and it's not looking like he will today.

Heard it was a left knee tweak (knee issues earlier in season)(though unclear how much of a factor in was in the match-first set though may well have been crucial ) , Cuevas a proficient clay courter (with 6 titles) anyway and the Chardy match was a tough one. Hopefully Kyle will be ok for grass season, needs to get a run going.
I think you meant grass season and not geass season, JAMES4578. I had to go out, but managed to get back to watch Kyle's match. But, went out again after he'd lost the second set and came back to find he'd retired.

First time since 2011 all top 4 seeds reach Men's Semis. Little drama today,Zverev somewhat disappointing even if Djokovic had another gear with the Serb taking it 7-5,6-2,6-2 -contest effectively over after the German failed to serve out first set. Thiem just losing 8 games to Kachanov in his straight sets win.

Nadal in another final and pretty much mastering Fed in straights on the clay even if some exciting points, Roger had early break in 2nd but did not last long. Djokovic/Thiem I found more interesting though, unfortunately play now abandoned for the day at somewhat of a crucial phase and controversially (apparently fine now even of windy) Thiem handled conditions better in early stages but Nole found way back before finding himself on back foot again. Dom leading 6-2,3-6,3-1.

To me the Fedal match was over-hyped. As far as I am concerned, Rafa was always going to win it. Nauseating crowd reaction as usual when Fed plays. Agree James, Djok/Thiem match much more interesting with outcome more in the balance. I really really want to see Domi in the final. Djok far from happy in the wind...I hope he didn't prevail on the decision to call play off for the day? :getcoat:
I suspect Nole decided he didn't want to play anymore. Rumour has it he had already left the building before play was formally suspended...
Apparently it was confirmed by Christopher Clarey on Twitter that he did NOT leave before play was formally suspended.

Poor game though at start of 3rd, hardly ideal!
BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/48573957) - French Open: Sue Barker listed as Australian on women's singles trophy
All this time we'd been thinking Sue Barker was the last British woman to win the French Open.
Apparently we were wrong.
Because, according to the French Open trophy, Barker is, in fact, Australian.
Ashleigh Barty, who is actually Australian, noticed the error after she was crowned women's singles champion (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/48567958) on Saturday.
She searched for her compatriots on the trophy, looking for Margaret Court, who was the last Australian champion - in 1973.
But next to Barker's name it reads 'AUST' rather than 'GB'.
Barker, now a BBC presenter, won her only Grand Slam title in 1976, but nobody has fixed the engraving error in the 43 years which have passed.
French Open organisers said on Sunday the mistake would be rectified.
They will also amend the 1977 engraving, with champion Mima Jausovec's surname spelt Jausevec.
Oops.

Hopefully Dom will get back on track, however Nadal confident right now so a challenge. Unfortunately unable to capitalise on bp at start of 4th and broken himself. 2 chances to get back on serve but Rafa prevails for 3-0, may well have been last throw of the dice sadly.
Well done Rafa

Must say the 2nd half of the match did not live up to my expectation and bit of a disappointment, after the euphoria of taking the 2nd Thiem gave too much away and Nadal found another level (the delays and drama of the Djokovic match though obviously a factor) -pity for Dom but would have likely been tough in any case-hopefully day will come! Nonetheless congrats to Nadal in winning 12th French title, an awesome record and once again playing some amazing tennis at Rolland Garros. whoever you were supporting some great entertainment in a few matches:cheer::cheer:
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I thought it was a stupendous match. I was a bit behind on catch up so had to avoid internet but really enjoyed it. What an age of champions we are living in. Thiem was excellent. Surely when these old guys are finally retired, he must win it.

First two sets were great but it faded after that a little. Amazing achievement by Rafa . Happy for him even though I was supporting Domi.
Onto the :grass: or green tennis as Sophia Murray might call it:strawberry:
I thought the first set was brilliant, the second not bad but then after that, there was always going to be only the one winner. I do feel for Domi, I think he had a bit of a hard deal. But, all in all, a great tournament. Sorry it's all over!

The first two sets were nailbiters and after that it became a foregone conclusion and, altho' I'm like Rafa in that if he was going to lose to anyone it would be Thiem, I'm very happy he has won his 12th titles. It's just such a surreal and unreal achievement and I'm lucky to be here to witness it all. So well done to both chaps  :trophy:
Gutted for Domi. Great atmosphere on Chatrier. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't had to play four days in a row. We've been here four days and it's been great. Bring on the grass!!
Congratulations to Rafa :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :trophy: :pirate: :roland:
It's hard to believe he has won the title 12 times.
Huge commiserations to Domi - really hope he will be the player to succeed Rafa.
Fantastic achievement by Rafa. But I think Thiem will be the one who eventually takes his RG title (I think I said that last year too). Rafa seems to think so too, from what he said.
