I'm going to be changing suppliers soon. I know Virgin Media broadband is superb, but what about the others.
Sky and BT in particular.

Any feedback/advice would be welcome. :)

I'm with talktalk at home and their customer services is rubbish if there are problems. But they are cheap when combined with telephone.

I am also with O2 at my Dad's and they are brilliant. The customer service is very good too and they came up very high in Which. Some of their rates are cheaper if you have an O2 mobile and much cheaper in a city.

I'm with Orange - has been great but have never really needed customer services. i went with them when you got it free with a £30 plus monthly mobile and still get it free even though loyalty discount has taken my mobile plan down to £26ish

Sky are a good option if you already pay for their TV. Watch out for the two different products Sky offer: Sky Connect and Sky Broadband. Sky Connect is offered to people who's telephone exchange doesn't have Sky kit in it, meaning they use BT's kit instead. Sky Connect is generally regarded as being pretty poor. Sky Broadband, on the other hand, is excellent.

Non-BT kit in exchanges is known as Local Loop Unbundling, and you can find out if your exchange supports this using Sam Knows (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search).

Apologies if you already know all this!

Yes I've had used Sky for a while now and I find that on the main it's a good service, though do need to take a tv package before you will be elegible for broadband. You do here complaints about their customer service in the media at times but I haven't had to contact them that much myself.

I got Virgin and I say DON'T get Virgin. It worse broadband you can get! Internet so unreliable and slow sometimes. It unpredictable. I been trying persuade dad to change but he doesn't want to and some of my friends parents got Virgin and it bad for them too.

Interesting, all that is available at mine is ADSL, what a suprise!!
I have always been with Pipex as they will give me a fixed IP address so that I can use a VPN tunnel. They have always been good but have been absorbed into lots of different companies over the years, the latest being Talk Talk, who I am due to be migrated to at some stage. But whatever company I am with unless they can give me Fibre Optic, satellite or cable my speed will always be poor.

If you live in a big City or packed town, your only choice should be Virgin. Been with them for 3 years.

I would say i'm a heavy user, but the 10Mb broadband is more then enough.

We're with Sky. Originally TeleWest which was taken over by Virgin. Got a better deal with Sky as we have Sky TV.
